Featuring a roof terrace with views of the Central Highlands, El Hotel Candelaria Antigua is in a beautiful colonial-style house with an interior courtyard. It is in the center of Antigua Guatemala.
Score from 63 reviews Very good
This restored mansion offers charming colonial-style rooms with free Wi-Fi and views of the central courtyard and lush tropical gardens.
Score from 168 reviews Wonderful
Unique and beautifully appointed rooms, tasty breakfast, friendly staff (though minimal English spoken, but it's a Spanish speaking country), convenient location
WiFi not always great in the room but fine in the courtyard. Our tap broke and flooded the bathroom but this was quickly rectified by the owner. I was charged slightly more than the booking.com rate but I didn't argue as it was still great value and I enjoyed the stay.
General staff was wonderful, especially Roberto. Breakfast was good an on time every day.
General Manager, Walter Polanco, was rude and even invited me to seek legal recourse against them after a fire in the building caused an entire family of (16) to move out of the building for one night. No electricity, water, heat, etc. Refused to accommodate difference between charges at this hotel and new hotel. Very poor public relations, and will not be returning to this place! Carlos Ayestas
Besides having a nice garden wtih lots of flowers, Casa Capuchinas feels really safe behind locked gate. Location is quiet and all rooms are different with interesting textiles and decor.
Every room is different, and beautifully decorated. Most have working fireplaces which we didn't need but which would be so nice in colder weather. Staff are all WONDERFUL, such nice and helpful people. Location is good too, a short walk into town, but on a quiet street with no noisy bars or restaurants. Pretty bathrooms with hand-painted tiles.
Showers and bathrooms starting to look aged, broken and ancient floor tiles could be replaced with traditional "saltillo type" floor tiles. Towels old and scrawny. Easy things to fix and we already plan to go back there.
A very quiete place... no sounds from the street, and very good service. Good breakfast.
hard pillows... to hi
Casa Capuchinas is a peacefull place in the crowded Antigua downtown.
The large room was very quiet and quite grand with the lovely fireplace and comfortable beds. The walled garden was lovely and beautifully maintained.
As the building is old the walls were damp and peeling. The bathroom needed a thorough clean and the ancient sockets, which were hanging off in places, need replacing. Breakfast was poor- orange squash? and cold shop bought pancakes. We left and ate at one of the excellent nearby cafés.
The Location of Casa Capuchinas is excellent. The lodge is within walking distance of the major attractions in Antigua. The staff was super friendly and tried to help in every way. Breakfast was good and plentiful. We recommend Casa Capuchinas as a friendly, clean establishment.
The bathroom attached to our bedroom was barely adequate. Hot and Cold water faucets were poorly marked, even for Spanish speakers. You could get scalded one minute and chilled the next. No place to set the soap down or hang a wash cloth.Security for the room was inadequate. Latches wouldn't close properly, and half the screws for the fittings to the door and window frames were missing. Definitely needs work.
Ubication, the garden, view from room. (#1)
Poor cleanliness and wifi never works.
Superb location, very friendly staff, lots of breakfast, interesting rooms. In a superb location in the lovely town of Antigua the hotel is within walking distance of all the attractions this beautiful town has to offer, but is secure, quiet, (When the residents of Antigua are not setting off fireworks!) and we think, offers the best experience possible.
The place was beautiful. Andrea was delightful and very helpful. The sataff and breakfast lovely. It is a couple of short blocks from all the hubbub of town so one can be right in the middle of things yet sleep well. We also got good rates thru booking.com. We are returning there at the end of our trip and it feels like a refuge awaits us.
Spacious room - lots of character; bathroom supplies were appreciated; lovely garden and good location.
Phone didn't work in room, TV cable was faulty. The jam served at breakfast was imported packets from the US rather than locally sourced natural jams, and the juice tasted like a tang mix rather than pure.
it was quaint and I liked the location , Breakfast was nice
Wi fi was only available in the court yard
Most everything! Breakfast was good, staff were friendly, cleaning was thorough and location unbeatable.
Language barrier. I should learn Spanish.
I liked the large (2 queen size) room, fireplace, furniture/ornaments and well maintained grounds. Also, it was much quieter than other hotels we have stayed at in La Antigua.
I found the room to be a bit dark - lighting could have been better. Also, one of the table lamps had a broken shade that kept falling off. All in all - pretty minor problems.
It was beautiful and very clean. The staff was helpful and friendly. We would recommend the hotel to anyone.
Location close to Central Park, the place is beautiful and peaceful, rooms are big, some rooms have fireplaces when it gets cold
Rooms 3 and 4 have a very thin wall in between so you hear EVERYTHING your neighbors say and do...
U get aloot for what u pay. Really nice hotel.amazing. The room are big and beutiful, all was very nice
Nice large rooms. Rustic, but comfortable design
