눉It's not that that I didn't like something, more to point out.
1) The hotel is not in the main villages. You will gain the advantage of total privacy and serenity, but a mean of transportation is necessary (don't fall for the bikes, rent a car, the roads are tricky-ask Stella). I do prefer it like that, but its a matter of opinion- be advised.
2) The beach at which the hotel has access is rather rocky. That is typical for the island. Patmos is not an easy island. If you are looking for sandy, huge beaches, maybe you will have to reconsider. If not, you can enjoy Prokopis fishing in the same beach the octopus he will treat you late the evening.
눇I have visited the majority of islands in Cyclades and Dodekanese. Nowhere the locals have been as gentle and hospitable (if any) like the people of Patmos (maybe the leftover from the religious tradition of the island). And on top of them, our hosts (Stella and Prokopis). I felt more like visiting a great aunt than staying in a place that I have never been before (On top of the fresh juice and the surprise home-made cake that waited us in our rooms on our arrival, Stella went as far as to hand-pick, on her own, souvenirs for our departing day...).
The accommodation is exemplary, in the true meaning of the word. Attention to every detail, in the finest quality (top quality installations, cleaning of the room daily, changing of sheets every two days). The hotel is sitting, in complete silence, on an isolated slope, far from the main villages. Thankfully, our hosts provided us with the means to rent a car, in a very reasonable price for this time of the season (high season of August). The rooms have access to an isolated beach for the first dive of the day (or the last.. or of the night- that's mostly up to you) and the privilege of a magnificent view of the Aegean. The bay just next to the hotel is the start of the path for the best beach of the island (Psili Ammos). Take note, you will still have to walk the 1,5 km to get to the beach, but it totally worth it.
Visited a magnificent island, made some new friends, looking back with nostalgia, looking forward (visit them again) with anticipation. Isn't that what vacations are all about?
