I was extremely disappointed with the hotel. It seems that the hotel site totally mis-represented.: First, the hotel is not even in Lan Kwai Fong (more like Sheung Wan); second, the view that you see from the site is totally not the view you get, you only get slivers of the harbour view (not the "sweeping views of Victoria Harbour" as desribed - I had a "Harbour View" room); and third: There's no way the room is 23 sqm, it's a tiny little rabbit cage (I've been to hk many times and usually stay at another hotel whose rooms are 19 sqm and the room there is much bigger. There weren't even have enough toileteries in the room when I checked in (only one tiny little tube of shower gel and no shampoo) so I had to call house-keeping to get more. The hotel is also so poorly built that you can hear other guests above you/ next you walk around and turn on/off the water; so I ended up getting woken up several times during the night. The bed is also very hard and uncomfortable. The standard of hygiene is also questionable: the toilet bowl had "stains" in it. YUK!! For the price I paid (HKD2,580), this was really terrible value for money. I shall never stay there again and shall also recommend my friends not to stay there.

I liked the friendliness of the front counter staff - a friendly smile and welcome means a lot when your in travel mode ( away from family and friends). Most Hotels grossly underestimate how much emotional comfort is given by this simple act of recognition, and, conversely how badly the guests feel when they are ignored by staff. In effect the guest is "coming home" - albeit a temporary home, on entering the Hotel, - a part of their brain does not accept being ignored. I liked the fact I felt comfortable asking staff about directions etc., - this built a "trust" factor that is really very very very important in the mind of a guest. On these issues I want to commend your Hotel staff. Well I was disappointed with the meals. I had to send back a Pizza which was not edible, I was not asking for a refund - however the kitchen staff supplied another meal which was quite good and refused my further offer to pay for this second meal. The breakfasts in my room were delivered in a very pleasent manner but the food was not hot - from my point of view after ordering a few breakfasts I decided to eat out instead. The tv was ok but the reception kept freezing on the screen which was annoying. I say these things not in any other way but to express my experiences and give you the honest feedback requested. But I thought the Hotel was a great place to stay and it was very well run by some great staff and I will stay there again as I just Love hk.

This a is a small, well-run boutique hotel in HK. The rooms are on the small side but well fitted out. The location is excellent for the central business area as well as the bars and restaurants of Hong Kong's soho area. Free WiFi throughout the hotel would be useful rather than just in the reception area. Maybe the shuttle buses could run to other central locations rather than just the airport express station - useful though this is. It is hard to get taxis at Kau U Fong as slightly off the beaten track and the hotel is small so doesn't attract that much traffic.

The location that's about it! Staff for the most part is indifferent. The rooms are small, very basic. The gym is old and small. It's not a great place to stay!

Convention weekend, so the price was outrageous for the room size. Loud Air conditioner required earplugs. Great location, and great staff. Size of the room was very very small.

I would highly recommend Lan Kwai Fong. The customer care was exceptional. Great value for money. All the staff were very eager to please and the food from room service was very nice and reasonably priced. The bed was small (I'm over 6 foot) and the bath was tiny (i live for my baths), other than that I can't fault it.

It was a perfect location. Great and attentive staff! Nice city / river view from the window - close to public transportation and nightlife. No Wi-Fi in the room. There is a launge on the 4th floor with free wi-fi but it's sort of an outside balcony with a roof. Not bad when people are not smoking around you... I also wish it stayed open.

Location I gained the impression that their overriding concern was to extract money from guests. We had no sooner arrived in our room when we received a phone call from reception to tell us that because I had made a mistake over the month when I had initially booked we would have to pay a higher rate for the room. On reflection I was aware of this and thought I had already payed the difference but it seems not. Then on going for the evening I was presented with a credit card chit to sign. Thinking it was the difference in the rates as per the earlier telephone call, I signed it. Then I examined the chit and found it was not. I asked for an explanation and was told it related to the payment I had already made for the room which had been debited to my account before leaving England. Why I was having to sign for something I had already paid I do not understand and have yet to satisfy myself that I have not paid twice. This was all very badly handled by the hotel and left a feeling of mistrust in my mind. Also, because of refurbishment work going on it was necessary to eat breakfast at a communal table which I did not care for. Not impressed with the hotel but perhaps that is HK for you. I think the staff were probably doing their best but the hotel policy I would think left much to be desired.

I think the hotel achieves its objective of providing a truly boutique experience while honoring the local culture. I have stayed in the hotel many times and the experience has been of a high standard and very consistent in the years it has been open. I highly recommend it to all my friends traveling to HK.

My wife and I had a standard type double room on the 25th floor with spectacular views of the city. The hotel is in a good central location, rooms are clean and staff friendly and helpful. We were there 3 days and they provided a free bowl of fruit and free daily bottle of water. The standard type double room was very small with little wardrobe or drawer space or anywhere to put your cases. I don't mind living out of a suitcase in cramped conditions for a few days but it would be restricting if you were there for a week or so.
