The bay, the view.
No free Wifi, rooms are over price and cannot include the wifi, has to pay extra.
I stayed one night at silvermine beach resort and loved it! Beautiful location overlooking the beach, gym and pool facilities and delicious buffet breakfast all included in the booking. Taxi ride from HKG airport was approx 30 min but the scenery and mountain views on the journey to the hotel were spectacular. If you're after a little piece of tranquility in Hong Kong I definitely reccommend!
lovely location, oasis in hong kong
1) Service ( check in experience, service at breakfast.... ) (2) Facilities is dated and needs to upgrade (3) Curtain is too see through, cannot sleep through the night
Location is unmatched. Rooms have been recently updated - bathrooms are now very neat.
I asked to book a taxi for 6.30am the previous afternoon but the receptionist failed to get one. Had to walk to the pier to get one and almost missed my flight
The location right at the beach; to my knowledge, the only such hotel in Hong Kong that allows you to have an overnight stay at the beach without the hassle of travel. Facilities are okay for a three star place. Breakfast is okay, although service at breakfast has room for improvement.
The place is a few hundred dollars too expensive for what they offer. But since the have a de-facto monopoly on this kind of location in Lantau and possibly Hong Kong, they can afford it.
it is nice place to stay away from hustle bustle of hongkong
very far from mtr
location, only advantage
Location was great.
The common facilities need renovation ASAP.
Good location and pleasant rooms. Pretty quiet, clean and reasonably comfortable and there was a very nice pool. Breakfast was included, making it good value for money, and it was a reasonable breakfast with a good selection for the standard of the hotel.
Rooms were compact which was not problem until an extra bed was added for our daughter, then it was really tight and one person had to climb into bed from the bottom as the beds had to be pushed right up together to fit in the room. There was no coffee in the room (despite it being listed on the list of amenities) and for three people for two nights they supplied only 2 Chinese tea bags, and upon asking at reception, we were told only tea was supplied. These were minor things though.
Peaceful, clear, green zone - Oasis near crazy Hong Kong city. Safety and nice sand beach with not many people (october). Warm water in clean ocean (28). Dog-freindly - if you don't like the animals it is bad place for you. Hotel and rooms has good style, but not very mordern (good for me).
Cantonese cooking is ouwful for me, but it is everywere in HK. The breakfast is not very various, and all 4 days the assortment was the same.
Room, view, pool, position, convenience for ferry and bus, ease of booking
Public areas scruffy, breakfast poor
Nice place to get away and relax
Mold in bathroom
The location is very good for this resort, close to the beach and also the ferry to the Hong Kong Island. The bed is also very comfortable.
You have to pay HK$100 to get wifi, this can be improveed from their service as most hotel provide free wifi now. The other thing is they mess up with my payment, so beware to keep your check out receipt in case they double charge you.
Very friendly staff. Nice location and area of the hotel. Perfect bed.
Do not have any chance for taxi parking neat the lobby. Very unconvenient to walk with luggage to the place of the taxi stop.
the quiet location
only blue taxis permitted on island and we had to wait 1 1/2 hours for a blue taxi
We had a one night stopover in Hong Kong and given we'd recently spent time in the city we wanted to see a different side. This was great! We were exhausted from flying and we arrived atbthe resort at 8am and were able to check in immediately to have a sleep and shower. We also checked out late the next day. The beach is lovely and the town has everything you need. The no. 2 bus takes you direct to Big Budda and the no. 1 to Tai O, which you can use cashnor Octopus card for. So easy. We taxied to and from the airport, about 160 Hong Kong Dollars.
Its not the most modern but thats no problem. No free wifi, you have to buy a drink in the restaurant for 2 free hours.
Our 2 day visit was cut short by illness and the overnight staff could not have been more helpful. I will plan to stay again in the future.
Unable to access the outside seating as all the sliding patio doors were disabled.
The bathroom decoration is old.
I can't imagine that there is a hotel in the world the restaurant guy order the guest to leave the restaurant if not order something . That happened with me !
pool, service, friendly staff, close to beach., easy to catch transport. helpful staff. Low cost, great value for money, cheap meals, lovely setting
We liked everything about The Silvermine Hotel The location is wonderful The staff are so friendly and helpful. We will definitely be returning Sue Anita Barbara and Sue On 60th birthday get together .
The only downside is there are no lifts so luggage was a bit of a problem but the staff did help us because we were women
the views and the hotel is in front of the beach. The buffet breakfast was very good.the staff was very helpful.
the outside environment is not well maintained especially the beach front area.
Surroundings and beachview was very nice. Friendly hotel staff
The building as such and our room seemed like a leftover from the 80ies. No elevator, lots of locked doors. Hotel corridor was very damp and drab looking and also a bit smelly. Bedroom was okay but the bathroom was definitely a No Go due to mold and dirt on the tiles and such. Breakfast was also a bit disappointing
I have stayed in this hotel about 7 times, it use to be good value with good staff. Now it is over priced and the staff are mostly unfriendly and very business like, not a friendly atmosphere you would expect from a hotel in this location.
We love the quiet beach location of this charming hotel - away from crowds and bustle of the city but well enough serviced to enable an enjoyable holiday. Staff at the hotel are friendly and helpful. Rooms are on the small side - but well equipped with charming antique-style furniture, comfortable bed and all the essentials. We were lucky enough to have ocean view rooms both times we stayed and cocktails on the terrace any time of day help this feel like a real seaside holiday... Hotel is a half hour taxi drive to the Airport and under half hour by ferry back to HK Island or other nearby islands. Inexpensive local buses take you to key sights on Lantau. Resort like most of Mui Wo is a bit quirky but we love its laid-back charm and beach-side location... Have stayed twice and will definitely go back again...
Breakfast bar is fine but other meals a bit hit and miss... Menu does offer a variety of options for eating any time of day though including traditional English "high tea"... There are quite a few local restaurants a short walk away - mostly very good value for money. There are only stairs to the rooms, no lifts, which might be a problem for some... Although a bit 'tired' in many ways the charm of this place far outweighs it's deficiencies...
