Athos Hotel  

The Athos is located right in the Plaka, so it suited us perfectly - we walked to all the major attractions without any trouble. We both liked the roof-top terrace with views of the Parthenon. The staff were very friendly and helpfull - their English was a lot better than my Greek! Also loved the ancient 2 person lift... All in all, good value for the money.

Would have appreciated coffee/tea making facilities in the room and bigger (full size) cutlery at breakfast.

Good location, near metro and airport bus station. All attractions within walking distance. Overall still a good budget hotel.

Room a bit small, dun like the rule that every time u go out, u have to give your room key to the reception and the key will display at a cabinet visible to everybody.

The staff is extremely friendly and recognises you as you come and go, after a day or two they will remember you by name. Exceptionally convenient location next to Syntagma.

Some rooms get minor noise from the lobby, especially around breakfast.

Very central location, friendly helpful staff. The shower was tiny but had super water pressure and was instantly hot.

The breakfast was very basic, but for only 3€ I didn't expect anything else and found it good value.

Lovely hotel, with a friendly, competent staff and a beautiful view of the Acropolis from our room. Very well-situated. Excellent choice.

The fact that there were no tea/coffee making facilities within the room.

Location,big,quiet and clean rooms and the young lady at the reception was very kind.

The 24hour reception simply doesn't exist,we rang at the bell for 20 minutes when we came back at night and a guest had to come down and let us in.In addition,they were renovating some rooms and as a result,the room that I had booked wasn't ready,although they thought it was,the lights at the corridors weren't working,but all of that could mean nothing if the staff was better. To sum up,it's location and condition of the rooms makes it a good choice for a trip to Athens,but be prepared for little things like this that can spoil your good mood...

The location is perfect next to the center, metro and train station and all the nice shops and caffes in Ermou street. The staff was very friendly and helpful.

The Wireless service was worthless, even when you were lucky enough to find the network the connection lastet about 10 minutes and then you would lose it forever. Some loafers and a comforter would have been nice remember to take some with othewise you have to go barefoot.

Fantastic location - all main attractions are easily walkable from there. Friendly staff.

Strikes meant there was no metro or buses to the port or the airport - beware of being ripped off by the taxi drivers. Always agree the price before getting in!

Elpida was very helpful, the room was clean, the heating worked, the beds were comfortable, the hotel is central, great value for money!

the smell of the carpets, shabby towels (but you cannot expect perfectly new towels and furniture in a budget hotel so we would definitelly recommend this hotel and stay there again!)

Thank you Athos Hotel. We arrived there in a very early morning, but the staff offered to store our luggage for us and get our room ready for an hour or so. This positively surprised us. But such surprises were very much in store for us, from this hotel. It was located in the heart of touristic Athens. It was a 2-minutes walk from whatever amenities/attractions you could think of. You could turn your head left side and there you could see Syntagma Square (where you had McDonalds, Happy Train, treateries, coffee shops, outdoor activities, etc.) Turn your head at your right and you could "feel the rush of Ermio Street (Man! The wonderful spirit of Athens with its multicultural blend comes right up at you with pleasure, art and fun). Please turn your head at the other side and the Monastiraki Square could "feed" you with Hundred-and- one tavernas beautifully arrayed along clean streets offering you abundant food with very affordable price. Never leave Greece without trying Gyros, Kebab, Mousaka and the magnificent Greek Frozen Yogurt. Heads up to FroYo! And finally, you just had to raise your head and say hello to the little grandiose mighty Acropolis. You could NEVER ask this much from a budget-friendly hotel. It was exceptionally clean. It was warm. It was quiet. It was very comfortable. The staff was VERY helpful. They all spoke English. They could provide information to any request one could think of. We could never ask for more from a well-trained staff, educated and professionally polite. This one goes out to you Jimmy ! Efharisto para poli. Thanks Athos Hotel for making this 2012 Christmas the best one so far!

The small size allows the staff to be very attentive. After my initial arrival the front desk staff always recognized and greeted me on my way in and out.

The hotel is on a small side street, so sometimes cabbies did not recognize the address at first. I brought the Booking.com confirmation page with me and the first cabbie from the airport called the hotel to get directions. After that I used the Metropole Church as a landmark, since it is about 100m from the hotel. Also easy to find if you mark it on a map.

The staff were really friendly. The room was large enough and comfortable. Right in the centre of Athens - convenient for everything. For a three star hotel very nice.

Very friendly staff, perfect location near Syntagma, environment with plenty of shops, markets, restaurants, view from balcony and roof garden to Acropolis is breathtaking
