The selection of used soaps, and skid mark collection on toilet. I was only in the building for 5 hours.
On booking in it was established the room had not been cleaned, I used the opportunity to go out for a bit. On my return I could not get into the room and after 1 hour of waiting for staff and lifts and constantly being told it is not a problem I got access to the room. It was not cleaned properly, my towel was damp, no cups or glasses, dirty toilet and bathroom. The room was small but that did not concern me. I suspect the nature of the building would make some travellers feel uncomfortable.
The gentleman who checked me in was very friendly and accommodating. He didn't speak much English but he tried and he was very smiley. He kept saying that "anything you need, let me know", so that was nice. The room itself was clean (a few very small ants but that's normal in the Chungking mansions), tidy, presentable, tv worked. And NO BEDBUGS that I could find :D
The Chungking mansions can be a big overwhelming. The bottom level is a maze of vendors who pester you constantly for you to buy things. The elevators are terrible because there is only one for even floors and one for odd floors. The volume of people is crazy. Because this place is located on the 4th floor, there's no chance of getting on the elevator to go down, because by the time it picks ip everyone on the floors above, there's no room. Which leads me to this- the staircase. Do not use at night as it could be potentially dangerous. I used it the morning after I left as I grew frustrated after waiting over 15 minutes and countless packed elevators. I went down the stairs which are grimy and creepy, which lead to a shanty back alleyway. The room itself: the only complaints I have about the room regard the bathroom, bed and a few ants. The bathroom in my room (6) had an overwhelming smell of sewage- so that every time I opened the sliding door to go in (Also the shower is above the toilet), the smell was overpowering and I had to hold my breath. The beds at Chungking mansions consist of a very thin layer of padding on a metal table.
we want new room ,but the staff tell us to arrange one high floor and new room ,but when we reach the other floor ,is too bad....room is very old ,and midnight someone just talk outside the door so we can't sleep till they gone....next time won't book it...
This Building is the worse in HK. The people downstairs are a nightmare. Not a good place to bring your girl. But to stay One night there is ok. The room is simple but clean and VERY small.
The Wifi are fast, the location is excellent and the people are very friendly.
The elevator are small a lot of people coming in and out of the building.
Location was quite good.
Chunking Mansion is the place you better avoid unless you want to experience similar phenomenon like Kowloon Walled City.
Horrible, everyone stares and makes comments about you. Was offered drugs everytime we walked in or out of the hostel. Felt threatened by the guy who works there, luckily the boss is used to this and told him to stay away from us. This hostel ruined our entire trip
Clean and good location
The lift is slow and old
Room service Location Staff available upon calling Wifi TV
Environment Cant pay using credit card Lift out of service in the morning during my stay Coconut oil smell of bedroom Chung King mansion is full of Indian Guys doing business there. Hence, may not suitable for solo girl traveller
clean and cheap room..awesome location..
elevator ia too tight..
nothing, Horrible personnel, horrible place, and very noise location!
I booked a room for 2 people (with one bed). When I arrived in the hotel, a guy at reception ask me many question and don't give me a room. after 20 min another guy arrived and give me a room(but in another location!!!!), then we didn't received to room than we ask and they answer us we have only that(we already paid...). We bad experience!!!!!
Good location and free upgrade for first two days.
You get for what you pay for. Wifi isn't stable and they won't change the sheets everyday and you have no toiletries inside.
location, wifi, bed, toilet, service
a bit small, a bit pricey, a bit sketchy
location, price, wifi
waiting time at elevators is very long (and no stairs), VERY small rooms, no possibility to pay with credit card (contrary to advertised)
Good locating, good buzz to building (Chung King Mansion), friendly staff. This guest house is actually clean (even bathroom seals), good AC and also fan. Take in mind this is Tsim sha Tsui, there is hustle and bustle. The staff are great, but it's good if you're able to be your own person in a very busy multicultural place as different cultures have mannerisms etc. Enjoy it and the people will also enjoy you.
By mistake I had booked for the current day and I realised the same immediately and informed the hotel about my mistake and requested them to give me avoucher for the correct date and in case I do not reach on that day they could keep my booking amount. BUt the hotel did not oblige and retained my amount, which I feel was not in good taste nor long term business ethics.
price very expensive
dirty, very untidy
room size, the location are not nice
Across street from subway. Sufficient service. Soft, clean bed. Shower heated quickly.
Very difficult to locate correct elevator in building. Hawkers everywhere. Hallway sometimes smelled of cigarettes. Wifi had occasional issues. Very tiny room, but that is Hong Kong.
The room was clean and of affordable price. The place is very accessible.
Great place for the one, who likes a little bit of adventure, while getting by lift to this guest house through the crowded first floor! Internet connection was really fast. Clean, wide bed, even if a little hard, but comfortable. Location, location, location!
Yeah, rooms are really tiny!
The environment is bad. I won't be there again. It is terrible.
WiFi don't work in this hotel!!!
