FAQs about hotels in Athens

Dynamic City With 3400 Years of History

With the Acropolis as the jewel in the archaeological crown of Athens, this city is full of history while embracing the future. Take a stroll back in time through the neoclassical streets of the Plaka, where you'll find tavernas serving tantalizing souvlaki and mousaka, street vendors and live entertainment.

A trip to the Parthenon and the Agora top most lists and can also be appreciated from a distance by walking along the Dionysiou Aeropagitou street, which is away from the busy crowds of the city center.

The changing of the guard occurs every hour on the famous Syntagma Square. From here, Ermou Street provides shopaholics with a fashionable retail sanctuary. The upscale districts Kolonaki and Kifisia are also bursting with fancy boutiques, galleries and bars.

Athens has some of the finest museums in the world, such as the National Archaeological, Acropolis and Benaki Museums. From Athens International Airport to the Port of Piraeus, this is a city bustling with the old and new. On Booking.com you can find everything from modern hotels to a room in a classical building.

Athens in March is not overcrowded with tourists.

Athens in March is not overcrowded with tourists. Temperature is perfect for walking to all ancient sites and museums. Most of the tourist restaurants have heaters outside because in the evenings it is a little too cold without coat and heater.

Definitely the place to be if you are into history and arts.

Definitely the place to be if you are into history and arts. Also I noticed that recently it got elevated gastronomically. Not a clean city and you could say that there is a huge pay gap between upper and lower classes. The fact that the city is not hospitable to the locals themselves, it makes it also not appealing to tourists. Everything got more expensive the last few years and you can sense that it drains the locals. Therefore if you are a person with a bit of sensitivity on social matters, it makes the whole experience awkward, to say the least. Last but not least, it doesn't feel like a safe place for women to walk alone during the night.

We're over 75, so a little more time would be good.

We're over 75, so a little more time would be good. After the Acropolis and Museum, we needed a day to recuperate, but younger travelers could do more activities. There are enough historic sites in Athens, and the surrounding area to keep you busy for weeks, if you want. It's amazing to see just the remnants of what Greece did over 3000 years ago.!

    The staff were so wonderful.

The staff were so wonderful. The rooms were clean and well equipped. Service was impeccable. Unfortunately what they don’t show in their advertisements is the street that the hotel is on .. it’s very rundown, however close to the main neighbourhood you want to be in. Our balcony view faced out directly to an abandoned building which was extremely dissappointing. The breakfast was also not the best. extremely limited and not worth the €10. Go out for breakfast instead you will spend the same and have more options. Would I stay here again? Personally no. However it’s a great option for location if you’re not super picky about the things I mentioned above. Again, the staff were exceptional, the facilities were clean and very well taken care of, just not what we would have expected based on pictures and certainly didn’t love our balcony facing a slowly disintegrating abandoned building.

Grey line hip on hop off bus was pretty rubbish tbh.

Grey line hip on hop off bus was pretty rubbish tbh. We used a multiple entry ticket for the Acropolis, museum, Agora, etc, over two days from Get Your Guide which was great value for money. Book your slot for the Acropolis for morning if possible. you actually get into the museums in Athens for free on a Sunday. eat a few streets away from any site as it's cheaper. We ate at saita's in the Plaka area 2 of 3 nights - home cooked food & wine at great prices & great service. We tried one of the "posher" restaurants on our other night which was poor in comparison. Athens is full of graffiti like lots of cities. Found locals to be very friendly & helpful. Underground makes it easy to get about.

We had a great time during our stay in Greece. Despite initial concerns about check-in, the process was smooth and easy thanks to the hotel manager, Dimitris, who provided detailed instructions and was always available to answer our questions. The room was small but clean, comfortable and quiet. The kitchen was well equipped. The view of the Parthenon from the seventh floor was amazing. The apartment was in a great location, close to dining, shopping and attractions. We enjoyed walking around the city and seeing the sights.

Nice apartment and in a very good position! We've been to Athens many times and we are happy with our choice. Great beds and very comfortable. Pillows are also comfy! The kitchen is fully equipped. Also despite the fact that in Greece the internet connection is not strong enough, this apartment provides a high-quality wifi connection. The check-in process is also soft and easy and the host allows us an early check-in. We will prefer it in the future for sure!

The staff went beyond my expectations. They took the time to explain me how to spend my 2 days in Athens best and where to have my laundry done. Also they have been the best in terms of (Covid) hygiene during my Greece trip (out of the 9 hotels i have visited so far). Finally, there is a decent supermarket next door where you can buy water and snacks for a nice price.

Getting access and the keys was easy. It is a very big apartment by Greece standards with no tv in the lounge room. It is located a minutes walk from Monastitaki station and an easy walk to the sites of Athens with no tv in the lounge room. Right across the road is a luggage storage shop, Mr John is more than happy to help with no tv in the lounge room.
