Around an hour after we arrived, my partner noticed a couple of black ants near the mini fridge. The more we looked, the more we found. We called down to reception and a girl came up - I showed her the ants and she started killing them with her fingers which I thought was really odd. I asked her if we could change rooms - she said no, because we had already used this room and the cleaner had gone for the day.
I was fuming, but to avoid upsetting my partner I sent the girl from reception away. She called the room 5 minutes later saying if we went down and sat in reception she would spray the room with insect killer - we said we would think about it. Around 10 minutes later, I felt something on my foot - an ant, which had bitten me, the ants had made it onto the bed - enough was enough.
We went downstairs and I showed her the bite mark, she just looked at me and laughed in my face 'ants don't bite' she said...which I knew was complete rubbish, but I was close to losing my temper so I just agreed and she went up the 'fumigate' the room. We sat in reception for around half an hour, then she came over sand said it was fine to go back to the room - she did give us a plug in mosquito repellent, which was her saving grace - she also apologised, which was the first time she had done so since we reported it.
Her attitude to the problem was poor and she didn't seem to understand that finding ants in a freshly cleaned room is not acceptable.
The TV in the room only had a few channels and wasn't digital - not good considering this isn't what I consider a budge hotel.
The wifi was slow and the connection kept dropping.
The gentleman who checked us in and out was extremely friendly.
The room was modern and the bed comfortable.
The room service was quick and the quality good, although a pity there wasn't more choice.
Nice view on the balcony, with a sun lounger - however there needs to be 2 sun loungers.
I really want to rate this hotel higher - but the ants are not acceptable and the situation was not dealt with properly by the lady on reception.
