Score from 354 reviews Good
Clean and comfortable. Slightly out of main town area, avoiding the crowds and was easy to walk to.
Location and lovely swimming pool, helpful staff who transferred us to the port
noise at night, from other hotel users shouting and swimming in the pool at 2.30 am in the morning.
I loved how close the hotel was to everything and also the personal touch of airport transfers nothing was too much trouble and the pool area was fantastic
Quite noisy in the morning but our room was direct under reception so it was to be expected
Lovely Hotel Bed were comfortable Pool was amazing only a short walk to the main area
The Hotel was top notch. They couldn't do enough for us.They even took us to the meeting point for my son,s wedding. It was relaxing with everything in walking distance.Santorini will always have fantastic memories for me with wonderful company..
Having to come home!!!!
Close to town and the pool clean and relaxing. Lots of seating areas throughout. Staff friendly and nice to have transport to and from the ferry/airport.
The shower was the size of a placemat and I almost knocked myself out picking up the soap. The room size was awkward with furniture that allowed barely for one person to pass. The doors were a struggle to close.
friendly staff, free pickup from port and free dropoff to airport 5minute walk to shops and public transport rooms cleaned daily ,beautiful large deep clean pool good value for money.
It must be a european thing 2 single beds pushed together to be a double bed as in athens and rome
Had a good pool
Steep hill to get into town, rooms were extremely small, wifi was really bad, big language barrier with reception
Large pool, parking, family run, near town for breakfast and evening meals though after a week or so you get pretty sick of marching up and down the hill. Free transfer to and from airport. Get a first of second floor room, East facing with balcony
Old tiny shower rooms, wifi is poor, Spartan breakfasts. Rooms on the small side upstairs. Pool level rooms are a bit dark and dingy.
Location - walking distance to the main square and Caldera but not too close to experience crowds and noise. Pool - Lovely and clean, plenty big enough to swim/splash around and in the sun all day. Free transfer to and from airport - Easily arranged via email prior to our departing England. Ready and waiting at arrivals with clear sign. Easy peasy both ways!
Shower was quite small and difficult not to make the entire room wet. We had booked a double room but had two singles pushed together. Other than that, quite comfortable.
I arrived before check in time and they had the room ready for me, so I didn't have to wait. The swimming pool is very good and you can use it even after checking out (if your boat or flight is leaving in the afternoon or evening you can spend the day there, which is very good). Location is awesome.
The breakfast is really poor and you can have a better one if you go to the city center for the same price. But what really bothered me was the awful smell that came from the bathroom. I think it was the ventilation system. Anyway, it smelled really bad and I had to open the balcony door a few times otherwise I couldn't breath inside the bedroom. There are lots of hotel on the same street, I don't know if they are a better deal.
Nice pool. Easy to walk into town and to the local bus stop.
We booked a double bed room and were given three single beds (not the type that can easily be pushed together as there were timber framed). We were not given any other options to move and staff weren't helpful or apologetic.
The bathrooms too small
Perfect stay for the price. Good location close to town. Great to have a pool.
The hotel pool was great and our room had a balcony with a view, but too the east. The staff were very nice and helpful. Santorini is built on the hillside, so you are always going to have steps and hills. We had a very enjoyable stay at the Golden Star!
The room and bathroom were very small. No elevator. You had to walk up a very steep hill to get to the main road.
Positions, shuttle service from/to port/airport, swimming pool
Proximity to downtown Fira was excellent. Great view looking east ( not of the caldera). Nice pool but gets afternoon shade.
We received email confirmation of free pickup at the port, but they did not wait for us to arrive. Resulted in a very expensive transfer from the port. Upon arrival, staff insisted that we did not see them and refused to reimburse us for the transfer. They also informed us that we overpaid by double and yelled and asked why we paid that much. They also argued that transfers were not included in the price of the room. On top of that, they charged us 14 euro pp for what I assume was 2 breakfasts. Breakfast was horrible, stale cereal and fruit cocktail in syrup. We only tried it one day, but didn't even feel like arguing about that double charge.
The pool is amazing! It's so pretty and a nice place to relax. All of the hotel workers were extremely friendly and went above and beyond to help us with an unexpected check-out time. Even the patrons at the hotel were extremely friendly and respectful. I would definitely stay here again. The hotel is located only about a 5 minute walk from the main Firá area of shops and restaurants!
The tile floors easily became dirty/muddy after showers and such.
I booked this hotel as the reviews were decent and I was travelling back from the islands to accompany a friend who had a flight that evening, with a view to returning to the islands the next day. I therefore wanted something no frills and close to thira. The hotel fitted this description. Unfortunately, the reception we received when we arrived can only be described as extremely hostile. The reason for this was that there were two of us rather than one, and of course the room had only been booked for myself as I was the only one staying the night! When I tried to explain the situation to the receptionist and manager at the hotel, all I got back was a very aggressive 'your friend must not enter your room'....over and over again. We were actually looking for their help to book a taxi to the airport but I felt like everything I tried to explain to the woman was being met with- 'no she must not stay in your room'. Finally, when we gave up trying to explain, we asked her where the nearest place to store her luggage was - we were promptly pointed to the door with 0 directions to the tourist office and wandered around in the searing heat for 20 mins. I have been coming to Greece every year since I was born, I am a 30 year old woman who was trying to help out a friend, and I have never had this kind of reception EVER. I felt like the hotel did not treat me like the customer but instead a child or teenager who was trying to 'pull a fast one' to save some pennies. Not only that but she decided yo charge me an extra 50c than what was agreed with booking.com! Not an amount to write home about but given the circumstances polished off the trip. I would never ever recommend anyone to stay at this hotel and if I could give the hospitality rating minus marks I would have! Do not stay here!
Near Fira town and bus square but away from noise. Good pool with all day sun.
No luggage storage. Wifi slow. Breakfast extra cost.
Huge pool not far from town rooms comfortable shuttle bus transfers included from pick up and drop off either airport or port Owner and family very friendly
bathroom was small too far away from beach climb two hills to get to main town
We liked the free service from and to the port. The family owners were polite, friendly and eager to provide proffessional service. Nice big swimming pool, easy to relax as well to have a nice sleep next to it as well in the nice and air conditioned room.
The hotel is next to streets where you might have some noise of passing trucks or busses.
The hotel in general has a good location, satisfying facilities and it's a good value for money.
But, staff and service are of the worst kind.Very sloppy and inconsistant. We made reservation for transortation from the airport upon arrival and not only they didn't show up (I should have figured it from the indifference of the young lady that made the reservation), but there was no apology, they claimed that we didn't notify them. May seem something small, but their whole attitude and lack of professionalism is a very good reason not to even think about visiting this hotel for a second time!
