The garden view room is disappointing, but we were changed after a couple of days to a sea view room without extra charge.
There was also no safe in the first room despite the booking being explicit about it.
Whereas there are signs of cost-cutting, the staff are so friendly and useful that well we had to do was ask and they did their best to make our stay amazing.
Ikaria is a fantastic island with live events and festivals on a daily basis, alongside some very good beaches with waves for surfers and sand for families.
Hotel staff were always very helpful, so for any problems just ask.
Breakfast very good for Greek standards, with day to day variation but also fantastic home made cakes. Was meant to be until 10.30 but staff carried on serving for a bit afterwards as well without complaints.
The pool is medium-size but never too busy as the best beaches are only nearby. It is warm and open 24/7 so we had some great night swims!
The sea view is amazing, including from the pool.
The nightlife is concentrated in the area around the hotel, so it is easy to walk or a take a short drive to most places.
The hotel is a bit on the expensive side at peak times, but we booked well in advance and got a brilliant bargain that was excellent value for money. I would advise paying the extra bit for the sea view, it is worth it.
Try out-of-season periods for trekking. The island is full of rivers and paths, waterfalls and other amazing sightings; ideal not for the summer (too hot) but for spring and autumn (I will go again for those!).
