My name is Yiannis Gouverakis, and I am the owner of Santa Elena Boutique Rooms. This building was my family home, where I was born and took my first steps, attempting to climb the stairs of this three-story traditional Venetian building. In 1982, the rental business under the name "Artemis Rooms" was first established, a name that was maintained until 2023 when I took over management and changed it in honor of my mother, Eleni. Additionally, I decided to name the rooms after my three children, Matilda, Agape, and Christopher, and my parents, Elena and Ioannis. Initially, our five rooms operated with a shared bathroom, but later in 1995, after a major earthquake in Chania, my father was forced to make significant changes. Under the close supervision of the archaeological service, the entire building was demolished, but its exterior, with its preserved traditional appearance, was left untouched, and it was rebuilt according to all modern building safety standards, undergoing necessary internal modifications, such as creating individual bathrooms for each room. In 2023, wanting to add "my personal touch" and aiming to achieve a unique experience for all my guests, I renovated the rooms, giving them the distinctive style they have today! As my main profession is a physical therapist/osteopath, I usually do not have the opportunity to be present upon your arrival to welcome you, but myself and my team strive to be readily available online for whatever you may need, ensuring that your stay in our rooms and in Chania is an unforgettable, unique experience!

The building that accommodates our rooms was erected in the 15th century by Venetians and was originally used as a five-room residence until 1982. It was then that we decided to transform it, urged by our wish to meet people from every corner of the globe. In 1995 we fully renovated its inner spaces, yet we kept its outer structure and all those distinctive features of the inner structure that recall the romantic elements of Venetian architecture intact. The location of the rooms has the advantage of providing direct access to a wide range of shops, pubs, cafes, and picturesque taverns where you have the chance to eat traditional, cretan food and buy your souvenirs. Also, you can have a walk to the city center of Chania and you can visit the Αrchaeological Museum . Moreover, you can visit the Catholic Church which is located next to the archaeological museum. One more choice is to walk to the scenic streets and enjoy the view of Venetian Old Harbour with the unique lighthouse. In the city center there is the Municipal Market of Chania, a huge building which was inaugurated in 1913 by Eleftherios Venizelos. There you can find a big variety of traditional products. The bus station to nearby beaches and villages stops is 500m from the property where you can also take trips to the most famous and exotic beaches of crete like Elafonisi, Balos, Falassarna and Sfakia.
