Cecil Hotel  

Location was perfect - close to everything but not noisy. Staff was friendly and helpful.

The hotel has an excellent location, near the flea market and metro. I felt safe in the area. The price including breakfast is great, efficient A/C, and friendly and responsive staff. The wake up call is followed by 2nd wake up call to be sure you wake up! When leaving early (6 a.m.) they call and tell you breakfast is ready early for you. There wasn't anything I didn't like! I really like the place. I didn't know about the "roof terrace" so perhaps I was there too early in the season before it opened?

Perfect Location. Easy access to public transportation.Friendly staff. Charming old building.

Bathrooms could do with some improvement.

This hotel is close to all attractions including dining and transport. Also had a view to the Acropolis from the room window. Breakfast is good its not over the top.

The road it is on is not the nicest. Bed too hard for me. Breakfast was basic.

Location is perfect. Price is good. Breakfast included but poor.

The location is easy to reach by metro. There is round-the-clock staff that is accommodating. It is within ten minutes walk from the Agora and twenty from Acropolis. Easy walking to food, shopping and public transportation. The accommodations are basic; but clean and neat. If you plan to spend the day in your room and need Holiday Inn quality then don't stay here; but having traveled extensively; many times in developing countries with horrible accommodations we don't need frills. We found this to be a good value for money on our budget constrained trip and would stay here again.

We really did not find anything significant to complain about.

We were given a family suite with two interconnected rooms. Spacious and quiet. All receptionists speak English well and provide valuable info. Close to city center and Monastiri Metro (subway) station, you can get to the hotel via Metro all the way from airport without transferring. Nice breakfast and reasonable price. There is good view of Arcropolis on its rooftop.

Toilet leaking at ground level therefore wet bathroom floor. Very cramped en suite facilities. Extra blankets not available in room, ( but were provided on asking ).

Close to the metro station. Price is good.

The room is facing the street, and turned to be very noisy when a party/musical was going on in the street, which finished till midnight. We could not fall asleep at all.

Everything was perfect in this place, the staff the location, the room, just everything it was the best value for money!!! Its a second away from all the nice places in town. The room was on the roof with a fantastic view of the Acropolis.

The hotel is clean, including shower and sink (though cracked). Old and looking run-down, it is still a good bargain in a wonderful and convenient location. The staff at Reception (we encountered 3 different men) and dining room (for breakfast - included) were helpful, friendly and worthy of recognition.

The room is very small but we didn't need more.

Right in the heart of Athens with friendly staff and a faded, pleasant ambiance.

The location is excellent the room is big and clean and the price is fair.

The bathroom is quite small. Breakfast was fine but we missed vegetables.

Cheap and clean. I just needed a place to stay before going on a cruise . Location is excellent. Spartan rooms and simple continental breakfast but perfectly fine for the price.

This is a very convenient location - in the city center close to the Acropolis. There is a very friendly price. Hospitable hotel staff.

The location is perfect for sightseeing in central Athens. Breakfast is good value and served at civilised hours! A new TV antenna connection is needed but TV is not something I consider all that important staying in a hotel when visiting on holidays in somewhere interesting like Athens. It's just useful when resting or cooling down! The staff are very friendly and helpful too! The hotel's important features have all been upgraded and yet it retains it's old world feel from days gone by!

Only the comments above about the TV, but these are not so important really.

Location comes first, of course, but I liked it;s faded elegance. Staff were extremely welcoming and helpful.

Good location, Funny elevator. Not too fancy, Good value for money. We went to this hotel twice in our trip to greece, once when we came into the country and once when we left it.
