Reception put us in room where TV did not work. Did not realize this until unpacked and ready for bed. Reception offered to change our room. Did not accept the offer. It was late, we were tired to move.
The funky lift !
Breakfast very basic - but ok for the price I guess
The hotel staff where very helpful in arranging the tours along with pointing out places to eat
- Cozy and in center of City - good value for money - possibilities to get early breakfast if U really need this
-The smell of old cigarettes, I can't found the source. -WiFi in rooms working/not working, depends about location of room
Location was close to metro station
Carpets in hallway were old and stained, bathroom in our room was terrible, shower head holder was broken and we could not shower properly. All the tiles were dirty and in a very poor state, we tried to avoid using the bathroom.
Good location just a two minute walk from Monastiraki metro station. Room was basic but comfy and clean. Wifi in my room was excellent but can't speak for other rooms. Breakfast was simple but adequate. Overall a good value budget hotel.
Location was great. View from roof was amazing.
Our room was on the rooftop and we had to go outside to get to it. Very basic room and bathroom and mosquitos were a problem. Wifi not available in the room and weak wifi in dining room.
Great location. Friendly personnel and value for money hotel on a great location.
A nightclub near the hotel disrupted my sleep.
The staff. The elevator. The breakfast
The bathroom. Asked for a double but got 2 singles.
There was no shower curtain in the bathroom.
This hotel is located in the best location, on a main street close to main shopping square. Easy access to public transport to get to beaches etc. Close to ruins etc too. Clean comfy facilities and helpful staff.
Despite the location I would only use this hotel again as a last resort. Just very ancient and the rooms very basic and the beds tiny. For the same money you can find better we moved to the Evripides which was cheaper and a different world.
Basically everything apart from the staff who were great just felt sorry for them having to work in the depressing place.
Location : just 5 minutes walking from Monastiraki, Antic Agora, Plaka
Noise : difficult to rest deeply
good location, clean, good value
The sites and food
The filth in the streets and beggers everywhere
Value, and location between Parthenon and museum. Friendly staff, took care of our early- arrived bags
If you can't stand small rooms and lobby-only WiFi, you might want to pay more and stay elsewhere. It was perfect for our needs and expectations.
Close to the metro
Unsafe area, accosted on two different situations, once at 8 a.m. on Athina Ave.
godt til prisen centralt beliggenhed
Although in Athens' (shockingly decayed, dreary, graffiti-scarred) downtown area, it's in walkable distance to the Parthenon and other major tourist attractions. Good views from rooms on upper floors and the roof. Conscientious cleaning staff.
No Wi-Fi above the second floor. Very limited breakfast.
Proximity to city, wifi access, helpful staff, cleanliness, breakfast buffet, old fashioned lift and spiral staircase.
Small shower - impossible to shower without wetting floor, had to use hand held function.
The location was excellent for sight seeing
There was no wifi except on the first floor. There was no shower curtain and the bathroom was in poor condition. Poor selection for breakfast. Overall the room was not very comfortable.
The location is close to the Metro making it very convenient. The view from the top of the Acropolis was great. The staff were very helpful.
The hotel was an older building with some of the views out of the room were of an old run down building. Breakfast was OK, nothing to write home about.
From the Cecil we were able to spend 2 nights/1 day of sightseeing in Athens prior to Island Hopping for the rest of our vacation. The Cecil is conveniently located to take the Hop On/Hop Off bus tour and to walk to shopping and dining.
With the airport being so far away from the centre of Athens visitors arriving later in the day with luggage must take taxis rather than public transportation.
