Hotel Makedonia is just 110 yards from the gates of Mount Athos and 55 yards from the nearest beach. Guests enjoy traditional breakfast and a panoramic terrace with view of the sea.

Hotel Makedonia’s spacious rooms offer a balcony, some with sea view, central heating, air-conditioning and TV.

Traditional breakfast, including yogurt with local biological honey is served at the hotel’s panoramic terrace. At the reception lounge there is a cafe with satellite TV.

Guests can rent a boat and explore the surrounding islets and secluded beaches, or rent a car and visit Kassandra and Sithonia.

At the end of the Mount Athos peninsula ,74.5 miles from Thessaloniki airport, lies Ouranoupolis, the Gate of Mount Athos. This is a picturesque place which keeps its traditional Greek style, moving in slow paces and peace, even in rush hours.

The village seems to be a serene portrait which welcomes the pilgrims and prepares them for their spiritual journey to Mount Athos. In Greek “Ouranoupolis” means the city of heaven. Its visitors are welcomed by the Tower of Andronikos, the “alert protector” of the city for centuries, built in 1344 by the monastery Vatopediou as protection from the pirates. In front of the tower lies the port, the gate of Mount Athos, where ferry boats travel to the monasteries or cruise around the peninsula.

Très bien situé pour préparer son départ au Mont Athos et lors du retour. Facilité de laisser ses bagages pendant le séjour au Mont Athos. Stélios le patron est toujours prêt à rendre service. Situé dans une rue calme mais proche des restaurants, de la plage, du bureau des pèlerins pour le Mont Athos et du quai d'embarquement pour l'Athos. Très bon rapport qualité-prix. Der Besitzer ist sehr wortkarg. Hier wird kein Deutsch gesprochen (ist aber nicht unbedingt ein Minuspunkt). Tuyauterie extrèmement bruyante : on entend chacun prendre sa douche et pour comble, nous avons eu un début de fuite...vite réparée, heureusement !
