A very good hotel, with a lovely swimming pool and jacuzzi on the roof with view to the acropolis. Good gym and sauna with views to the acropolis as well. Great relation quality-price. Good breakfast, excelent variety. To go back and recommend to friends.

The location: the surronding streets are not trusty at night. But it's located 5min walking from the Archeological Museum and 15min walking from Monastiraki / Syntagma Square.

The bright pleasant and relaxing decoration - spotlights throughout the hotel, pleasant and helpful hotel staff. Peaceful warm atmosphere excellent location for transport. Breakfast is very good.

Although there was a pleasant piano bar sitting area we were disappointed there was not a pianist available to be playing the piano in the evenings as is available in all other hotels we have visited. It is the responsibility of the hotel to make available a pianist for piano bar evenings during the stay of hotel guests. This adds to the warm atmosphere to the hotel and this would have encouraged us to buy drinks and sit in the piano bar area listening to the piano in the evenings. Therefore this is a little misleading to guests when advertised in the Melia Hotel web page "Piano bar" normally indicates there is a pianist playing the piano in the piano bar - but there was no piano player on any of the evenings we were at the hotel. The quality of filter coffee available in the breakfast area could be improved by using a better quality choice of fresh coffee.

The friendliness of staff

Location, although always felt safe, it's not located in a particularly nice part of town.

The friendliness of the staff as well as the overall quality of stay over there. It's truly a gem in down-town Athens, especially in Omonoia, where the quality of life has degraded the past few years.

Great stay with my wife and my 8 month old. The staff was superb, especially when I needed to contact an emergency doctor due to an unexpected illness that my baby developed. The doctor came promptly and his visit was followed up by Maria, a very competent manager, to check on us and reassure us that we could count on them for any issues. In addition to the staff, the location is great as it's a stone's throw from Omania Metro which will connect you to the many touristy areas in Athens. Although, I read about the area being in a rough neighborhood with drug activity and scary individuals, all I saw was some lost souls that need help badly. Anyway, traveling throughout Europe, I came away convinced that the Melia is certainly a steal, at least in wintertime.

Nice hotel for nice price in the centre of athens, near metro. Spa finish and turkisch sauna very nice and for free.

Room comfort

I would seriously advise against anyone travelling to this hotel in the current climate. We had to cross streets full of very threatening men and gangs of Eastern European youths - drug use is openly happening on the streets here. All of the shops close as soon as the sun goes down . Frightening, very frightening and not safe area of athens.
