I can't imagine that there is a hotel in the world the restaurant guy order the guest to leave the restaurant if not order something . That happened with me !
pool, service, friendly staff, close to beach., easy to catch transport. helpful staff. Low cost, great value for money, cheap meals, lovely setting
We liked everything about The Silvermine Hotel The location is wonderful The staff are so friendly and helpful. We will definitely be returning Sue Anita Barbara and Sue On 60th birthday get together .
The only downside is there are no lifts so luggage was a bit of a problem but the staff did help us because we were women
the views and the hotel is in front of the beach. The buffet breakfast was very good.the staff was very helpful.
the outside environment is not well maintained especially the beach front area.
Surroundings and beachview was very nice. Friendly hotel staff
The building as such and our room seemed like a leftover from the 80ies. No elevator, lots of locked doors. Hotel corridor was very damp and drab looking and also a bit smelly. Bedroom was okay but the bathroom was definitely a No Go due to mold and dirt on the tiles and such. Breakfast was also a bit disappointing
I have stayed in this hotel about 7 times, it use to be good value with good staff. Now it is over priced and the staff are mostly unfriendly and very business like, not a friendly atmosphere you would expect from a hotel in this location.
We love the quiet beach location of this charming hotel - away from crowds and bustle of the city but well enough serviced to enable an enjoyable holiday. Staff at the hotel are friendly and helpful. Rooms are on the small side - but well equipped with charming antique-style furniture, comfortable bed and all the essentials. We were lucky enough to have ocean view rooms both times we stayed and cocktails on the terrace any time of day help this feel like a real seaside holiday... Hotel is a half hour taxi drive to the Airport and under half hour by ferry back to HK Island or other nearby islands. Inexpensive local buses take you to key sights on Lantau. Resort like most of Mui Wo is a bit quirky but we love its laid-back charm and beach-side location... Have stayed twice and will definitely go back again...
Breakfast bar is fine but other meals a bit hit and miss... Menu does offer a variety of options for eating any time of day though including traditional English "high tea"... There are quite a few local restaurants a short walk away - mostly very good value for money. There are only stairs to the rooms, no lifts, which might be a problem for some... Although a bit 'tired' in many ways the charm of this place far outweighs it's deficiencies...
Beutiful beach on the door step Free breakfast Quiet area Local cuisine Local attractions bus/taxi away Food/travel - cheap
Holes in sheets Room quality average for price but made up for by view
Location! Directly at the beach, and an easy walk to Mui Wo ferry pier, with lots of food options. The lunch and dinner at Silvermine's restaurant are good as well. Nice pool. Better to take a sea view room.
Service, comfort, cleanliness etc. are just average. Therefore, the price is rather high. You decide: if location and beach is important, go to Silvermine Resort. If you don't care but want best service and comfort, go somewhere else.
Great location, beach on doorstep and comfortable recently renovated room, most likely the best place to stay in the area. Freshwater pool also good for a swim.
Not great value for the expensive price. The breakfast was very ordinary and chaotic , the staff were unable to keep up with the rush , fruit ran out, coffee mugs ran out, long wait to make toast on one slow toaster , over boiled hard boiled eggs and greasy cold spring rolls...better to give it a miss.
location, style, garden, breakfast
unprofessional staff, more expensive price than Ctrip
We were dropped off at the back of the hotel and had to carry our 3 suitcases along a back road to the reception. We were given our keys on the 3rd floor and told we would have to carry out suitcases there ourselves. We couldn't find a lift so had to carry them up the stairs. Not a great start to the stay with 3 tired kids in tow.
Beach view. Easy to travel to and close to other transportation. Very quiet.
Village and food options Area Close to Tung Chung (Big Buddha)
Beach isn't that great, water is a bit muddy...
Location, new wing of the hotel.
The buffet. Nowhere near as good as it used to be, and the décor does not fit.
The room was nice, good view, and design. Comfortable bed! Location right on the beach can't be beat, and the outdoor cafe quite comfortable.
Some staff a bit unprofessional. Some of the facilities were not kept as well as expected. They would not honor a late checkout.
every thing it was exelant
i like the tranquility and the simple facilities. You can go to the beautiful beach whenever you like because it is just within the walking distance.
There were some old corners in the bathroom that look old and dirty. There were some black things coming out of the floor after some time.
excellent rooms and overall atmosphere, great location at seafront.
Breakfast only 7 to 10 am, considering the late night nature of celebrating moon festival would advice to extend breakfast hours on the following day.
Some staff. Attitude of some Staff Charge a 6 year old for breakfast. Charge of100 for wifi. Basic cleanliness in room No lift to room.
Nature in Mui Wo is very beautiful and so are the hiking and biking tracks. Ferries to different islands or buses to Lantau Islands' sceneries start from the ferry pier and the bus station in the town center. The hotel can be reached by a ten minute walk or if arranged in advance a pick up can be organised, cars can not get there as the town becomes car free in the following. Water buffaloes and wild cows come to the beach at night and are an unique spectacle to watch. Positive features:The breakfast and restaurant cuisine, politeness and helpfulness of staff, location directly at the beach, facilities such as: pool, terrace, breakfast room, internet corner which accommodates two computers, rooms with different interior, beds and bathrooms. The water quality of the sea was one of the best at that time of the year, not too hot, clear with beautiful colours and refreshing.
I had a room with a beautiful view overlooking the bay. Minor inconveniences were the bed which was too soft for me and the air condition which was too strong during the night. In regards of latter I have to fairly say I am very sensitive on that issue, it might not affect everyone in the same way as it did me.
The view ..the location ..the beach esp.great hiking nearby...and close to ferry terminal..will stay again in the future
The water in the sink is very stingy ...and the wifi Is useless paid for nothing ...
the view was nice. happened to have lovely weather. staff were helpful.
customer service and food quality can be improved. renovation is necessary in corridors.
Staff are pretty cold. Lobby too small and crowded. Had to wait really long time to check in and none staff smiled during my whole 4days' stay.
We have been to the hotel to different times of the year. The pricing is absolutely reasoned considering that Hong Kong is one of the worlds top five cities. Where else does one have such a variety e. g. cultural, shopping, business and relaxing. All this with a beautiful tropical scenery and for this particular place even with a clean and guarded with good sea water quality provided beach. The check-in is friendly and efficient, all is settled straight away. The food in the restaurant is fresh, which is not necessarily selfspeaking considering that the hotel serves both, asian and european cuisine. The breakfast buffet has plenty dishes to offer and service is helpful and concerned to please your needs. The rooms are predominantly in a good condition also some are on hold for refurbishment. This is a steadily ongoing need of hotels to refurbish and maintain their facilities. All in all the rating obtained does not reflect the real qualities and services of this place. Having read through some of the comments it seems rather that some guests settle bills or release frustrations but not fairly rate the features given. It is standard in Hotel to charge for wireless internet use or to for usage of adapters. And the staff policy of a hotel should not be subject to a rating at all, nostalgia is alright to possess but some people just retire and then you need to act quickly to maintain service to your guests, dude.
