Best Western Hotel Museum16, Bouboulinas street, 10682 Athens (Show map) Very good, Score from 211 reviews“The hotel's staff are a delight, they have been extremely helpful and arranged for all we needed, gave helpful tips about local restaurants etc. For us the very positiove point is that this hotel is located where Greek people actually live so there is plenty of restaurants which offer very nice food at reasonable prices rather than the tourist dishes one gets in many Plaka places.”

Central location, behind Athens Polytechnic and old Museum. Clean hotel fo those on modest budget . Value for money hotel. Friendly staff. Although being central, area slightly dodgy next to Exarhia neighbourhood, where anarchist groups protest and live. Do not be alarmed to see police in riot gear regularly camping outside the hotel at night to prevent trouble. Also be careful walking along the pedestrian road where drug addicts tend to frequent at night. Athens is currntly a city in crisis: flooded with immigrants, petty and other crime and unrest due to financial crisis. Dodgy surrounding neighbourhood. Maybe better stay slightly out of centre of Athens to avoid getting caught in riots! Book

We were there for Athens Classic Marathon. The staff was so friendly and helpful - where to go, how to get there. They put out breakfast for us before the marathon - at 5 AM. Very good service. Will definately choose this hotel again.

Hotel staffs are very helpful and supportive. Room is clean and quiet. Breakfest is ok. But the surrounding is pretty bad, we had to walk 10 to 15 min to Omonia Metro station, and you will see some drugaddicts even during daytime. We don't feel safe walking back to hotel through those people at night.

Staff were very welcoming and helpful The location walked past a women smoking a crack pipe in the doorway of a building adjacent to the hotel. Some of the street smelt strongly of urine and lots of vomit on the pavement. Quite off putting.

The staff were amazing. Very helpful from tips about the city to prices we should expect to pay for different things (like taxis). Super courteous. Was nice to have wifi access and free printing. The free breakfast was nice (food was okay and kept well stocked). The main negative was the location. We bought the city tour bus tickets and the stop was one block away in front of the Archaeological museum. Had to pass through one solid block of drug addicts and the likes. Quite scary when we are traveling with 2 young children. The staff are aware of the situation but unfortunately can't have any control over it. Didn't go out much at night because of the surroundings.

The hotel is great value, and the staff are fantastic. My daughter and I were there during the Oct 2011 civil unrest, and we never felt in any bother by it all. The staff, especially Emmanuel, were very helpful with travel arrangements, especially as the public transport were in disarray. We got to the hotel and away with the great help of Emmanuel, and my daughter was most impressed with his calming manner in the situation. The old Greek philosophy of 'there is always a solution', was very evident. The room staff, and kitchen staff were fantastic, friendly, and very efficient. The room was a delifght to stay in and the breakfast was more than adequate to set us up for the day. We walked kilometres every day and it was nice to get 'home' to the room and relax. Thanks to the staff of Best Western Museum, Athens. See you again sometime.

We really liked the courteous and helpful staff under the management of Mr. Emmanuel Kardamis. Our two-day stay in Athens before boarding our cruise ship was eye-opening and enjoyable. We felt that we could rely on the hotel staff for anything from booking a taxi to finding our way in the city.

The stay for the price was reasonable and it was centrally located. Parking is at a nearby parking lot, or you can risk leaving your car outside on the street. The hotel is located on a very small narrow street, and its difficult to get to by car/ and the tour buses blocked the one-way road to get there as well. The neighbourhood wasnt very nice. Does not feel safe to walk around outside alone. The graffiti, burnt out cars did put you off. There were protests going on at the time nearby and it was noisy.

The staff was very friendly and helpful. Took time to explain how to get around and what it should cost. Location was a short walk to the Metro station, which made it easy to get back to the airport for our next flight. The surrounding area was a bit edgy, but reflected the real life people of Athens. Not really located in a touristy area. The lifestyle of the people that lived in the area was very Bohemian. Nothing

Great staff, very friendly. The location is very good, (behind the Archeological Museum, every historical spot is practically in walking distance), but there is a big problem with drug edicts in neighborhood.

Very serviceminded staff, perfect with wifi in the room, and perfect with a suite that had room for us all ( including 2 small children) The location was - for us - surprisingly bad - with lots of drugaddicts and other troubled people outside. As a woman with kids I didnt feel safe.

It was a good price and the facilities were excellent. The hotel is located in a part of Athens that is not good for families traveling with children. We didn't feel safe around the streets surrounding the hotel.

The staff and management of Best Western Museum hotel could not be better or more hospitable or friendly. At the front desk are all 4-star mature young English speaking men in their a+ service and assistance. The rooms are spotlessly clean, with fridges to keep things really cold. The internet wifi works like a dream, high speed, always, in your room! They even have a free printer with two standing computers for your use in one of the middle lobbies. The hotel is away from the super tourist areas, all the remade old streets of central athens near the ruins were somewhat Disneyfied for the Olympics in 2004. You are near real Greek restaurants and tavernas, that do not just cater to tourists but to Athenians. You are a 2 minute walk from the best camera and electronics stores in all of athens. You are five minutes walk from the Bohemian and artistic heart of the city, Excharia Square. Even Omonia Square ten minutes walk away with a big 2 line Metro stop there, is tame by New York City standards. Yeah, there are a few anarchists hanging around Omonia Square, but many many shops and stores, which are far better than Athens Mall on a distant metro stop, with jacked up prices, and not really much to choose from. So take it from me, Great Western Museum hotel has a great location if you like culture, real people and not just other tourists, real tavernas, talking quietly with protestors relaxing in the sun in Excharia Square, or shopping for the best deals all in one big square with many little streets radiating outwards from it. There is a grocery store one minute from the hotel. Emmanuel the manager is a prince and born for the job. Best Western Museum Hotel in Athens was my best experience traveling from Russia to Germany to Italy to Greece, ending up back home in Tbilisi. The hotel is in a perfect location, despite what some south african woman said in her second review, after her second stay in the bw Museum Hotel. Bad things? There is an alleyway near the hotel, full of recovering and exhibitionist junkies, but they are also living in the doorways of the world famous Archaeological Museum of Athens, next door to the Museum Hotel. Get it, world class Athens Archaeological Museum, with the best statues of antiquity inside, is next to the Best Western museum Hotel, next door. Armed commandos are 10 meters from the hotel door, to protect the Minister of Culture in his ministry next to the hotel also. Many government ministers and the manager of Best Western Museum Hotel, Emmanuel, have filed legal briefs with a dozen circuit courts, to no avail, for almost two years, since this junkie problem was flushed from Excharia Sq. To the Museum. But on my 5th day and last at the hotel, the police were in full force flushing the junkies away! The addicts then used the store fronts of the many shoe shops near Omonia Square to shoot up, as a result, an even bigger mess! So the legal letters of Emmanuel the hotel manager, and his minister friends, must be taking effect now. Otherwise, the location is great. I only have a little complaint. The breakfast is not really American. The 2nd day I found the large selection uninviting, including the Russian style crepe pancakes that are called American style. But if you want to save money, the breakfast is fine. The free maps are almost as good as the aaa club of usa.

We received a very warm welcome from the hotel manager and his staff. The hotel was clean and comfortable and good value for money. The reception staff were very helpful. We discovered late in the evening that the shower head could not be attached to the wall bracket making it impossible to take a shower. It was not possible to take a bath either as there was not plug for the bath tub. We reported the problem to reception and they were able to provide a plug immediately. In the street next to the national archealogical museum there were a number of drug users loitering by the side of the road. We felt a little intimidated by the presence of these people, especially as we walked through the area with 4 children.
