Overlooking the Mediterranean Sea, Big Blue is situated in the lovely village of Myrtos, in south Crete and offers spacious, soundproofed rooms, with free internet access throughout the hotel.

Surrounded by a lovely garden with citrus trees, the fully air conditioned/heated rooms have can private balconies with views of the sea and the village.

There are also BBQ facilities on-site for outdoor dining. Traditional Cretan breakfast is also served for an additional fee.

The beach is just 100 ft from the hotel and there are plenty of outdoor activities that can be accessed around Big Blue. Guests can take a walk through the local forests, go fishing, or rent a car at the hotel and explore the historic sites.

The village has all the local amenities you will need including easy access to public transportation to Heraklion, Ierapetra and Agios Nikolaos.

Area information

The beautiful village of Myrtos is around a small bay in the south of Crete. It has a valley containing citrus and olive groves and banana trees that spreads to the east.

There are two historic settlements near Myrtos and a Roman bath in the west of the village. Visitors will enjoy exploring the ancient sites around the village and along the small hills of the area. Myrtos Vally is home to the largest rocky bridge of Crete, and Crete’s famous gorges, Sarakina and Selakano, are also close by. The lake of Bramiana, featuring over 220 varieties of birds, is an excellent location for nature lovers. Visitors are also advised to rent a bike or take an afternoon walk to the valley and enjoy the scent of the citrus groves.

Heraklion, Agios Nikolaos and Sitia are easily accessible from Myrtos by bus, and the major town of Ierapetra is just 9 miles away. Renting a car or a motorbike will allow visitors to easily access Knossos, Elounda, Plateau of Lasithi and Vai. Boat journeys from Ierapetra to the famous Chrissi Island happen frequently during the day and take just 50 minutes. Chrissi Island has fantastic white sandy coasts and a huge forest of Libyan cedar trees.

Notre chambre (n°12) était vraiment très exigüe: une fois les valises posées par terre, peu de place pour se déplacer. Les chambres de nos voisins étaient plus grandes. Lors de notre séjour, odeur désagréable d'égouts dans notre chambre lors de l'utilisation de la douche et des toilettes! Kylässä ei käy luottokortti maksuvälineenä juuri missään. Tässäkin hotelissa nikotetiin, kun halusimme makssa kortilla. Onnistui kuitenin. Rauhallinen ja hiljainen kylä. Käytiin huoneessa sammuttamassa valot, kun olimme poissa. Hotellin emäntä tuli omilla avaimilla huoneseen vaikka yksi meistä oli huoneessa. Siivooja ei tyhjentänyt tuhkakuppia terassilla, terassi siivottiin huonosti. Astioita ei tiskattu ja mitään pesusientä tai saati tiskiharjaa ei ollut hotellin puolesta. Astiapyyhe löytyi. La camera dove abbiamo soggiornato,probabilmente la più piccola,è veramente piccola al punto di non riuscire a muoversi con una valigia in camera.Il bagno è altrettanto piccolo ed è sprovvisto di piatto doccia. Maria Mature couple ewijk, Netherlands June 22, 2011	een heerlijk groot vierkant terras hoog boven de zee en een fabuleus uitzicht doordat de big blue aan de rand van mirtos ligt met parasol en zitje. wij hebben daar veel gezeten en genoten van dit uitzicht. badkamer te klein door doucherand en douchegordijn dat te hoog hangt, natte badkamer na douchebeurt. regelmatig geen koud water ivm zonnepanelen en warmte buiten. de bedden zijn totaal ongeschikt om op te kennen slapen, bijv. de slaapbank is te smal en te hoog als je niet uitkijkt val je er zo uit, door een opgemetseld muurtje waarop het bed is gemaakt om denk ik als zitbank te kunnen functioneren. veel muggen en vaak gestoken als je er tenminste gevoelig voor bent. de keukenuitzet is veel te minimaal, bijv. een garde ontbreekt, de koekenpan had een kapotte teflonlaag, we konden geen pannekoeken bakken hierdoor. bakken kan alleen met olijfolie of roomboter. het lijkt mij de bedoeling van de eigenaar dat je de grote en de zeer kleine pit zo weinig mogelijk gebruikt, zo is veel in big blue er aan toe, onder andere de badkamer dus ook. een plus sleutel kwijtgeraakt op strand bij ligbedjes, gemeld en niet in rekening gebracht gelukkig. wat de ligging betreft : je moet wel goed ter been zijn er zijn veel trappen naar en vanaf het strand ondanks dat het slechts 30 meter van de zee ligt dit apartement. wil je naar de tabernas geldt eenzelfde verhaal een zeer steile klim het bergje op. autoos staan in de zon de hele dag. Das Zimmer war leider nicht geputzt, dass bedeutete bereits zu Anfang Dreck auf dem Boden, der barfuss laufen unmöglich macht. Der grosse Balkon ist nur mit einem kleinen Tisch ausgestattet und es gibt keine Liegemöglichkeiten. (Luftmatratzen kaufen ist angesagt) Warmes Wasser zum duschen gibt es nur alle 2 Tage.
