The hotel staff was nice and friendly. The location of the hotel is very good, as it is near to all most important cultural sights. The room was clean and the buffet breakfast acceptably good. The hotel is very near to the Solomou and Septembriou street crossing, which seems to be a daily gathering place for drug addicts and all kinds of "suspicious types". The hotel people cannot be blamed for that. They have done their best to have a nice and friendly "oasis" in that somewhat gloomy street. |

The staff were great. Very helpful with lots of good information. The breakfast was very good, more generous then many similar quality places. Free good wifi and use of a hotel computer. The location is very dodging. The warnings from other reviewers are completely true. However, the street the hotel is on is particularly bad for drug dealers and users. Once you get past that (and they are really not interested in tourists) then it is well located to get around the city. This is definitely NOT a place for young families or single travelers that don´t have some street smarts. |

Positive: two of three hotel colleagues are nice (the very old and the young) and helpful; really not faraway from the Metro station and centre. Negative: the environment is awful, prostitutes and drugs, however, not harmful; the Internet connection, hot water and even the electricity can be gone at any time and without any explainful reason. |

The staff was very nice and frendly. The neighbourhood was very bad. A lot of drug addicts, homless people, prostitutes. Definetly not a good area and definetly is not a good ideea to go in and out of the hotel after dark. |

One of the receptionists were poliglote (englis, french, spanish, dutch) and really polite. By the other hand, another one could not even communicate in english. Terrible neighborhood. |

Friendly staff and good value for money. Within walking distance of all the key areas. . A few of the people about on the streets after dark made us feel a bit uncomfortable. |

We were traveling to Athens with our 2 years old daughter. Staff was extremely friendly and helpful. No problem getting a baby cot in our double room which had a great balcony. The hotel is conveniently located 5 minutes walk north of Omonia metro station. The area is somewhat on the dodgy side but we did not feel unsafe at any time. |

The staff is very nice, very clean room, big bathroom. The are is pretty... dodgy. There was major drug dealing right across the street. Still, no problem with the "clients". The hotel staff try to make up for it being extra-nice. I would still recommend it. |

2 nice old men at the reception, one of them can speak french. 20-25 min walk from the Acropolis The Hotel is old and to enter a room there makes you quite depressed. Omonia is not the best location in Athens... Prostitutes and drunk guys all around. |

Hotel employees speak very little English and they do have a good knowledge of the area and tourist attractions. Don’t expect to give you expert recommendations about where to go! You need to have a very good plan of where you want to go. The hotel was very noisy both from outside and inside the hotel. it’s a very basic bed and breakfast. When I told the hotel staff that the Safe does not work he responded: if it does not work that means it does not work what can i do?! And he suggested me to hit it with my punch a few times and make it work! i did not bother however as i did not want to end up my with money stuck in a safe that cannot be opened. But i have to say that i did not experience any loss. |

Staff were extremely helpful; It was in close proximity to most major attractions; great value for money. The area doesn't seem as the safest. |

As it`s been mentioned before most negative part of Solomou hotel is area where it`s located otherwise staff of hotel was helpfull and room was ok! It was very easy to travel around Athens by using underground that was located very near to hotel! Reasonble prise! Shower can be improved, it`s too small and it`s almost always full of water around after using it! |

Once you are inside the hotel, you feel much different than only a step outside the hotel. The neighborhood is very shabby. This is an ok hotel in a bad area. We only spent one night on our return leg through Athens. Since we had seen most of what Athens has to offer on our first leg, we pretty much stayed in our room the whole time. Got takeout pizza from a nearby restaurant at night, skipped the breakfast and left at checkout time for the airport. |

The staff is very nice and helpful, people we can trust on. The hotel (inside) is quiet and calm. The breakfast is very reasonable. Free internet available. Not the hotel itself, but Solomou Street isn't a nice place. Very strange and suspicious people in the street ... but no problems at all. |

Not a bad place to stay - Clean, pleasant, not too far from the center of Athens. Had access to internet from a system on sight, but no wi-fi. Rate was good, breakfast was nice. Air conditioning barely kept the room cool was my only concern. |

Friendly, helpful staff. Close to the acropolis. 30 min away from Piraeus by metro. Breakfast. Well policed area but a fair amount of drug dealing and taking, even on big open squares such as Omonia, can be surprising at first. |

The old man who worked the night shift was really nice. Close to metro station and nice bakery. Also walking distance (30 mins) to major sites. As most people wrote, the hotel is in a bad area full of prostitutes, druggies, and weirdo's but you don't feel unsafe. When we checked in the young guy at reception looked like he'd just had his drug fix. Was really unimpressed by him. Hotel is old and dated. Only stay here if you can handle basic accommodation. |

Staff was excellent, the rooms were nice, the A/C worked well, the rooms and bathrooms were clean. Internet access was good too. The entire neighborhood, but especially the bar nextdoor with all the drug addicts and the passed out alcoholics 24/24!!! I'm European and very liberal about these things, but it was just too much. The neighborhood needs to be cleaned up, too many prostitutes, drug addicts and drunks! |
