Our stay was perfect - wish we had more time. Everything we asked for was quickly provided for us. Dinner at the restaurant gazing at the Acropolis was the icing on the cake - dinner was amazing! We are looking forward to staying there again.

The location was superb and the staff were very friendly and helpful. The rooms were very disappointing considering the price and the fact the it is a 5 star hotel. The rooms aren't as sound proofed as they should be since u can hear people constantly talking and walking down the corridor.

The location was perfect for the Acropolis and shopping. I was disappointed that the hotel could not find us accommodation for an extra night when requested. They preferred to give priority to incoming guests, rather than looking after their current guests. They also offered us a room in an inferior hotel which also disappointed me and then insisted on charging us for this inferior hotel. Not impressed.

Good location. People weren't as friendly as you'd expect. It seemed as if we were a nuisance as opposed to a guest.

The service was outstanding for a city centre hotel, where one normally meets a degree of detachment if not cynicism. The roof top restaurant has a fantastic view of the Acropolis, floodlit at night and service was truly memorable. I ate there three times and the food is award winning. Eva, who I think is in charge, gets my thanks for her attentive service and for introducing me to two of the best Greek wines to enjoy with my last meal without charge.

Excellent location - great view of Acropolis from the top + restarant! Hotel staff very helpful. Breakfast was good. My room was quite warm. The a/c doesn't work in the fall/winter - just heat. They offered to put me in another room but that one had lots of street noise when the window was open.

The location is excellent. Being in the popular Plaka district( old Athens) with close proximity to food tavernas, coffee houses, restaurants, pubs, Asian eateries and beautiful narrow streets of quaint shops selling everything and anything a tourist would look for, one can't ask for more. Plaka is a must see in Athens. Absolutely interesting! I am glad I made the right choice. I particularly like that Electra Palace from the 5th floor on gives a good view of the Acropolis (back) and the night view is amazing. The design of the hotel is warm and cosy. Room service was quick.Thank you! I would appreciate that the rooms are provided with beverages like coffee, tea, bottled water and a water boiler that most hotels do. We could not have hot water to drink even in the cold winter. Taxis from the hotel charges a high premium :( Thank you!

We were running the marathon and it was ideally placed. They also put on special timings for breakfast on race day and a pasta meal the night before which was appreciated. The room was noisy. The sound of the lift/other guests was intrusive. Better soundproofing is needed.

The ventilation system was shut down for the entire stay because the weather was so "mild". As a result, our room was over 80 degrees f and we were forced to sleep with the window open. We were subjected to all the noise and light from a busy city street and could not sleep. The hotel deliberately shut down an advertised service without compensation.

Location Staff gave us a room that did not have a bathtub and was a lesser room across from the maid's closet. We asked to change it and they finally did so. Still not a view room.

I have left my iPad at the lobby unknowingly and to my complete surprise, i managed to pick it up from the front desk several hours later. I am really impressed by the honesty and professionalism of the hotel staff as I was not expecting to find it when I made that enquiry at the front desk.

We chose Electra Palace having previously being delighted & highly satisfied when we stayed there 3 years ago. It still lived up to our expectations, albeit the roof top pool & the hotel itself was busier this time than previously and not quite as tranquil. However this is not a critiscm or fault of the hotel but due to the time of year, we had previously stayed in June. It still leaves a memorable experience swimming on the roof looking directly across to the Acropolis and whilst we have stayed in other hotels in Athens that have fantastic facilities, for this reason alone Electra really does take some beating. Excellent location bang in the centre of Plaka & Monastiraki districts with their wonderful tavernas. Highly recommendable.

Staff were fantastic. Very welcoming and helpful! Superb breakfast with an extensive variety of food to choose from. Pool was great on the top floor with a magnificent view of the Acroplis. Central location with easy walking access to Syntagma Square, Ermou St for shopping and of course the Acroplis and it's museum. Stayed here with our two boys aged 11 and 8. They loved the pool and breakfast. Room were clean and beds were comfortable. We loved it so much that we stayed twice during our holiday in Greece. Will continue to use this hotel each time we visit Athens!

Staff was friendly, location verry good as was the vieuw at the Acropolis! Lovely gourmet restaurant on top of the roof. Also nice swimmingpool on top of the roof. Nice small garden. Although in the middle of the centre verry quiet. Possibility of a late checkout. Indoor swimmingpool area was not verry clean, sauna ligths were broken as was the wood around the sauna heather. Steambad out of order and some tiles on the floor were missing. On top of the roof the wihrlpool was also out of order. These are the plusses of a 5 star hotel and they failed!!!!

Friendly staff who were quick to help and all spoke perfect English. Casual bar for afternoon coffee after shopping. Meals were good but so many local tavernas about it is hard to stay in. We were upgraded free to a suite. The rooftop restaurant is priced too high for guests at the hotel ad there is a huge premium paid for the view of the Acropolis. The hotel thought ahead and provided a pasta party on the eve of the marathon but then allowed a booked conference to play loud musin until 2am when the marathoners had a 5am start.

Can not be beaten for its location for quick and easy access to the major Athens' sites. Breakfast was certainly value for money. Roof top restaurant, although with a limited menu, provided an incredible view that was worth the price of the meal. Compared to other European hotels the room size for price was relatively small. The fittings of our room were a little worn and tired, giving the impression of not being clean; however the bathroom was spotless.

What an amazing stay. Special thank you to eva from the 5th floor restaurant, micheal the bartender and the girl with short hair who served us breakfast, I think her name was Anna? We stayed on the 3rd floor and even though it was only a standard double, it was very spacious and had a view of acropolis which we never expected. Beds were so comfortable that I struggle to sleep in own bed since we returned. The restaurant was the highlight of our stay, we paid for 3 meals each but were given complimentary pre-starters and pre-desserts. The outdoor pool was closed because of the winter season, but the indoor pool and the spa center were available. I can not describe how amazing the stay was, all I can say is that a better priced 5 start hotel just simply doesn't exist.

“An excellent choice for visiting Athens. Athens Gate made our stay a real pleasure. The hotel has a perfect location for tourists, is spotlessly clean, and we really liked the modern decor. The staff was friendly and extremely helpful, especially during the strikes. And, of course, the roof top garden breakfast with views of the Parthenon and city was a perfect way to start any day. A great place to stay and a real value for the money!” Kelly, Fallbrook |
