Epimenidis Hotel  

-Extra charge for the a/c without informing us before -there were no shutters in the rooms -the room was too hot since the a/c cooling was not sufficient -the room was not cleaned every day and no clean towels were supplied -the staff was really rude and did not serve us well at all -there was also too much noise in the hotel

Self catering unit saved us much money. AC worked very well. Staff was friendly. Great stay. Pool looked fantastic but we did not use as beach was just across the street.

The hotel is well restored, well cleaning, with a pool that was inviting and clean. All staff we met were very welcoming and friendly. The location is very central in relation to Platanias and especially to the beach with about 2 minutes walking distance.

In relation to the Norwegian standard, we think the mattresses were hard to sleep on, and that it was a bad wardrobe space. The kitchen was small, with too little closet space. At a minimum it should have been cleaning equipment for the cutlery and salt and pepper.

This place is excellent. It's very clean and spacious, with lovely pool and bar area. Alex, Dave and Tracey run a friendly relaxing place. It's a stone's throw from the beach, on the main road through aghia marina with bars, shops and supermarkets on the doorstep. Never been to Crete before but will definetely go back...to epi'S. Expect a warm welcome from staff who go the extra mile to ensure your stay is top class.

Epimenidis is a family-run hotel, named after the main owner Epi Menidis. They have a really nice and friendly atmosphere, and we felt almost as being part of their family when Epi, his sister Alex, and everyone else in the family and staff were greeting us :-) The hotel is around 150 metres from the beach, a couple of minutes walking to supermarkets, restaurants, and just 10 minutes walking distance from Platanias, where you'll find even more restaurants, clubs and supermarkets. There is a bus stop just outside the hotel. If you are arriving from Chania town, it is the third and last bus stop in Agia Marina, before Platanias. The buses to Chania comes every 15 minutes. The apartment was really nice and clean with a good kitchenette and proper kitchen supplies, nice bathroom, shower, and, believe it or not, two balconies. Even though we were really close to the beach, we could not resist using the hotel pool, since that was quite large and very nice. We also tried the snackbar which had a lot of nice dishes, especially the pancakes. Just to let you understand how service minded they are at this hotel: We arrived on a friday. Late in the evening we decided to pay for air conditioning. However when turning it on, we discovered that it did not work. Epi immediately checked it out himself, and soon thereafter called a repair man. Within 24 hours the air conditioning unit was replaced! Something we did not expect since it was weekend. Lastly, we also have to mention that even if the hotel is located just beside the main road, we weren´t disturbed by any sounds at all. It´s very well soundproof.

AC were a little bit more expensive than expected: 10 Euro/night.
