I loved the styling of the rooms and the hotel. Modern,clean and friendly staff.

We had a wonderful time at Despotiko, we stayed for five days, the room was on the new wing, comfortable bed, fireplace, hairdryer was broken but replaced immediately, the manager was really helpful and polite. Breakfast was ok, not to die for but adequate. The street leading to the hotel is a traditional path, narrow but we managed just fine. If you park down that road, it's only three min walk. Very good value for money.

Very gentle and very professional staff. Cosy rooms with fireplace. Complete breakfast buffet. Parking space. 2 min. Walking distance from the center of Portaria. Picturesque location.

Nothing - how can you like a hotel that caused you so much stress and trouble - just read below !

To start with, the hotel didn't put a real adress into booking.com. So we just knew it was between 2 villages as it gave the name of those 2 villages as streetname. We started our journey to the hotel uphill, with stil 60km of fuel in the tank. It was 18:30, and the hotel would be like another 10km, so plenty of time to get there before it got dark. That's what we thought. It was a small curvy road up the hill. By the time we reached the first village, it was 19:00 and starting to get dark. A lot of hotel nameplates along the way, including a large sign for Despotiko, to go straight ahead. But when we had passed through the village, we hadn't seen the hotel or any sign pointing to it any more. OK, so it'll be a bit outside the village. So we continued to drive uphill. It was getting darker in the curvy roads and the light started flashing that we were running out of fuel... The hotel should be just around the next curve ... yeah sure ! 11km out of the mountain village we decided to head back down the mountain, hoping our remaining fuel would last till the mountain village and hoping there would be a gas station which would still be open. That was 19:40. I raced down the mountain - probably too fast and taking too much risk - panicking. We still made it to the mountain village just before 20:00 and found a gasstation. We asked for the hotel there - yes ... next to the church in the village itself. Right : next to the church there's a tiny small path, with houses left and right that barely leave enough space for a car. There was a small sign to the hotel like a meter into that narrow street, so impossible to find when driving by. OK - we now knew where our hotel was. Now still getting there by car. The street was so narrow and steep that I stayed at the driving wheel and my husband went outside to give directions in order not to scratch our car on the houses left and right of the tiny street. It took us another half an hour and a lot of stress to cover those last...

The staff is hospitabile and friendly, as is the facility itself. The hotel design is personal, soothing , ununtrusive, and in excellent taste. The grounds and rooms are meticuolesley mentained. It is what I want a hotel to be like.

For an easier arrival-make sure you know how to spell Despotiko in greek. The signs are in greek and are essential to find your way to the hotel which is hidden in a maze of narrow-steep-cobblestone paved alleys. Once you get there you can relax.

Excellent location in of the most quiet place of Portaria mountain village. Superb quality of renovated traditional building I stayed.

In the room I stayed the W.C. was too small.

Service and host excellent. Always friendly and helpful - nothing too much trouble. Lovely room and amazing view. Great recommendations for eating out and other destinations. Great value for money. Would definately go back.

Ah, what can I say? What a place... We had an excellent stay at rhe hotel. The sraff was extremely helpful and accommodating. The hotel itself is wonderful, both the new and historical building, are decorated in a very tasteful manner, with modern furnishings. They are all locared in a compound with their own large parking. Very good breakfast. I could sit there for a long time and just admire the buildings an layout of the place. Also, they are completing a wooden deck and swimming pool, in order to complement the services provided to guests. Highly recommended!!
