location, value for money, late check in
The staff went above and beyond to accommodate us. Also the property is located near all the famous sites.
Convenient location, nice staff, clean room.
It was cold at night and the air conditioner didn't seem to work properly (in the "heat" mode). There is no other heating system except of three blankets which, unfortunately, didn't help much in my case. The room was tiny, I mean really tiny. TV was old (from the 80's probably).
location was amazing. The room was spotless and cleaned every day.
Because there was no shower stall the bathroom was always wet.
Room cleaned everyday, basic but adequate to price, good location, 4 min to tube station, plenty of restaurants nearby
Quite noisy from early morning but that's unavoidable I believe, be prepared for a lot of steps
Perfect location. The stuff was helpful and kind. Very clean. Very good wifi connection.
rooms cleaned daily. cheap water in vending machine. close to some good restaurants on psiri square. Not too far from the acropolis or the plaka. close to the monastiraki station, with a train that goes to and from the airport.
Skinny pillows, and only one per person. If you need extra let them know ahead of time, the reception desk doesn't have access to the extras. (only the cleaning staff does) our view was a high wall so we couldn't even see the sky from the second floor. You have to use a card to turn on the lights and heat in the room, but you have to hand your key in every time you leave, so in the winter your room gets pretty cold while you're gone. no shower curtain so water gets everywhere. You can not open the bathroom window in our room, and there isn't ventilation, so it got pretty steamy.
The staff are absolutely lovely, very helpful, and the location is great too. Thanks again!
If you're a light sleeper, bring earplugs as the rooms aren't very soundproof. Wasn't a problem for us though!
Cleanliness, Staff, Location
Room window is looking out at small inner space
Location is excellent, only 2 minutes walk to Metro Station, 5 minutes to Monasteraki Square, Ermou Shopping Area and Psiri Area for Restaurants and Night Entertainment. The price for this Hotel is fair but shouldn't be any higher
The lady at reception desk is not the friendliest and doesn't seem to be very competent. No PC for guests provided. The offered Airport Shuttle is a taxi service with high charge ( 50 Euros ) and taxi driver even tries to charge more at the end.
Close to metro station and not far from the Acropolis. The staff is friendly. Although the room is old, bedding articles are quite clean.
The location is not that good, as the street in front of the door seems disorderly. Room is not that new, but in considering the price, it is fair. Wifi was entirely broken down when I stayed here.
I liked the location, it is very close to the acropolis, but on a side street so that it is quiet at night. Clean Hotel, friendly staff. No breakfast, would stay here again. I was a solo traveller (female, 21) and I felt safe, and content.
The staffs were very nice, accomodating and helpful, to the point of even letting me keep my bags at the hotel since my flight was at 9pm. Great location : walking distance to 2 stations : Ommonia and Monastriki. Room was a bit small, but since I travelled solo, it was a good value for money.
The only problem I had was with the WiFi. Could not connect to any throughout my stay there.
friendly receptionists great location very clean
Great location with very friendly staff. Good deal for price per night.
When I arrived window on room was open, that evening I closed it. I woke up in the night with the room smelling like someone smoked in the room before. When asked, staff confirms that it's a hotel where you allowed to smoke. I moved to other room, which was better, but since some smoked in attached room I ended 4 out of 5 night sleeping in a room that smells like smoking cigarettes. My clotes got the smell as well. If you're ok with sleeping in room that can smell to smoked cigarettes this hotel is an absolute good one, if not, better look for a non-smoking hotel
24 h. reception good locality (monuments, market (fruits, fish...) and also supemarket very near) nice staff good price cleaning every day
poor signal of wifi
Very cheap and clean rooms, friendly staff, snack dispenser machine in hallway, small "cafe-environment" with magazines and books.
No shower curtain, poor view to backyard from the window
Convenient location - a few minutes to Monastiraki metro station with a direct connection to the airport and a short walk towards Acropolis, historic Plaka, Parliament square, etc. The street looks a bit dodgy at first sight (if you arrive at night like me), but that's just the graffiti, the area is safe. The price is really good for this location but you can't expect much, the room was pretty spartan with just a small painted window, the bathroom is a toillet and shower 2-in-1. But the bed was comfortable enough. Wifi was good.
The walls are paper thin so you hear a lot of noise - people talking, walking the wooden stairs, water running in bathrooms, etc, so I don't reccommend if you're a light sleeper.
good location, the bed was comfortable and clean
I had asked for as quiet room - and I was woken three times in the middle of the night - first time at 1 am with noisy men at the reception shouting, their voices carried all the way up the stairs; was woken yet again at 3 am by a member of staff banging the door next to my room, when I went out of the room to see what was happening I was told he was doing laundry and just doing his job - but hey, do you do this at 3 am next to a guest bedroom? Truly awful experience ... a horrible end to a holiday in Greece
Great Location and in quiet street.
Arriving in the evening the street looks rather rundown but in the morning when the shops open it comes to life and is thoroughly exhilerating!
Very friendly hosts, hotel in a great location, very good value for money!!
Great location and low price
The Athinaikon has the acoustics worthy of an amphitheatre. The couple arguing 2 doors down the hall was as vivid as an Mexican soap opera, which was good since I never managed to get the TV working. The standard of the rooms are pretty low but so are the prices. Not very comfy beds and a cramped bathroom with wet floor for a day if using the shower.
