Htel standard and services are on a very high level, however considering price and marketing materials expectiations are also on a very high level, so there are areas to be improved.
Most probably hotel guest are mainly TUI guest. It looks like mainly older people. During breakfast there was an impression that restaurant wants only to "process" as many customers as possible. Everything was a little nervous and "in hurry".
I'm wondering why coffe, hot water and fresh orange juice is not offered in the buffet, but is delivered to each table separately? It would probably reduce waiters workload.
I was in a lot of big hotels, so it is not a matter of number of rooms and size of restaurant. It may be definitely improved so there is more calm, silence and "personal" treatment.
I also had an impression that staff doesn't seem to be "personaly involved". It may be difficult with so many guests during peak season, however other hotels are able to do this. In this hotel it looks like "stay with us, take quick breakfast, but it is all we can offer you.
Pool is next to the restaurant, so it is not comfortable (and most probably not possible) to use it during breakfast time (7:30-10) or dinner (after 6pm).
Anyway, it seems to be the best location in Rethymnon, with nice breakfast, free beach towels, sunbeds, parking. I'm reviewing this hotel considering it's price and expectations, and this expectation is on a very high level. It is worth of the price, but there are still areas to be improved.
One more thing - brochure in the hotel is saying that there are free board games at the reception desk. reception desk is saying that we can ask in the pool bar. Person in the pool bar is saying that there are no games. It is just sample, but showing the issue which can and should be easily improved, so hotel offers perfect quality.
I spent there 3 days. Hotel location is perfect. It is almost on the beach - 50 metres from the sea (there is a road with small traffic between hotel an beach, but it is the same for all hotels in Rethymno). There are shops, restaurants. City center is about 600 meters from the hotel, so it is very close, but enough to avoid nightlife and noise. Rooms are nice, however a little small. Bathroom is small.
There is small swimming pool (about 10 meters and 1,8 m deep). It is enoug to spend there a few hours (there are only 6 sun beds next to the pool, and only 2 with sun access during the day. It was usually free. The only disadvantage is, that pool is next to the restaurant, so it is not comfortable (and most probably not possible) to use it during breakfast time (7:30-10) or dinner (after 6pm).
There is also another indoor swimming pool, but it is extremely small (about 4x4m) - most prpbably only for sauna guests.
Towels for swimming pool are free. Also towels for beach and sun beds/sun umbrellas are free for hotel guests. Beach is perfect, with nice sand and clean water. (blue flag programme).
Gym is small. There are 4 devices - enough for daily excersises. There was also sauna, but I'm not sure if anyone use it. It was off, and I didn't ask personel for it.
Hotel has it's parking space, so there was no problem to leave a car.
Rooms with side-sea view seems to be better, that with sea view, because are not on the main street (traffic is minimal, so it is not an issue).
I would recommend this hotel for short stay (up to 7 days).
