Beautiful, old world charm. Easy to truly disconnect with everyday life at this resort. Breakfast at Cafetenango was as delicious as it was beautiful, with spectacular views and grounds.
Distance from the center of Antigua, with infrequent shuttle service. Our one full day in Antigua was Dec 22, coincidentally the same day as the Filadelfia Employee Christmas Party, which means the resort essentially shut down for six hours, I.e., no restaurant, shuttle, drink service. My objection is that the resort gave us no warning, even at check-in, so we were not prepared.
No candles or incense like other hotels in Antigua, plain, simple, bright and cheap bulb lights. No sophisticated mood. Price vs quality. Overpriced restaurant. Attention to detail.
No air conditioning in rooms
Very nice hotel, staff very friendly, definately recommend to stay here! Recommend to take the coffee tour, bit touristy but very educational
Antigua center was not really walking distance so a car is handy.
The hotel was private, clean, service was great and the food was fresh. The coffee was fabulous and the tour was worth the time. The grounds were well kept and the views are amazing.
One night at 12:30 we were briefly awakened by loud hotel guests laughing in the outdoor patio.
The natural beauty of the place and the quietnes.
No complementary breakfast.
1) Settings, room decoration, the warm swimming pool, all the activities, staff friendliness. 2) A special mention for the food at the hotel restaurant: absolutely top mark! The local Guate restaurant is not bad either, but the hotel restaurant is of the level Relais & Chateaux!
1) Standard room is a bit dark and small (although well decorated); if you plan to spend some time in your room, take a suite. 2) I was lucky that the hotel was quiet, and I guess that it is like that most of the nights.... but check beforehand that there is no party or wedding, as standard rooms are just next to the bar and restaurant.
