Room was hot even when the Air conditioning unit is turned on. There are also no adapters for international guests since Hong Kong's socket are 3 pinned. On our last night, the caretaker even turned off our aircon power without informing us. Elevator is only available until the 16th floor only so you need to use the stairs in order to reach your room at the 17th floor everytime. Not recommended!
everything is really so bad
I booked Hyatt Hotel but it turns out it is full so they had to move me to another guest house! This means that after going up the elevator to 16th floor, I climbed up the stairs to 17th floor only to be told by the manager that I have to move to a totally different block!!!!! There smell of people mixed with the scent of food is just too much to bear! Do not trust the pictures you see on line!
* great adventure ;) * good price as for HK * very close to the subway * nice neighbours from all around the world * the craziest building I've ever seen * no insects or anything dramatic
* they could clean more often * if the guy who runs the place falls asleep you might not get in at night easily * somewhat noisy * there were no towels, a few things were broken * pushy salespeople downstairs * not sure if the building meets any safety standards
The reception was tring to cheat the change when I paid in cash.cannot trust
The manager of the rubbish dirty mansion doesnt let you see your room before you decide and pay. but after you pay, you cannot get any refund even you say you wanna just the half of the money even you dont want to sleep there
location near The station/ some tourist spot.
so crowded place no elevator going to 17th floor. which they didn't mention online.
Expensive for a box
The price is ok for few nights. No more. You cannot expect nothing from this place.
The personal was very rude. They wanted to cheat us. They wanted to change our room for a very dirty one. Not the room we booked. I do not recommend this place. If you want something cheap, go there (there are plenty of cheap guesthouses) and book on site, having a look to the room before you pay.
While this house is decidedly not the Grand Hyatt Hotel, it is as cheap as any lodging available in hk, and its location within fabled (and infamous in the past) Chungking Mansions actually makes it a wonderfully immersive experience for the adventurous traveler. While not for everyone, I loved the multitude of multiethnic residents and shops and that I could find the best rate moneychanger in Kowloon and a laundry for my clothes, not to mention Indian food and cell phones, all in one place! The manager Jerry was excellent and helpful; in short it is worth the money for the young or adventurous - a place for diehard travelers, not tourists. I stayed a second time without hesitation.
1. The name didn't help finding the place. The taxi driver was confused, the elevator listing said "Nagaland Guest House" and the elevator didn't go to the 17th floor. Just make it clear about the name and walking up two extra flights of stairs. The line at the elevator was a 10 minute wait sometimes. 2. The combo toilet/sink/hand shower was not exactly luxurious - are you that good at multi-tasking? 3. Although A/C and hot water as well as TV are available, it is necessary to request the hot water or A/C circuit be activated (limited electrical capacity I presume).
Good location: very close to MTR and not far from HK - Macau Pier
Good localization but the building Chunking Mansion is dangerous place when you think about security....problems with lifts to much people inside the building doing anything, to much messy, the place is dirty and smells curry.
Wrong choice to select this guest house.
We liked the location of the guest house.
The room was very small, and it was difficult to get upstairs to the room and downstairs. We stayed in 2-persons room, however there was only a single towel and a pair of slippers. The owner of the guest house took money from the card before we arrived there, though according to the web-site information, the booking was free.
I like, nothing.
In the internet, it looks very nice. I thought, after I paid HK$400 they will give to me the room on that time. I went there from ground floor to 17th floor after a long line in the elevator. The problem, the guy asked me to go down stair and find the Flat A Building and go to the 15th floor. The room that was given to me has a broken aircondition and television. I went there, but I did not stay in Hyatt Guesthouse. They assigned to me to another guesthouse which I can say I was cheated. HKD400, I better stay in 3 star hotel.
