Awesome staff, fabulous breakfast
Located in the heart of Plaka close to shops restaurants and the Acropolis. All walking distance. If you are looking for a comfortable place to crash and walk around history this is the best. If you want 5 star hotel go to one and pay the price. Otherwise stay at this friendly family atmosphere hostel.
I was worried about other reviews but I had a good room, big, with a double bed and clean. Wifi signal even worked because of the closeness to the source. It's close to Plaka, around the Acropolis.
Breakfast it's too basic, bread with French toast and jam. Coffee. That's all, you might not ask for something much because of the price but there wasn't fruit or juice. The neighbourhood looks sketchy but thats the city. So even if you find a better hotel you'll walk through some dark alleys and graffiti painted streets cause apparently that's just how Athens is. A shame for a city that holds great places of history and culture.
Attentive and helpful staff especially Jola the housekeeper and breakfast runner, very central location, great value for money
Contacted the hotel a week before arrival, although my stay was perfect the fact that no one replied made a weak impression
We really liked being so close to everything sight seeing wise. We enjoyed taking a hot shower every day too.
Our room wouldn't lock, we had gotten a private room specifically so we could lock our belongings in the room. Also I guess there's no quiet time because there were people awake and loud on a weekday until about 3 am, it was awful.
The staff very helpful
We loved the location. We were walking distance from everything. Given the price we paid, we were extremely happy.
The room we were in faced the Main Street and we found it quite loud in our room (noise from both the street and neighbouring rooms/ the hall). Breakfast was also a bit disappointing, the complimentary meal consisted of bread and Nutella.
The staff is warm-heart, showed us how to go to the port in very detailed and marked on the map; The location is excellent, near to Syntagma Square, Olympieion, and Acropolis.
The breakfast is included, which starts at 7:30. We leave early and want to take some bread with us in advance, but they said it is brought by somebody else rather than prepared by them. I cannot blame them but I do feel unfair because I paid for the breakfast but had nothing.
Location. Walking from the syntagma square, acropolis. Great value for money
The description about the room on the booking site is not real. The rooms have no view or balcony. They say they are overbooked and hence you might end up with different category of rooms.
The hotel was near every place of interest.
Mosquitoes bite me at night.
It's close to everything
Very unhelpful staff, dirty and broken bathroom facilities, dirty bedsheets, bad noise insulation (we were hearing persons from other rooms snooring), very poor breakfast. The photos from the website are totally photoshopped. It's totally not good value for money!
The location was great and the staff were very helpful. In the night we left our window open and the hotel cat came in and slept in our bed. Good thing we're cat lovers.
the rooms were not very clean and there was a lot of noise in the hallways. The bed was not very comfortable
The location was great. The staff were friendly and helpful. Good value for the money but ... be advised.
Older facility - needed updating (bit of a dump really) - e.g. squeaking doors Breakfast was weak. No TV. Air conditioning controlled by staff.
staff keep baggages after check out
very dirty awful smell poor breakfast etc...
Really, the bed bugs.
location is really great, just few steps from acropolis and nice Plaka area with plenty shops and restaurants. Close to the metro station.
Most horrible thing is aircon rule... you can't have your own remote controller, so every time you want to turn it on you have to go out and find the stuff to do it for you. it is especially great in the middle of the night, because they turn it on for no longer than 2 hours.... bathroom is broken and dirty, i guess they clean it once in several days. Wi-Fi is only available in public areas. Breakfast suppose to start at 8, but normally it is 30 min late. It is big deal in summer, coz early morning is the only time when you can comfortably visit acropolis.
Decrepit rooms with bunk beds and bathroom facilities had no soap. Room was advertised to have A/C but the receptionist kept the remote in his possession and then switched it off at the mains at 3 am -- we woke up sweating in the early hours and had to go ask someone to turn it back on -- and it switched off again after 20 mins. We were woken up by noisy people chatting just outside our window at 8 am. I later found that a whole apartment could be rented for the same price €60 per night on AirBnB.....
The staff were very nice and helpful
The bathrooms were disgusting, the rooms were not particularly clean, the common areas were really dirty, the included breakfast was non-existent, the internet didn't work.
We are a family of 2 adults and 3 children and stayed for 3 nights. The rooms were quiet and clean. The location is very central and there is a nice back-yard garden. No great luxury but a cosy hostel-like atmosphere (no kitchen facilities though). Good value for money.
The location is excellent, only a few minutes walk from the acropolis and other central sights in Athens. The staff were generally friendly and did sort things out when asked (although often it didn't take long for things to break again...). Easy to get laundry done. The patio area is nice at the back of the property. Good wifi.
This "hotel" is very definitely a hostel, fair enough it was cheap but there were other cheaper places available when we booked. We chose Dioskouros because it seemed to have the most character from the website - mistake! Staff were not friendly when we arrived. Lights were fused on the stairs. Electricity and air conditioning did not work in our room (main light did). When we mentioned this after a couple of days (our choice) the staff did manage to turn the power back on (the air con didn't start but I think that they could have fixed that if we had asked) but it tripped again about 8 hours later. We didn't bother asking about it again because everything seemed to be very run down/a bit broken and we just assumed that the staff didn't care - this may not be the case. The place needs a serious clean - I have a reasonable tolerance for shared bathrooms/living areas (I have done a few glastonbury's quite happily) but these were just filthy. Toilet seats that were no longer attached. No toilet paper. Very rudimentary doors on the showers etc. It is a real shame because the building is nice and with a very small amount of effort this could be a great basic place to stay. Breakfast was pathetic. We only went once because the selection of dry bread, something that might have been chocolate spread, coffee that had been through the filter previously (we saw this, not just a guess) and eggy bread of some vintage looked awful.
So close to the Acropolis it's amazing.
For the price we expected a little more. Shared toilets and showers are very average. Backpackers slumming here.
The courtyard out the back is very cosy and welcoming. Very nice place to sit and relax.
The amenities were out of order for our stay.
There is a little garden with tv in the hostel. The room is tidy and comfortable. Close to the sights.
The toilet is not clean, as there is no curtian for the shower. Our room cannot recieive wifi. No kitchen or microwave for us to use.
The staff was very helpful and polite. They told us what to visit in the city as well as what areas to avoid. The location of the hotel is truly excellent. We didn't need the metro to get around! By the way, try their burger! It's one of the best we've ever had!
The bathrooms were not what we expected they were not very clean looking. Wear flip flops for showers.
