Alexia has created something very special here. Spotlessly clean, comfortable and so beautifully presented. Five minutes walk from the bus station if you are not driving like me. I absolutely loved it. Paid the few euros extra for breakfast well worth it. Also it may have been the time of year but it was ridiculously cheap, for how lovely it was. The wifi is not the greatest - but not suprising when the walls are about three foot thick. Anyway don't sit in your room Googling, get out and experience the fabulous old town of Rethymon which is on your doorstep
Above all, the friendly and helpful attitude of Alexia. The flat has plenty of room for two people, is spotlessly clean and is stylishly decorated. Well worth having breakfast - a wonderful home-made buffet spread, with everything you could possibly want.
We loved everything in the hotel itself. Its situation means you're unlikely to be able to park very close to it, though there is a large car-park a couple of blocks away. If you get the front room with the view over the beautiful square, you need to be prepared for declamatory conversations in the café opposite from 7.30am until 1am. This is not a problem provided you keep the windows shut.
Perfect location very close to the old town, with public parking outside. Beautiful, small hotel with extremely nice and friendly owner (thank you Alexia!). The best breakfast I ever had in Greece. Nice garden where you can have a coffee and take a rest. Clean rooms. Everything was perfect. You can feel in this hotel like at your own home. If you plan to visit Rethimnon, you must chose this hotel! We fully recommend.
Our room and the entire hotel are just charming. Our hostess was very helpful and spoke perfect English. She recommended dining at the "Raki Ba raki" and it was really exceptionally good. We only stayed one night in the hotel and we would be happy to return. Also, we parked free in the street just outside.
Everything about the place was terrific. The room was spacious & immaculate...so artistically presented. Alexi, the owner, was kindness itself. Nothing was too much trouble. The additional breakfast was mind-blowing. Sohora will be our first port-of-call when we are next in Rethymno. Thanks for a most delightful stay.
Nothing negative to say
Amazing room amazing breakfast!
Very friendly helpful hosts nothing was to hard. Lovely room with a great balcony, everything was very clean and the breakfasts were yummy. We had a great stay.
Thank you Alexia and your mother for a very pleasant stay in the top floor apartment. We have tried a great number of hotels in Greece and Sohora is by far the best ever. We stayed for 9 days in September 2014 and will definitely return to this lovely decorated hotel.
Location, proximity to the old town. Old house nicely renovated. Nice and modern room.
There was no private parking, but very easy to find a parking place on the square in front of the hotel.
We had the upstairs apartment with a large terrace and view of the fortress. Large bed, spacious living room. Location was short walk to anything, yet not in the most dense tourist area. Bedroom was to the back and quiet. The breakfast was the best, and the cheapest, we had in Crete. Different homemade dishes everyday! We regretted eating out one morning.
If one were to sleep in the living room area, there could be noise issues - from a popular restaurant across the street and in general from motorcycles/scooters in the night.
Alexia runs this hotel with her mum producing lovely breakfasts, including home made jams, cakes and other lovely Greek treats. It's a very pretty setting with individually-styled rooms and delightful courtyard garden to sit in. It's spotlessly clean and in one of the best locations in the town.
Lovely owner who went out of her way to help. Suggestions for restaurants, mailing postcards, directions, etc. Fantastic breakfast each day with fresh oj. Beautifully decorated, fascinating old family photos, adorable dog and cat, charming garden. Absolutely lovely and very well priced. One of the nicest places I have stayed.
Our window looked over a square where local men met for drinks and conversation. I wear ear plugs so no problem, and besides, I enjoyed knowing it was a real neighbourhood.
Alexandria was very helpful, great location in old town. The apartment Was beautiful!
Only downside was the shower which was terrible! But a minor inconvenience.
The decoration is very nice if you apreciate the vintage objects (like we did). The old objects were used and re-invented in order to decorate the room with a lot of taste.
In the living room was too much noise from the street (tavernas) to sleep.
the very small bed for the third person.
Everything is great. Great location! Great hotel! Owner recommended a very good resto. Fab resto! Got updated too :) although the shower is a bit small. I think the shower curtains need tobe put a bit farther. There is a bakery also nearby. Cake with cheese was the best!
Could walk to all attractions within the OldTown with ease.
The mattress and pillows were typically. Greek Very Hard!
Furniture, staff, atmosphere, everything else
Location, cleanness, great hospitality, amazing breakfast, perfect service
This is a small 4 room hotel which is run by the owners, who were very welcoming, helpful and pleasant. Location was in the old town, just on the edge so parking was easy and it was within walking distance of all the restaurants in the old town and by the sea. The room was great with a sitting room and balcony and suitable for 2 adults and 2 young children (10,12).
ok everything, and also two delicious pets inside and a lot of aromatic herbs and flowers
The owner is lovely - friendly and helpful, and you could tell she had put a lot of effort into styling the hotel. Breakfast was delicious!
Superb balcony Calm and quiet Super decoration, a lot of taste Great, not expensive homemade breakfast Guest oriented personnel
Very good location in Rethymno center. Spacious, clean and beautifully decorated rooms. The owners Alexia & her mother are very kind, helpful, welcoming & pleasant ! We felt like home. For sure, we would like to stay @ Sohora next time we will visit Rethymno
Very warm welcoming place, Helpful and welcoming staff, Beautifully and tastefully furnished with old and recycled/restaured furniture, Very nice breakfast, Will come back for sure and for longer time surely... :)
The shower plate could be a little bigger and the shower curtain a little longer as the floor got all wet when we showered, but don't let this put you off, just one (and only) last detail the hotel can improve... :)
