No Breakfast

We stayed in Aretousa for 1 night. There is no breakfast in this hotel, but we were treated by the delicious cheese cake by the owners for breakfast. There is a small kitchenette and a super store nearby that helps you to enjoy your meal on a private balcony. It's very good located to head the Lissos in the morning (and don't forget your swimming suit,there is a good beach too). We signed out in the morning, but owners provided us a room and towels for a shower,changing clothes before we left Sougia @ night. We were very impressed by the warm hospitality of this family. Sougia is a small cozy place, and if you are looking for calm relaxing vacation this the right place for you.

Departing from Gramvousa, at the north west point of the island, we arrived at last in the evening to Sougia after driving snaky roads, but full of amazing landscapes and through authentic cretan villages. We arrived a bit late, at 8:30 pm, and the owner of the Hotel had tried to contact us by phone several times as he was worried that we´d have got lost in our way or in one of the gorges that surround Sougia, and in that case to go look for us! We were so sorry for worrying him like that! We didn´t listen my mobile because it was at the rear of the car! So we can say that the welcome at the hotel was perfect, nice people no doubt! Aretousa Hotel is just 200 meters from the beach of Sougia, and nearby are the archaeological site of Lissos and the Gorge of Agia Irini, so it´s a perfect start to different hikes and visits. The hotel is a family business so the owners really take care of the cleanliness and presentation of the hotel. Outside it has a parking with enough place for its customers, and a garden with barbecue. The view of the Hotel from outside is lovely with its balconies and greek style. The rooms were superbs, clean, new furnitures and bathroom, balconies with mountains views, confortables beds, each room furnished with a little kitchen and little fridge, but with all the crockery and cutlery needed for cooking your own food. We stayed just one night there but we wished to stay more as the city of Sougia is peaceful, but with several lively taverns and lovely cretan people, and the most exciting, start point of very intersting hikings walks. Unfortunately, our own-made planning obliged us to stay just one day to continue visiting the island. That night we went to eat out at Polifemo´s Tavern, authentic greek food, friendly staff, and we spent an amazing night as luckily that day was live greek music. The atmosphere was hypnotizing (maybe as well due to the raki! A local liquor, that we were invited by the owners of the Tavern).

Maybe the shower should be enclosed to avoid the water to come out, but after staying a week in Crete, we have realised that it´s is common to have the showers like that and later to wipe the water into the drain. So in fact, we didn´t find nothing that really didn´t like.

Very pleasant and comfy rooms.

Made for a terrific stay in Sougia which we loved! Room was large with a great balcony and very clean. We loved the location at the "top" of the main road... only about 5 minutes from the beach! Our hosts Dara and Miko were terrific and made us feel very welcome and were very helpful throughout out our stay and, infact, ended us giving us a lift to Chania at the end of our stay. They really were fantastic and Aretousa looked to be one of the best guest houses around.

Our host Mirko and his wife were fantastic hosts, and they made our honeymoon all the more special. This hotel is just outside of the main town and beach, close enough to walk, yet far enough away to be quiet. The room was clean, and the hotel was well maintained.

Excellent accueil, dommage que nous sommes restés seulement une nuit, à refaire en prenant le temps d'apprécier les lieux !

Accueil excellent, le gérant nous a même passé les appels téléphonique pour trouver un taxi. Appartement très calme à 5 mn de la plage. Parking ombragé. Parfait pour famille de 4 personnes. Bon point de départ pour les gorges de Samaria.

Die Besitzer waren sehr freundlich, hilfsbereit und bemüht, unseren Aufenthalt so nett wie möglich zu gestalten. Eine kleine Küchenzeile ist für jeden, besonders für Familien sehr praktisch. Im kleinen, sehr hübsch gestalteten Garten, gibt es Schaukeln und ein Häuschen mit Rutsche.

Die Küche ist etwas sehr knapp ausgestattet. Aber bei Bedarf und auf Nachfrage erweitern die Besitzer mit Sicherheit das Sortiment.

Très bon accueil. Bon rapport qualité prix. Petite station touristique calme et à échelle humaine. Idéal de dormir à Sougia, prendre le bus à 7h00, descendre la gorge de Samaria, retour à Sougia en bateau (17h30).

Pas très spacieux mais suffisant.

Un excellent accueil dans cet hôtel où le patron s'est mis en quatre pour nous rendre service et nous aider dans notre projet de visite des gorges de Samaria. La chambre est en réalité un studio avec kitchenette. Bon confort, wifi gratuit. Situé un peu à l'écart et au calme. A noté que cet hôtel ne propose pas de petit déjeuner mais il y a des café et tavernes dans une rayon proche.

Το ζευγάρι που διευθύνει το ξενοδοχείο. Είναι από την Σερβία και έχουν ένα αγόρι 13 ετών. Εξαιρετικοί!

personnel de l'hotel très serviable - propreté impécable

Almost everything. Spacey rooms, comfortable beds, relaxing atmosphere, a small kitchen to prepare breakfast or dinner, balcony to enjoy it open air.

Just one thing. Some small windows withοut shutters,l that maybe give an architectural appeal, but in August coincide with the sun route, so in 9 am you feel very hot without reason. I personally put the pillow in it and the problem was solved.

lo staff molto gentile e disponibile, ti accoglie con una bottiglia di olio d'oliva e con tante piccole attenzioni. la vicinanza al mare e ai ristorantini. la pulizia delle camere e dell'angolo cottura perfettamente funzionante.

il condizionatore d'aria sopra i letti non era molto ben regolabile.

L albergo è molto pulito e curato Lo staff è molto cordiale e sempre disponibile Il parcheggio è presso la struttura sufficiente e mi hanno lasciato auto nel parcheggio anche per il giorno dopo ! Wifi ottimo :) Letto matrimoniale Balcone bello e ampio

Neues, geschmackvoll eingerichtetes Zimmer. Moderne, dichte, isolierte Türen. Wäscheleine am Balkon um Badesachen zu trocknen, sehr praktisch.

Hotel sans charme particulier mais propre et tout à fait correct pour le prix. Pour le petit déjeuner il faut aller sur le front de mer de sougia.
