The views were ok as were the terraces. Following booking i emailed the hotel direct to ask for transfer, no response. Trying to find the hotel was a nightmare in itself, luckily a small taverna in the village we stumbled across showed us the way as no one else we met could speak english, hence the request for transfer. The 1 member of staff spoke little english. The room we stayed in was nothing like the pictures and in fact most of the pics were taken from staff quarters not guest rooms as we loooked in a number of rooms. The electric meter made an awful noise all night when we returned in the evening so had to turn the electric meter of as no staff could be found. The bed was very uncomfortable. The bathroom/shower facilities were poor with a hairdryer that took forever to dry hair. breakfast was a free for all served on the terrace with other guests but if you were not the first up there was no where to sit and not much hospitality. All in all an awful experience we do not want to repeat.

Heliophos is a very nice hotel. We arrived in the morning on the day which we booked a room, and the owner invited us for breakfast. Moreover she allowed us to stay behind after checking out as our ferry is scheduled at night. The breakfast is nice. The room has a spacious balcony, on which you can relax and enjoy the view to the sea. It's about 20-min walk to the crowded area Oia. Definitely a good choice for relaxation. It's a bit difficult to find. If you are coming by bus from Thira, get off at Finikia, then look for a restaurant on the side which you get off. The restaurant has so many photos that you can't miss it. Some of the photos are with celebrities like Stephanie Sun or Green Day. Take the road by the restaurant downslope. Then on your right side there's a small car park. Go through the car park, follow the road and you'll see the hotel. It would be better if there are more road signs starting from the main road.

The owner is very friendly and helpful. Although we have not booked with breakfast she invited to enjoyj it every morning for free. Moreover, Oia (the most beautiful city of Santorini) is only a 10 minutes walk away from the hotel. Since the nearest parking place is 4 minutes away it is pretty exhausting to get there with heavy luggage.

So cute!!!!! Loved this hotel. It gave me the real Greek experience I was looking for. It's a cute Greek cave. Me and my girlfriends loved it and tried to take pictures but they did not do it any justice. The owner was very sweet and the breakfast was good and made you feel at home. She made lots of delicious jams. After I got home I watched a movie called "summer lovers" with Daryl Hannah and the movie brought me back to my Santorini holiday! The place where they stay in movie is very similar. This was one of the best prices I could find in area also. When I walked by some of the other hotels that I was thinking of staying at it made me even happier... I chose the best place. I would stay again and I would encourage others to stay because it's not your typical hotel you can find anywhere else in the world. A lil hard to get to with lots of bags. And don't plan on donkey coming to get you. It's like 10 min walk from center but again.. (walking is good for you)

Room is very clean and nice. The owner is very helpful and kind. The price is very good for the hotel. Very close to Oia. It is not very close to the center. If you plan to drive to the center during the night, it is difficult due to the dark and narrow roads.

Heliophos Hotel is really charming: the restored caves into the rocks with their mix of furniture and objects from all over the world give the place an exotic touch. Situated in the quiet traditional village of Finikia, just 15 min walking from Oia. The owner Sophia makes you very welcome and her breakfast with home made products is delicious!

This pension is absolutely lovely, I'd say it would be perfect for couples (I was with two friends and I was thinking of coming back with my boyfriend...!), the rooms are small houses in the typical style of Santorini's houses, the breakfast is amazing (usual stuff but also olives, dried tomatoes, capers... Yummm) and the woman is very nice and kind! The village of Finikia has a pair of very good taverns but nothing else, not very touristic so it's perfect if you want to avoid the huge crowds of noisy tourists in Santorini The location, Finikia, is about 20min by walk far away from the main city, Oia, and the main street is not really safe to walk on at night (lot of cars and no sidewalk), so we took the bus, still ok but always very crowded. So if you plan to stay long and don't want to be stuck in a lovely but kind of empty village, better if you have a car. Also the beach is reachable in 20mins walk, but it's not the best beach you can think of.

I love the environment, it is very beautiful, clean and comfortable! The Owner is very nice and kind. I really miss her homemade juice, really fresh and quenching. I strongly recommend this accommodation to people who want to live in a traditional cave house in Oia, because it is valuable at price!

