Patitiri is the island's harbour and the first place you see when arriving at Alonissos. It is the capital and the centre of the island. Patitiri means wine-press and the village got its name from the fact that all wine-presses and storage places of Alonissos’ wine used to be in this area.

The sea waters of the Northern Sporades are amongst the clearest waters in the world, which makes virtually all of Alonissos a safe and satisfying island for swimming. In addition to Patitiri, other beaches are Roussoum, Votsi, Milia, Chrissi Milia, Kokkinokastro, Tzortzi-Gialos, Lefto-Gialos, Agios Dimitrios, Marpounta, Vithisma, Megalos Mourtias, and Mikros Mourtias.
