I liked the location ,and the nice view from the restaurant. The price was good as well. It was clean and breakfast was good.
The wifi connection in my bedroom was poor and water wasn, very hot. The tv was old an too far away
Staff are friendly, hotel is friendly
Breakfast, and no waist bins in hotel
Well located close to the bus station
The Wifi signal was far from good, only in the lobby you could have signal
The breakfast selection was very poor- had too many cakes- no pastries. No fresh fruit - only had tinned fruit. The selection of meats and cheese was again very limited.
The location was good. It was easy to reach the hotel from the port. The bus stop is only five mins away by walking.
The wasnt wifi in the rooms. You could connect only in the common areas of the hotel. (Lobby pool area) There were no umbrellas by the pool and the sunbeds were tied so we could not even move them to the shade. Rooms are not as spacious as they seem at the web site. They should upload more realistic photos. I wouldn't have done the booking if i had seen the real photos.
Friendly, helpful staff. Excellent pool and a nice outdoor area for relaxing and eating breakfast. Breakfast was ok, though choice rather limited. Room was comfortable and clean.
Staff and the Owner was very friendly and helpful Great pool Close to the Port Close to a bus stop Good wifi
Not near the main tourist attractions by actually quite centrally located to reach all the main areas
We stayed in this nice family run hotel for 11 nights. The owner Mr. Lignos looks after the hotel for over 20 years very well. The hotel is situated in the middle of the main road between Perissa/Perivolos and Fira. The hotel has a lovely pool area, the rather small rooms (our room was in the oldest part of the hotel right next to the reception) were kept spotlessly clean! At the end of our stay Mr. Lignos offered us a free transfer to the airport which was a very nice touch. 90% of the horel guests were french. The hotel Star is surrounded by 3 bus stops on the local bus routes Perissa-Fira and Acrotiri-Fira, each direction to the end station takes 15 minutes and costs 1,60 eur/ person. The local non- express buses run once an hour, the express buses every 20 minutes, however they stop at the bus stops in Megalochori only if they are empty. For the bus schedule ask at the hotel. You can also hire a car through the hotel for 35 eur/ day. Perivolos became our favorite beach and we visited the part of the beach in front of the small beach restaurant Terra Nera. You can use their sun beds and umbrellas free of charge if you order something from the restaurant E.G. beer, limonade during the day. We used to have a lunch over there always when we spent our day on the beach, they make lovely (greek) salads, also the service was great! In the village Megalochori you can also find 5-6 good restaurants. We recommend the trips to Fira, Oia, Pyrgos, Vlichada, Acrotiri, the light house at the very end of the west part of Santorini (we wolked from Acrotiri, it was a lovely half day trip, with small shops with refreshments every 20 minutes and breath taking views).
The breakfast was the biggest let down of this hotel. No one vegetable, no one fruit, 2 nondrinkable juices. However, if you stay in this hotel only for couple of nights this might not be a big issue for you! The internet (free of charge) was not working in the rooms, only outside around of the pool area and in the breakfast room. The shower unit in our bath room (without window!) was extrem small. My wife (1,7m and 54 kg) had been "fighting" every morning there, I prefered to shower at the beach (1,86m and 95kg) on every accasion, because only one of my legs could fit in the shower. The pool area was really lovely but there were only sunbeds without sunumbrellas, so you could stay over there only for couple of hours. We would recommend this hotel only if you don't mind the above mentioned negatives.
Very friendly staff, always on hand to help you.
We stayed in this hotel for 3 nights. The rooms are very clean and the staff is friendly. Nice swimmingpool. Good breakfast. You can walk to Megalochori, it's a nice little village. Rent a car if you want to visit the island.
Too old bed and blanket.
Very helpful staff. Incredible sunset across the road. Bus stop 100 meters up the road. Village had excellent restaurants. Fira was 15 minute bus ride and had lots of shops. Piressa 10 minutes and lots of restaurants and 7km of beech.
Great value budget accommodation. Nice pool and walking distance to local cafes/restaurants. Bus trip to Fira and beautiful Perissa Beach. Angelo was very accommodating and provided a free transfer to the port.
We've just got back from a weekend in Santorini and had a brilliant time! The staff were really friendly and helpful, everything was "no problem". The hotel is just across the road from the caldera where the view of the sunset is breathtaking, definitely the best view I've ever seen. The pool area was lovely, with a view to the sea. We were really lucky and had the whole pool to ourselves all weekend. Megalochori is a bit quieter than perissa or Fira and doesn't have all the bars, but there are places to eat nearby and we went wine tasting one afternoon at a winery just round the corner. You can get pretty much anywhere in about 10 minutes on the bus which stops just up the road. We were only there a day and a half and managed to cover most of the island. Overall we had an amazing time and I'd definitely recommend the hotel!
Lovely family running this place, they made us feel very welcome. Huge room with great atmosphere, cleaned every day.
