We liked the very friendly staff. We were immediately offered an upgrade to the Imperial Suite, for no additional charge. We were also invited out to dinner by Mr Alexander himself and had a most enjoyable evening. It was a most delightful stay. Our room opened onto a private balcony overlooking the beautiful Santorini caldera

Alexander's Boutique Hotel is by the far the most wonderful hotel we have ever stayed in and we have been in many places around the world. The Cave House was unique and beautifully furnished with antiques. The balcony relaxing with a fantastic view of the Caldera. The staff helpful and friendly. We even had the pleasure of going to dinner with Alexander and experiencing local dining with a fantastic host who was fun, treated us as friends and educated us on the foods of Greece. I cannot imagine a better place to stay in Santorini in beautiful Oia; especially for the price! The caves are not dark, damp or smelly so do not be afraid: embrace this unique opportunity!

ALthough we were not arranged to live in the hotel itself, but they accomodated us to another hotel closeby and so that we can use the facilities of both hotels. And the room I chose, because I did not like the first one, is very spacious and old fashioned. Staff very nice. Slow. Check in is slow, because maybe she had to arrange many guests in different locations. Breakfast, which is served by one waiter, is very slow so you have to wait long time before eating. Luckily facing the aegen sea and kill time is part of the journey, but if you are hungry at that time, it will cause problem. And, if only can be a bit closer to the town centre, but that may make difference in prices.

This place was amazing. They were so helpful. They booked us at a seafood restaurant with views of the sunset. Amazing. Hot tube was great, probably spent to long in there sipping wine and enjoying the amazing views which are just breathtaking. They'll even do your laundry for you for 10euro. Highly recommend this place.

We booked the “Sapphire Cave”. Although we confirmed by telephone that the room will be available to us, at 12:00 (our arrival hour in Ia), we ended up waiting until 15:00. In an attempt to justify the unjustifiable, the reception’s lady told us, that the person we talked on the phone, is in Athens (although we telephoned in Santorini’s local number ..!!!) and so she informed us wrong... After 3 hours, apologizing for the inconvenience we have been caused, they led us to a larger room which they had just painted (the walls were wet and smelled of paint ...!!!), in which it was impossible to stay. After an additional waiting time, led us to our first selection, the "Sapphire Cave", which had nothing to do with the photos we saw on the site… There was nothing blue in that room, as opposed to the pictures of the "sapphire cave" on the internet. The bathroom was very small, (and grey, not blue like the pictures) and there were still some hair from previous guests…!!! The jacuzzi was a huge disappointment, only a child could lie down inside it. The internet photos are really cheating the reality. The breakfast was at least unacceptable (tasteless coffee, awful ham, cheese and honey). We paid a high amount of money for nothing.

Wow! What a gorgeous hotel in a superb location! On arrival we were 'upgraded' to the Diamond Room for the first night which was a wonderful surprise....Alexanders is just heavenly. The following day we were moved to a more simple but equally atmospheric apartment...both cave houses, designed with such imagination. The breakfasts were totally incredible - making it unnecessary to eat anything else until the evening! Lounging by one of the beautiful swimming pools nearby and watching the sunset a few minutes walk away were fantastic. Lovely, friendly, helpful staff too.

How could I possibly complain about spending 3 nights in a charming cave home, dug into the side of the enchanting Santorini cliffs overlooking a sea worthy of Poseidon himself. Unique, romantic, and utterly beautiful.

I liked the partial view of the Caldera. The reception lady was this type of "false" ready-for-help. She was clearly conscient that the hotel was a disaster. Internet photos were really cheating the real. The furniture cushons were completely worn out. The jacuzzy was 1st world war model (I have pictures of every thing I'm saying). The breakfast remind me the military service or the boarding school times (it is nice to go back in memory, but not on vacations). Just check the ham category and the orange juice...The category is clearly a poor 3 stars. They offer the use of a cross road hotel's pool hundred meters away.... Which of course we did not use (we are not so desperate) The furniture is terrible. The light inside makes you feel down. The electricity was down several times (I left the premises with no power at the time). The air con did not work properly (suffocating at a cave!!!). The hotel just lives on the view, but they dont do anything from their side besides that. It looks like not being renovated since 40 years. There are many more hotels in the area with own pools within the facilities, much well organised, better view, much better breakfast and updated. Probably deserving the 5 stars not like Alexander'S. Even the booking style is a disaster which indirect procedure they use for their own selection. By offering 10 pct discount on prepaid method, for instance, they make sure you dont leave next day. Summing up: the worst hotel we have stayed in the past 15 years (and we have stayed in about 200 as we travel a lot).

Great view, and it feels very special to sleep in an actual cave as a room, on a cliff. The hotel is small and personal. The hotel management aasked us 3x to change our room during a 7 day stay. This means you have to pack everything again. Only after making a big fuss, this was reduced to 2x. The first time we were moved to a slightly better room, which helps, but the second time we were moved to a much lesser room, not even in the same hotel!

Friendly staff and amazing views. Very difficult to find the reception. No signage. The hotel is spread out in different parts of Oia and takes some time to walk around.
