Very friendly staff and very good service. Great location for touring the old town or shopping. Reasonable price. The very basic breakfast was charged extra, however, this could have been included in the price of 60 euros/room. As we have found, other similar or even better hotels just a few hundred yards away offer rooms with breakfast for the same price.

In an excellent position, literally 2 minutes away from Tavernas and harbour with shops close by. The staff were extremely helpful especially on planning trips around the area. The breakfast was excellent, fresh pastries, yoghurt, toasts and fresh juice. Of the 2 rooms we stayed in, one could with a little upgrading, the other room was lovely.

Very central to old Town area of Chania and handy for the harbour/beach area. Good prices if you just pop in rather than book. Room standards/decoration vary greatly depending on what room you have been allocated.

Found the staff extremely friendly and helpful with maps and things to do and places to see and how to get there with public transport. My room was quaintly furnished very large. Thoroughly enjoyed my stay there and would recommend it. Very central in old town chania . Window opened up into laneway which was lovely during the daytime but could be noisy with window opened at night.

Hotel location is excellent very near the harbour. Great design of room in the Doge hotel, with a double bed on the mezanine floor, and two four poster single beds on the ground floor. Room slightly tatty, but clean. Enormous breakfast. Room slightly tatty, but otherwise fine

The staff was warm and welcoming. The room was beautiful and very clean. The hotel is located in beautiful Old Chania and makes for a wonderful vacation experience. There is no parking, but there is public parking nearby. If you are ok with that, the Doge Hotel puts you right in the mix of a pedestrian only (except for a few scooters) shopping district only a block from the ocean. You can enjoy local culture while finding Starbucks and a market just around the corner. Breakfast was included with our stay and was amazing! Great hotel and great location! I can never get used to a shower without a shower curtain, so that is always uncomfortable for me. Also, there was quite a bit of noise on the street just outside our room. But as an experienced traveler, I handle that with a white noise app on my iPad.

Excellent service, excellent room, excellent breakfast and all at a reasonable price. Only drawback is that if you come by car in the summer you will have difficulty finding somewhere to park in the middle of Chania.

Rooms are large and beautiful. Have oven, frig and bar counter. Think Venetian styled beds that alone is worth going for. And for the location in Hania right near the water, bars, restaurants, you can't beat it. Staff was not that knowledgeable and had problems with hot water but still loved the room enough to overcome those issues.

Was a fantastic location right in heart of old town, reasonably priced. The room was decorated beautifully, extremely clean & comfortable and well serviced. As a solo traveller was a good place to be, in a safe location to walk to & from at night & very welcoming. Breakfast was also great value, freshly squeezed juice, yoghurt, range of pastries etc. Staff extremely friendly & helpful, can highly recommend to anyone. Loved the ambience of the place & staff.

It's the best one among all 4 hotels we stayed during this holiday, with greatest experience at lowest price. It's in the old town, with traditional outlook but modern facilitaties inside the room. Its location enable us easily reach all the beautiful sites in chania great cities by walk. The staffs provided family-like services, also allowed us extend the check-out till late afternoon without charge.

The location of these rooms is excellent. Right in the centre of all the shopping streets and so close to the Harbour. Everything is easy to access in the old town by exploring on foot. There are many different restaurants to try and all in close proximity. The breakfast supplied is not a buffet and there is no choice but it was light and all that we needed - the juice was freshly squeezed and the greek yoghurt and honey delicious. We did not have a car while we stayed in Hania so could not get to any of the beaches around the west part of the island, but found it is an easy 20min walk to the closest beach (Nea Hora Beach) and were able to get a sun bed and umbrella for 5 euros for the day. The room is very basic and of the 3 nights that we stayed our room was only cleaned on the first day. The shower does not have a shower curtain so you do not want to bring anything into the bathroom as there are no hooks to hang things up on either.

The staff were excellent. Unfortunately there was an issue with our room and we had to stay at alternative accommodation, but it was ok. They did look after us on the price though, so they were very fair. The photos of the original room looked great. The breakfast on our second day was good with fresh natural yoghurt and natural honey, freshly squeezed orange juice and a few pastries. We were offered a few sandwiches for our early start out to Samaria Gorge, but never received anything. Unfortunately we had to buy something from Everest on the way to the bus terminal which was terrible.

The Doge is a charming and informal hotel. It doesn't really have a proper reception, or dining room, but this does not matter...what it does have is done well. Breakfast is served at a little row of tables in the cobbled street that the hotel opens on to, and it is a delight to sit and watch the other shops and trades slowly waking up and opening around you on the street in the morning. The breakfast is the same every day - a generous serving of toasted sandwiches, pastries, greek yogurt and honey, coffee and juice. The rooms are good sized, have high ceilings and nicely furnished in ethnic and quasi-venetian style. The bathrooms are small but adequate. Lovely views down the cobbled street to the harbour and sea.

As a whole, an excellent place to stay: a wonderful location right in the middle of the old town, surrounded by narrow streets alive day and night with people and music; quite a large room, well designed and furnished with a personality, in the style of a good, old-fashioned home; and above all really nice staff, friendly and smiling but none the less efficient and precise. I think that not a small part of the good impression we had of the city of Chania was due to this hotel.
