Adonis Hotel enjoys a prime location in one of the finest parts of Athens, the historic district of Plaka.
Score from 682 reviews Good
The hotel is well located, minutes away from the Acropolis and many restaurants. The room was large and clean. The staff is welcoming and helpful.
We got a internal room, looking into an air duct. It was a bit dark and not airy.
Friendly staff Quiet terrace bar
Bathroom was a bit dated (although clean and functional)
Small hotel on a side street with a friendly and helpful staff; within walking distance to many historical sites, local cafes, and shops; two metro stops in area; safe neighborhoods.
Perfect location Friendly staff
Quite Old hotel so don t expect design bathrooms...
Comfortable room, pleasant helpful staff, close to the Acropolis, on a good trolley route and close to the metro too. Also within 50 metres of a nice pedestrian area including various bars and the crazily good value Diva Pizza. Simple old lift - very fast. One or two tables on the top floor balcony (breakfast and also evening bar) have view of Acropolis. Aircon. Our room had a small balcony as well, looking out on the interesting street.
Bathroom a bit shabby. Windows not closing properly - might be an issue in the winter. Keep your hands away from the moving bits of the lift.
The location, the familiar attention and a fair price-quality ratio.
The noise. It was nearly impossible to sleep in in the morning after 7.00 pm. You can hear the water coming down from the showers and the toilets in nearby rooms and also all the noise in the stairs, hallways, etc.
Served good coffee and fresh fruit with breakfast. Interesting setting. Good restaurants nearby as well as many of the great places to vist.
Mattress springs a bit too near the surface in our room for one jetlagged lady!
Location, value and an extremely accommodating staff. They helped us book our ferries to the island and had a taxi waiting for us the next morning! Perfect for everyone planning to see the acropolis and get out of athens.
Bed could have been a bit more comfortable but no real complaints. Great price for the location.
The staff where friendly and helpful. The hotel has character and is located near a pleasant strip of local (non tourist) restaurants. it was also only 5 minutes walk from the Acropolis and metro.
The air con wasn't great, either too hot or too cold.
wonderful position, very close to acropolis; very kind and available staff
small rooms with old furnitures
So close to the Acropolis, the metros and cafes. The breakfast was also very good. The kids found the very small elevator fun!
Near to Acropolis and all you must see in Athens.
A little bit expensive
Nestled within a whistle from Acropolis and metro, it's more like a small guesthouse with a personal touch. The hosts/owners do their best to make you feel at home and efficiently explore the whereabouts. All art pieces and cats are genuine, furniture expectably old yet undisputably clean. Buffet breakfasts (choose the balcony or the picturesque interior) are tasty, however early (8:00 - 10:00). Shampoo, shower gel and soap all smell deliciously. Air conditioner, wifi run like clockwork. Thin woolen blankets are found in the wardrobe, should you make the air too cool. No noise from the street, even with windows open, as they face a narrow precinct. And the neighborhood itself is very quiet. A tiny elevator spares you from carrying luggage upstairs. Together with the room key, you get the key from the outer door (an advantage for night life aficionados). The key fob is magnetic, to save electricity - one more neat combination of nostalgia and modernity.
One may miss the usual comforts like a hair dryer, an iron and a tea kettle in the room. An extravagant blind-glassed window near the door lets some electric light and staff talk from the corridor into the room (no good for light sleepers, but no big deal if you get tired enough)). Also some kitchen smells were felt and the door took some skill to cope with the lock.
Decent hotel with a nice balcony where breakfast is served
slightly out of the way, the price is right but I would stay a little closer to the action or sights.
Super friendly and helpful staff with always a good answer of suggestion in perfect english. Great location; central but quiet. Near tube station. Good breakfast. A top city visit hotel.
Do not stroke the cat he he.
Alex very nice & helpful
Very old hotel, needs renovation
Great staff at the reception! Thanks to the ladies at the reception for being so friendly! Lovely cats ❤️ Great location just a few blocks away from Acropolis!
A family run hotel that is just minutes from the Acropolis. Breakfast was yummy and the rooms were cool at night which was a welcome respite from the summer heat.
The staff was extremely helpful. The woman at the front desk assisted us in making a long distance call to resolve a credit card issue and also called to book us ferry tickets to Mykonos. Everything went smoothly. The hotel was conveniently located and quiet. Breakfast was varied enough for me to eat gluten-free. There was a nice view of the Acropolis from the terrace.
The place is due for a remodel, but that adds to it's charm.
Good location - still close to everything, but in a quieter, real neighbourhood. All in all not terrible, but wish we had another room...
Based on other reviews in guidebooks, I think we might have had one of the worst rooms in the hotel as our room was nothing like what was described - it was small and dim - one window looked over an alley and the other at a wall. Shower door broken, leaky sink, a bit run down.
The bed was comfortable and the air conditioner worked well.
The person at the desk, though very apologetic, did not put in our wake up call into the system correctly, so we did not get a wake up call the morning we had a flight. There was a leak under the sink, creating mold in the cabinet. The shower door did not work.
The reception I got from the owners and staff was excellent. Maria was so helpful and recommended what tours to take; where to go; etc. The breakfast was perfect! The location as well was so ideal and central.
The bathroom had a smell but because I was out most of the time, I just closed the door and couldnt be bothered to bring it up...
The location - near the museum, acropolis etc and a metro station. The receptionist on arrival was helpful. The bar/breakfast room and terrace.
The accommodation, including the bathroom, which smelled of drains and had rough edges on some shower tiles. The unit in the bedroom was scruffy and only 2 of 8 or so drawers had handles. The lift, which was very small and had no internal door. The breakfast, which was very basic. The hotel as a whole seemed a bit grubby and not very well maintained. We were asked for cash because, we were told, card authorisation took a long time on a Sunday.
Friendly and helpful staff. The hotel is situated perfectly for sightseeing. Amazing Greek yoghurt was served for breakfast - yum!
- Friendliness of staff - Acropolis is nearby - Metro is nearby - Good value for money
