Plaka Hotel  

I stayed in this hotel late March of 2011. Comfortable boutique hotel located centrally with an attentive staff. I would recommend this hotel to anyone who isn't planning to spend a lot of time at the hotel. This is not a destination hotel, but it an excellent 4 Star hotel with an outstanding breakfast. Incidentally, if central Athens is your destination you couldn't get more central. The room and bed and pillows were comfortable. The cab ride was 35 Euros to the Plaka Hotel, and 40 Euros -- for some reason -- to the airport from the hotel.

There is only one elevator in this 6 story hotel. They cannot get a building permit for a second elevator although they seem to have plenty of room for another one. The sink in my room drained slowly. The bathtub was tiny.

The location was perfect. The breakfast was excellent. We would definitely stay there again.

This hotel is in Plaka and ideally located for that area with all attractions in walking distance for all the family. It is very clean and good value for money. The staff are pleasant and willing to help. Great views from the roof terrace.

Thin walls. Easy to hear your neighbours.

Well located for Acropolis and Ancient Agora area. Central to shops in the 'tourist area'. Plenty of eateries nearby. Near to all transports. Hotel rooms were clean and warm (Winter stay) and the shower was hot. Good buffet breakfast. Rooms newly appointed and nicely decorated.

WiFi should be free to rooms, but this hotel charges 2 Euro for an hour. However the fist 25 minutes of your stay are free.

Hotel recently renovated: everything is new and shining. Nice roof terrace with chairs, tables, sofas and a gorgeous view of Acropolis (open in winter). Very client oriented. In the lobby they have addresses, opening hours and admission fees to all important museums, timetables for buses and metro to airport and some tourist locations, free maps, travel guides and whatever else. Very good breakfast, free coffee, tea and cookies during the day and a small bottle of wine in the room as a compliment. Compared to other 3-star Athens hotels this one could be 3.5 stars or even more. Unless you need 24/7 internet access, Plaka is a great choice.

Double bed is actually two single beds put together; triple room is actually double with an extra bed. You get 25 minutes free internet upon arrival, but you must use on the first day, otherwise it expires. Later you can buy access for 2 euro/hour if you use wi-fi or 4 euro/hour for the desktop+printer downstairs. This is fair enough and not really expensive (though a bit confusing), but hey, the year is 2012. Paid wi-fi in a good hotel is like, I don't know... paying for a shower or a door lock. :)

Convenient location to/from the Metro station, and the nite life of the city. Room simple but very clean. Included breakfast was very good. The views from the roof were superb. Would stay there again.

Room was really nice and the Acropolis was the first thing I saw when I looked out of my room..AMAZING. I stayed here last year so this was my 2nd time . Breakfast had plenty of options and tasted ok, the yoghurt and honey was amazing :) Nice touch of a small bottle of wine on last night of stay

Maybe just a small issue with one of the guys on reception , cant pin point it but felt he was about to roll his eyes when I approached, even though I was only after a wifi code lol but other than that it was all good

Excellent location in Plaka, lots of bars and good places to eat within 5 minutes walk. Roof top terrace has stunning view of the Acropolis and mid Athens. Rooms clean, bathroom and great shower and bed was very comfy. Walking distance to major monuments in best area of Athens. Not too expensive, excellent stay and hope to return one day.

As the husband of a disabled lady the hotel is not perfect for wheelchairs. The lift is small and there are steps to the dining room and roof top terrace so it not suitable for wheelchair user.

There were 12 of us who stayed for 4 nights at the end of January 2012 at the hotel to celebrate my 50th birthday. It was perfect for our stay, the location was very central for everything we needed. The little free extra touches were a lovely addition (hot drinks and biscuits in the afternoon, small bottle of wine in our room). The rooms were lovely with very comfortable beds and the power shower in the bathroom was excellent. The location was good with the main tourist attractions at Syntagma Square, Urmou - the pedestrianised shopping street, the Acropolis & it's Museum etc all easily accessable on foot or by metro. The staff were helpful and nothing was too much trouble. The view from the roof terrace is fabulous although the bar up there is not open during the winter. All of our party had a wonderful stay and we are already planning to return again hopefully in the coming months.

The location was amazing. In the middle of the Plaka disctrict, easy walking to anything you want in Athens. Staff was helpful and nice. Rooms were clean. Only issue was a little flooding from the shower.

It's an amazing 3 stars hotel, very nice staff; they greet you with cookies on the reception even at the bar you can have free coffee with biscuits. Excellent location 3 minutes walking to Monstraki Sq 1 min to Ermou St for shopping really great value! Best of all is the roof garden at the roof with a breathtaking view of the Acropolis, very charming at night! Sure I'll choose again the Plaka Hotel on my any visit to Athens

Good staff very helpful. Unfortunately I was not well at the time and they were very caring. Good location.

Not very quiet at night but it was in the heart of the city.Noise from local cafes etc

the central heating was on all the time making the room too warm
