The Melia has a wonderful rooftop pool and bar, with great views to the Acropolis. The rooms are modern and comfortable and very clean. The hotel staff were very helpful giving us great restaurant suggestions and even booked our ferry tickets. Free wifi. Will be staying here again on out return through at the end of our trip. The hotel is easily walkable to the plaka and Acopolis, which is great. I am just glad I was with my boyfriend as some of the streets surrounding are a bit rough. We even saw some people injecting heroine only a block from the hotel. Keep to yourself and they keep to themselves but just be aware.

It ticks a lot of boxes. Omonia is certainly not a safe area so one should be on their guard, but I cannot fault the hotel. I am familiar and have stayed at the melia/president on several ocassions. The area at the moment is not suitable for a family but for me the location is perfect. Though I had a minor issue with my booking, upon arrival everything was perfect.

Room comfort I would seriously advise against anyone travelling to this hotel in the current climate. We had to cross streets full of very threatening men and gangs of Eastern European youths - drug use is openly happening on the streets here. All of the shops close as soon as the sun goes down . Frightening, very frightening and not safe area of athens.

The friendliness of the staff as well as the overall quality of stay over there. It's truly a gem in down-town Athens, especially in Omonoia, where the quality of life has degraded the past few years.

We loved Melia Athens so much that we got the membership! From now, every time we will come back to our beloved Athens,we will stay in Melia. The hotel employees were all very polite and friendly, breakfast was ok-we loved the yoghurt and the coffee-the spa was great, our room was simply amazing! We had the Deluxe Room with the whirlpool bathtub, perfect for a romantic yet relaxing night after walking around the Greek Capital. The position of the hotel is central, next to the Omonoia Underground station and several bus stations. Havig read previous comments,we were aware of possible danger but come on! We actually walked "home" every night and nothing happened.Yes,many things changed in Athens but it's not as bad as in other metropolises in Europe. The tendency for extra charges made room service even more expensive that it actually was. The same with the internet access. There are cafes opposite to the hotel with free wlan access, and the coffee is great too! :) 1 soap,1 shampoo in a room for 2.We had our own but if you have to ask for extra you don't feel exactly like home, right?

Great stay with my wife and my 8 month old. The staff was superb, especially when I needed to contact an emergency doctor due to an unexpected illness that my baby developed. The doctor came promptly and his visit was followed up by Maria, a very competent manager, to check on us and reassure us that we could count on them for any issues. In addition to the staff, the location is great as it's a stone's throw from Omania Metro which will connect you to the many touristy areas in Athens. Although, I read about the area being in a rough neighborhood with drug activity and scary individuals, all I saw was some lost souls that need help badly. Anyway, traveling throughout Europe, I came away convinced that the Melia is certainly a steal, at least in wintertime.

Good geographical location only 20mins walk takes you to many different attractions. Staff all seemed very friendly and helpful. Hotel was very clean and relaxed. The roof top bar only seems to open during summer months which is a pity as would be good for views in winter as well. Although not sure how busy it would be as hotel did seem quite quiet -(to be expected in December !)

Very good location, 5 min walking from Omonia Metro station, don't need to pass the dangerous streets. Shower facility is great with Sauna function. The bed is very comfortable! The famous terrace is closed during winter. Internet in room is not free, wifi in lobby is free, but slow and have to sit in the bar, which you are supposed by drinks there to use the wifi.

Good location, roof pool area (it was close for season but fb manager opened the roof for us to take few pictures), good dinner, good breakfast, really friendly personnel Neighbourhood is not good for evenning/night walk alone - lots of young dopes, mornings are fine. Even though I put Dont disturb sign on the door I got my room cleaned and did not find the sign ever again. Breakfast is kind of expensive - 18 eur

The localization, the view and the decoration. Very good taste . They should review their menu food, very bad quality of food. Specially the fish dish. Very expensive for a bad standard quality food. The other thing was my jacuzzi was with black marks around unacceptable for a 4 star hotel.

We stayed in room number 115. The weight instrument was not available. When asked in the reception, during discussion in the reception, Mr. Dimitris seemed to be irritated to give a satisfactory response.

It was a haven in the centre of a crazy city. We loved the rooftop pool and also had a nice meal there in the evening with amazing views of the Parthenon and Lycabettus Hill. We stayed in a deluxe room which was very comfortable and the bathroom with jacuzzi bath was lovely. The staff were helpful but one or two of them lacked the warmth and friendliness that can make all the difference to your perception of service. Perhaps due to the economic state of the country, we noticed a huge number of drug addicts and homeless people on the streets. It wasn't pleasant at all. We were in Athens only 4 months prior to this visit and it has got so much worse. The latter point, of couse, is not the Hotel's fault but visitors should be aware.

“Excellent and polite staff, including housekeeper and cleaning lady, porter very very helpful, great idea the private parking, considering the location, very close to the centre, but at the same time, no traffic or noise or worse...if you know athens, you understand! The food in the hotel restaurant, is lovely well cooked and with a good presentation. Lokks like the hotel has a great manager! ” Rita, Saravalli |
