We received a wonderful warm reception. The public rooms are beautifully restored, the whole place has great personality. Our room was small but very tasteful and comfortable. Breakfast was just amazing. We enjoyed the quiet location up the gently sloping street.
There was nothing we didn't like.
We loved everything about it! Two night stay, big comfortable bed, outstanding breakfast on the patio with homemade goodies. The building has been beautifully restored, has lovely gardens and sitting areas. The staff was very warm and caring. I can't say enough good things about it, and can't wait to get back!
nothing, I liked it all
Stayed here for part of our honeymoon - the suite we got was the perfect indulgence - spacious, luxurious, we were made to feel very special. Loved it, can't wait to go back.
Love this beautiful place, the rooms, silence, nice breakfast buffet. This year was the second time we stayed at Cotomattae. Last year it was fully booked.
We had a wonderful four-day break at Cotommatae in mid-September. The hotel is absolutely delightful, beautifully appointed rooms well located (away from the bustle of the harbour but close enough to town, restaurants and shops). The outstanding feature was the courteous and helpful staff for whom nothing was too much trouble. They made us feel like their personal guests. Breakfast on the terrace was a delight with wonderful home made preserves and other delicious fare.
Incredible family owned hotel that is worth every penny and more. Quality is excellent and the family goes well beyond the price you pay to make sure everything is perfect!
Everything the place, the staff, the location...
Building materials; Room design; Garden; Staff; Breakfast
Little to grumble about: A few odd plumbing noises; Audio system wouldn't work; WiFi unreliable (but probably an ISP issue - hotel actually puts access points in each room)
The Staff were delightful, the rooms beautiful & the homemade goodies for breakfast were superb!
Very friendly and accommodating staff. Buiding with some history.
5 minute walk from port to the rear of the harbour. Must ensure luggage is taken by donkey, too difficult to carry on cobblestone paths. Not a real problem but wise to do so.
The staff, the room and the breakfast.
The old kitchen the staff the location the quiet
It was perfect! My room was charming, comfortable and spacious. The outside spaces are beautiful and breakfast outside on the little terrace was a delight. Giannis and Martina were fantastic; my daughter's wedding was in Hydra at the time and they were so helpful, friendly and welcoming to us. Honestly a wonderful hotel; it has a very personal, relaxing, home-from-home feel and is beautifully designed. I'd come back in an instant!
Room was very clean and spacious, felt luxurious. Staff were very helpful, breakfast was great.
Wifi didn't work in our room.
The staff was very polite and helpful. Breakfast was very good with a lot of variety. The room was nice decorated offering all the comforts
There was nothing that I didn't like.
Beautifully restored mansion; luxurious linens; abundant & delicious homemade breakfast; friendly, attentive staff; quiet location; very romantic.
Wonderful experience. We stayed 3 nights in a suite. When we return to Hydra for a longer stay, we will stay here.
No issues with the hotel at all but smoking guests in exterior areas were a problem for us as the stench pours through open windows. However, this is Greece and sadly everyone seems to smoke.
The building is nicely restored and well maintained. Every room has either access to a small garden or terrace with daybeds or deck chairs and muted lounge music, giving it a very relaxing atmosphere.
A few simple and inexpensive things could make it a great breakfast, which you would expect for the price: - fresh coffee and a Nespresso for Espresse/Capucciono/Latte instead of coffee in a thermo - fresh fruit salad - walnuts - muesli - fresh eggs any style instead of the plain omelettes in the chafing dish
Room, ambience, proximity to restaurants, shops, local cats, and trails.
One of a kind lovingly restored family mansion. Splendid breakfasts. Part of the island's unique heritage. Quiet location with peaceful town views.
DIm bathroom lighting-the frequent problem of track lighting in high ceilings. Inconsistent water pressure due to the island's chronic water shortage and odespite private cisterns. Poor wifi reception in room, despite supposed individual router.
A fabulous hotel - luxurious, wonderfully relaxing and comfort, peace and tranquility in abundance. I have no problem in recommending this hotel - it really is super!
Incredible staff and beautiful room. It doesn't feel like a hotel; it feels like home. It's away from the noise of the harbor, but so much of a climb to wear you out.
We liked everything about it. Some might gripe that you can't see the harbor, but the views of the town, the rooftops and the hills are beautiful.
Quiet area Not far walking distance from center of town. Very clean and updated
Room was large, terry cloth robes and bedroom slippers were nice touch. Very quiet location but short walk to town and harbor.
We were not told how to operate hot water and that water was not potable. This information is included in the welcome book in the room.
Cotommatae was amazing despite being without power over the entire island for 14 hours. We will definitely return to Cotommatae if we're fortunate enough to return to lovely Hydra! Thanks for your special attention. Les & Pam Barnett