Heliophos offered everything that was promised at booking... The location in the traditional cave houses offers a unique and nostalgic holiday in a wonderful setting. The proprietress was amazing... warm, genuine, helpful, (patient because she waited up late to let us in when we were delayed). She offers an amazing and chic ambiance which few other places can rival. Breakfast was an assortment of authentic local products and classic Greek fare... IE real yogurt and wonderful backed goods, canned fruits, etc. Santorini offers two ideal settings for rooms... either looking itno the Caldera, or staying in a cave house like Heliophos. Heliophos offers the cave house setting, well maintained and comfortable, with excellent care from the owners. Wonderful sea views, no noise from roads, but an easy walk into Oia for a sunset meal and drinks after dark. The location of Finikia is great for visiting the entire island if you have a rental car or you are willing to use the public bus system. There are also ample opportunities to hike the island, but it is a very hot desert setting.

The owner Sofia is a bubbly and very helpful person. The accommodaton is reasonably priced unlike hotels in Oia and in excellent condition, traditional cave houses in a quiet village, with a great view from the balcony. Absolutely recommend this hotel to any type of traveller as it is just 10 minutes walk from Oia and away from the tourists. It was great to experience a very traditional location and beautiful cave house. Breakfast is repetitive and basic

kind host and good service. the room is very cool even during the mid noon. Nice environment. Breakfast is good. bathroom too small. And the location for the hotel is a bit far away from the town. it is not easy to find the hotel without other one's guide. no ocean view when living in the hotel.

we loved every minute of it, we couldn't have found a nicer place to stay in santorin. the room was beautiful, and we ended up spending a whole day on sofias terrace. fantastic breakfast with homemade jam. the village of finiaki is really close to oia, yet very calm with great views, too and an ancient centre to explore. nice little taverna with great food just next door. very much recommending this place!

We loved Heliophos ! The place is very pretty, in a small traditional village just 5 minutes walk to the center of Oia (the prettiest village in Santorini). We could choose our room on arrival. It was very cute, clean, with a kitchenette if we wanted to make breakfast and a terrace. Some rooms are cave-rooms, which is pretty authentic and nice. Decoration is lovely. The owner is super nice, very helpful all the time. She is very flexible with the timings, which is cool when you are on holidays. Breakfast is fabulous, with a lot of choice and everything is good and fresh. Best place to stay ! The place is hard to find. You have to take 2 buses from the port to get there. Shower was a little weird (no shower tub which means you put water a little everywhere).

The room and place were so beautiful. We love that at breakfast we came to the main table and ate together among guess so we had many new friends who we can share trip experience. Sofia, the owner, was very nice, flexible and helpful. The place is quite far but still in walking distance to Oia, the most beautiful area in Santorini. We wish we were foretold that we need to tell the bus to stop for us one village before Oia. This information should be showned in the website. Because we didn't know, we had to carry big bags/lugguages accross the villague which was quite far and the road was rocky. In addition, I hope hotel accept credit card because we didn't know so we didn't provide enough cash.

We had a lovely and spacious two floor traditional studio with terraces and a courtyard where guests read and ate breakfast. It's in a quiet area, Finikia, a little ways from the more touristy Oia. It was perfect for us. The owner is an informative and charming lady. Wish we had a hot plate in the kitchen.

Heliophos is situated in one of the traditional villages of Santorini (very near to Ia (Oia)). The hotel is easilly accessible (after it is pointed out to you), a short walking distance to car rental, and close to main routes. The hotel itself is a renovated traditonal greek "cave style" home. The rooms and the hotel possess a natural charm which cannot be described at all. Additionally, the owner, Sophia's, is a most gracious hostess, who opens both her hotel and her home up to travellors. Breakfasts are a feast - Sophia puts on quite a spread - homemade jams, fresh baked chocolate cake, breads, copious amounts of coffee, lovely greek yoghurt and honey, etc etc. Breakfast is served in the common area of the hotel with a relaxed setting and beautiful view and guests are encouraged to sit together and mingle. The room was not serviced every day - cant say if this was standard practice - but this was a non-issue considering the charm and everything else about the place - this was probably because the owner Sophia is not assisted by anyone or possibly because we stayed during the Easter holiday.

“This Hotel was perfect, right inside Thira, near steps to harbour and cable car. Near museums and shops plenty of eateries take away and taverna. Near to edge pathway for veiws. Owners were lovely picked us up and delivered to the ferry, they were so helpful. Views from 3rd floor top room were great well worth exta cost, but all rooms on 2nd floor had outside space and the courtyard downstairs was shaded by trees and delightful. All together and great stay I can recommend it!! Breakfast was good value too.” Helen, Prades Sur Vernaozbre |
