The view is fantastic, the location is really good (easy access to
Fira), and the price is hard to beat.
Can anything beat that Santorini caldera view? Waking up to it was amazing (but not worth staying here).
The location was also nice. Fira was right above you (although be prepared to walk a lot) and thus it was easy to get to shops and the bus.
The price for the view is literally unmatched but there is a hidden price of pure discomfort that comes with it.
Don't do it. Just don'T. The beautiful view and great price is
not enough to overcome the negatives: rock-hard bed, run down room,
horrible wifi (dial-up speeds), and awkward staff.
I sleep on a hard bed but man my wife and I got horrible sleep here. While sleeping on my side, my shoulder fell asleep, which only happens when I sleep on the ground. Miserable. Luckily we only stayed two nights.
The room was clean enough but stuff just kept coming up. The sink leaked, the shower drain came up, the handle on the shower twisted off, the shower was uncomfortable, and outside where our table was a drain would deposit a constant puddle of water there. All small things by themselves but combined the facilities were not comfortable.
Calling it wifi is being generous. The speed was so slow you couldn't check anything.
The staff was just awkward. At first we were thankful she walked us through the island and what to do, but then it felt like more of a sales pitch. Then everytime we saw her it was just uncomfortable.
Of note DO NOT use the tours they push on you. Not what they market. Volcano tour is nice (if you like that kind of stuff), but "hot" springs and "wine tasting and hors d'oeuvres" are a sham. It's more like a tepid (and dirty) bathwater cove and we got a half Dixie cup of cheap white wine with no food. I didn't really expect much but I expected at least a red wine and at least one finger food. Anyways save your money and go to dinner in Oia by where all the boats go. You will get the same beautiful sunset without wasting at least half a day and being uncomfortable (from the orange "hot spring") and starving (from the 5 hours and a half Dixie cup of wine).
Overall I felt like Caldera Studios and associated boat tour ruined our trip to Santorini. Stay elsewhere please.
