Mythos is a lovely boutique hotel in great location for exploring the old town. Our superior room was comfortable with plenty of space. Staff were helpful in providing information on the surrounding area and addressing our initial issues with accessing wifi. For those expecting internet, we found that the signal was not available in all rooms which was disappointing when it was a factor in making our hotel selection.

The garden, the flowers, the beautiful layout of the building and rooms. The central location of the hotel close to the old city. The pool wasn't clean, but late season and certainly not used. Local parking not possible, but free parking in walking distance.

Very helpful and friendly staff, particularly Elleni who went out of her way o be helpful. On one day there was no hot water between 4.00pm and 7.0pm and for the first hour no one on-site to whom to report it. I id suggest that there should be a modest adjustment to thr bill but this was ignored.

Right in the Venetian Old town, the hotel has a very pretty courtyard and nearby streets are full of interesting shops and excellent choice of dining. The suite we had was split over two floors with lots of space. If the bed was a little softer it would have been perfect. The breakfast was simple, greek style with different choices each day including freshly baked cakes. Finding the hotel at night was difficult if you are coming by car. I recommend talking to the hotel about the nearby parking before you arrive. In saying that, the staff were excellent, and even ran out into the main square to meet us in the car. For me the bed was just a little too firm, I was looking forward to my memory foam mattress after 4 nights, but overall we still really enjoyed our stay. The beach is lovely and sandy, but very crowded, we preferred the beaches further up the coast in the little bays.

The Mythos Hotel is a quiet sanctuary in the midst of the very lively historic district of Rethymnon, Crete. We were there at the height of the summer tourist season, but once we were locked securely behind the heavy front door we had the quiet atmosphere of a country hotel. We were lucky enough to have a ground floor room with its own terrace and a semi- private courtyard filled with pots of flowering plants. We were welcomed with a bottle of the local white wine and the staff was consistently kind, offering good suggestions of local restaurants and lovely beaches we could visit after visiting the great archeological sites of Crete. The day we left to fly back to the U.S. we had to leave very early, before the hotel offered breakfast, and the night manager set us up with a complete breakfast on a tray so we wouldn't go hungry. The hotel is in the pedestrian heart of the old town of Rethymnon, so you must be prepared to park your car outside the walls and transport your bags to the hotel yourself.

Mythos is a gem of a hotel. A charmingly renovated Venetian building with a central courtyard ideal for sitting out in the evening. Great location in the old town in a quiet cul-de-sac but an easy walk to restaurants, shops, bus station and the beach. Very clean and comfortable and the staff were welcoming, friendly and very helpful. Good breakfast of local produce. We loved it and extended our stay from five nights to ten. Excellent value for money too.

What a fabulous job the owners have done here! Look at the photo album of what the buildings were before the beautiful restoration that has taken place. Accomodation is excellent. Our own apartment was beautifully furnished with sitting room kitchenette and bedroom and bathroom on a upper floor, all overlooking the gorgeous courtyard. Friendly, a decent breakfast and excellent position for the town and harbour
