A short walk from the Acropolis, 5-star Royal Olympic Hotel is centrally located by the Temple of Olympion Zeus. The luxurious rooms overlook Zeus’s Temple, or the swimming pool garden.
Score from 2072 reviews Very good
Centrally located in Syntagma Square in Athens, the Amalia Hotel is right across from the National Gardens. It features comfortable rooms with satellite and pay-per-view TV, and Wi-Fi internet access....
Score from 1932 reviews Excellent
Hotel Amazon is in a great location in the heart of Athens, within walking distance of the major archaeological sites and Syntagma Metro Station.
Score from 1194 reviews Very good
With a great location in the center of Plaka, facing the Acropolis, this 5-star hotel offers personalized service, a beautiful rooftop pool and well-furnished rooms with a buffet breakfast included.

All was ok
Great location and fabulous views from the roof garden.
no wifi in room
staff were very helpful and friendly, restaurant was well managed and chef's food was excellent.
traffic noise kept me awake
Facilities, staff, location, breakfast all surpassed expectations. Loved the view from room balcony and roof restaurant where breakfast served.
Front room overlooking Temple of Zeus on a busy, noisy road. Room a little warm and could not adjust temperature.
The view from the restaurant
hands down the best service I have received from a hotel! Everyone was friendly, attentive, and went the extra mile. The front desk was prompt and very helpful. Our room was kept imaccumately clean. Also, the breakfast was delicious , and service was excellent. I'm addition to the service, the location was great! It is in a very clean and safe area just across the street from the Temple of Zeus. All the main sites were minutes away by walk or metro right behind the hotel. Also, there were many great restaurants nearby.
we were not there longer. We enjoyed all 3 days of our stay. It went by so quickly. Next time we will return to the Athens Gate hotel for longer.
The staff were friendly, polite and professional. The view from the room was superb.
The size of the room was smaller than expected. No free wifi in room. This was a major negative score. Dining room was quite cramped when busy at breakfast.
Great staff and situation
The room was quite small and a little bit noisy; but confortable enough to spend a few days.
Welcoming staff Clean room Nice breakfast Great view from restaurant
Noisy night club or private party on Saturday night / Sunday morning even though I requested a quiet room. Some road noise.
Location is great! Place is lovely and right opposite the hotel is a great Indian resturant called Indian Cafe. That Indian restaurant is simply superb along with this nice and cozy hotel.
no wi- fi availability without purchasing a plan, not good enough in these progressive times, it is not the cost rather than the inconvenience of having to go down to the lobby or up to the rooftop, Athens Gate needs to step up this service in todays times.
The view from the room and the Terrace was fantastic. Profesional and friendly personal
Rooms facing the main road have a great view, but the windows are not that great and do not stop the noise.
The Athens Gate hotel is located in a prime location in the city. The location allows walking to the Temple of Zeus, the Acropolis, Parliament, Plaka, as well as stops on both sides of the street for the Hop On/Hop Off bus to go to other locations. Staff was very helpful.
There was a charge for Wifi in the room. There is free Wifi in the lobby, but not in the individual hotel rooms -even in the higher cost rooms.
The service, politeness of the staff & the location of the hotel.
The comfort of the bed.
Location of the hotel was perfect to get to all the sites + restaurants in the evening and also close to the underground station. Excellent roof top bar for evening drinks and then for breakfast. Look no further if you are planning a weekend in Athens!
Did not stay long enough
Evening staff were excellent, Christopher was very helpful, location was good, breakfast was a good selection of food.
Some of the staff were a little rude particularly young thin waiter in breakfast room. Doorman with beard a little rude
My husband's favorite hotel in Europe! Amazing breakfast buffet with great waitstaff Comfortable, quiet room with great views! Great facilities! Professional reception and concierge staff! Wonderful location!!
The hotel was such a positive experience, especially considering it's price. Cosy room, good breakfast in the roof restaurant with stunning views all around, location could not be more central! We had a cheaper room option with a window looking inside the hotel building itself but we didn't consider it as disadvantage, as no street traffic noise at all was to hear. And the staff guys were even pleasant enough to open the bar in the middle of the night and give us a bottle of champagne, we really needed in connection with the totally unexpected victory of our soccer team! Next time in Athens, we surely stay here again!
Wi Fi in the room was not included in price and you had to pay extra for it - but it's speed was excellent, as everything else in this hotel.
Location, free upgrade offered, great view from the rooftop restaurant
The room we were originally offered (interior budget room or something along like it) had a peculiar smell and terrible view of an internal shaft. Since the hotel was not fully occupied, we were immediately offered upon request. The restaurant is somewhat pricey at dinner times.
Staff, comfort, view from rooftop, everything is at a walking distance
Views from roof garden restaurant are spectacular and hotel is only a short walk from Acropolis. Staff were generally helpful, particularly the evening staff in restaurant and the front desk.
Air conditioning would not go lower than 20c which meant switching off and opening patio doors to get to sleep - result, insect bites on exposed arms. Ran out of breakfast tea (black) for several days, Had to buy some from convenience store.
The perfect location. Clean, very comfortable rooms. Good breakfast with the ultimate view of the city. Staff very efficient and really welcoming. If I visited Athens again, I wouldn't bother looking for an alternative. This place is great, highly recommended.
Athens Gate Hotel is walking distance to all the best sites in Athens. We had originally thought that we'd buy the multi-day metro pass but never needed to. On foot there is so much more to discover in Athens. The hotel is also just a block away from the public bus stop to Sounio to see Poseidon's Temple. The breakfast is served on the roof garden with astonishing views of the Temple of Zeus and the Acropolis. We highly recommend Athen's Gate Hotel!
The only downside to the Athens Gate Hotel is that it is located on a very busy street with traffic all night. If you want to sleep with your windows open, then you'd be better on the backside of the hotel. However, then your room wouldn't overlook the Temple Zeus. We kept our windows closed so that we could enjoy the incredible view. The air conditioning system is very effective and extremely quiet, so we were able to cool our room down in the evening to a comfortable sleeping temperature.
