We booked Irini's Villas based on the view of caldera and the balconies shown in the description. The room we received did not meet our expectations whatsoever! We were in Room 9, which is up above the rest of the hotel. There isn't really a balcony, but an open-air entry way. The remaining view of the caldera was blocked by a set of power lines. The room itself was quite dark and dank. It is built into the cliff, so we were not expecting a light and airy space, but it smelled musty with a lingering scent of urine. There was no hot water in our shower, which can be best described as a dribble. After spending a long day in transit, all we wanted to do was have showers. There was no one available to speak to that night. The next morning, I spoke to the manager over the phone to describe our disappointment with the water and the room. She was incredibly rude, telling us too bad, we had pre-paid - she had our money and we'd have to take the room as it was. We were told the hot water might be fixed later that day. There was no attempt on her behalf to rectify the situation, or even offer us another room to shower in. Luckily, the staff on site felt bad about what had happened and were able to get us into a better room (with hot water and a much nicer view) at a neighbouring hotel, The Phenix - which was quite satisfactory. I would not recommend Irini's to anyone based on our experience with the manager - especially if you intend to pre-pay. We travelled to four islands during our 2.5 weeks in Greece, and this is the only negative experience we had (and the only negative review I've written).

Incredible view as many already commented. I can confirm it personally. If you are in a right room, you feel like staying on a cruise ship overlooking the caldera and blue sea. Thats only matter for this hotel if you are for the view. To get the view, you have to walk many steps to the hotel. I do not see its a problem. Room # 1-5 has excellent view. 6-10 except 8 are seperated from the main hotel on the top which are big in size but not as nice. Bus station just nearby to Oia (20 min) or Fira (5 min). A scenic walk path along the cliff leads you to Fira town center. We like the hotel airport pick up service and back to the new port. The staff is nice and hard worker after you get to know him. Kitchen has everything you need to cook. I have to say its good value for your money. Most hotels in the area have excellent view but this one has the best values for what you pay for. Supermarket around the corner. You can get fresh veggies and meats. The bed is not confortable. Furnitures is old and not appealing. Smell in bathroom. The towel is hard like a rock and dirty (Bring your own soft towel or buy one from the market). Wireless signal is almost non- exist unless you go to the reception area. All Greek tv channels (one English news channel from Chinese cctv). But, you are on an island. You do not need to watch tv. Overall, I still recommend this hotel and will come back if I am offered one of the room in the main hotel.

the room itself and the tarrace are good the location is good, but not that much good as imagined; tried with several emails contacting the hotel before the trip, but received no response at all, and finally got some help from booking.com; has been placed to another resort for the first night due to 'some problem with their triple room for that night' and then moved back the next day, INCONVENIENT for carrying luggage!!!

Location & view are amazing - highest point of the island, so we've enjoyed caldera view from every point - windows, private balcony, swimming-pool terrace. It's easy to get to Fira (7-10 minutes walk along beautiful places) & Oia (bus stop is 2 min away). room is cozy & nice with equiped kitchen & everything you need. Albert is really helpfull (Albert, thank you again for everything!!!). wi-fi works everywhere (but sometimes slowly). in the next building lives a very interesting local old-man - it's also a part of atmosphere there. i can recomend this place for sure 1 it was not easy to find. 2 place is perfect for taking pictures - all the people walking along main Imerovigli street (right behind my room) stop there, so sometimes it was hard to find some privacy 3. & my personal complain is a quantity of steps everywhere - if you are not fit it's a big challenge

A very good apartment: room, bathroom, small kitchen with everything you need to cook and be confortable. The view of the ocean is amazing and you have all you need to relax and spend the day just admiring the landscape. Need to improve the directions give to the guests to arrive from the port to the hotel. It's not easy to find the location (it doesn't mean that the location is bad).

The view was just breathtaking, really quiet and relaxing environment. We had last room down so noone passing through our balcony and we were right at the edge of the cliff! Room spacious and clean, really good room service. Kitchenette and fridge meant we could self cater, as Santorini is pricey that can save you money. Staff very helpfull and relaxed. Imerovigli definitely the right choice for us to stay, not nearly as touristic as oia and fira. Fira only 20-30 mins walk on a beautiful cliffside path. Sipping local wine on the balcony at nights over a moonlit caldera was our highlight! Quite a climb up and down, not a problem for us but do consider if not entirely fit or carrying plenty of luggage. Smell of septic tank, dont know if its a permanent feature or just happened to be when we were there. We coped fine with some air freshener and aromatic candles and it wasnt constant.

Spectacular view from the hotel and its surrounding are .. .. but then , any hotels around the area got the same view of the cliffs and sea .. so it's really nothing particularly provided by the Irinis . It's not easy to locate the hotel , even taxi only took me to the top of the cliff there, and there is not signs or whatsoever to guide you after that. I was lucky enough to meet a lady, who just happened had seen the hotel before so she showed me the way. With my suitcase and one hand carry bag , its no joke at all with the walk on those steps on the cliff and the Irinis provides no assistance at all ,only when you finally get there and they will take care if it to your room. It's sort of family- run hotel so it should be more flexible but this is not the case here. I was 15 mins up late in the morning and asked for breakfast but then they said no .. well fair enough . but the reason he didn't want to do it because he prefer to play with his computer game ( I heard the noise from it) in fact I tried to call from my room before that, following the instruction of the phone card says (#11) in my room but in vain. I told the staff about it and he said I was wrong,he said "everyone knows it should be 0" huh??(i just checked in yesterday afternoon so I was not that everybody, sir) I told him that's not what the sign says . but he refused to listen.it mentioned in the site that there is internet wi-fi even in the room but thats' not true .. you have to go up outside the "reception" there is a small table just for one person to use or up on the roof top. There wont be any service or any staffs around the hotel after 8 am .. as everyone will be gone . I wonder what happen if I need assistance for .. let's say emergency , or medical ?? even the day I need to check out in the night time .. he told me just leave the key inside my room ... my conclusion ; its not a very user friendly hotel , not helpful and overly charged and over rated .

First of all, the great views! It is a great place to enjoy your breakfast. Secondly, the staff, who was really helpful. Everyday they brought us a fresh breakfast and everyday the room was cleaned. Therefore we don´t understand the negative reviews, apparently the old staff has been replaced... Since the hotel lies on the edge of the caldera, you have to take a lot of steps, but that´s everywhere in Santorini.

“Very friendly owner & included (free) airport transfers. 'Katerina' also insisted on driving me to the wedding I was attending (again as a favor & free of charge). The villa was a small, homely place, very well situated close to the center of Fira. A great place to stay for the price.” Christopher, Southampton |
