Stanford Hotel Hong Kong  

The location of the hotel is excellent, about 10 mins casual walk to both Mong Kok mtr station and Mong Kok East railway station. Mong Kok station gave us access to 2 lines and Mong Kok East to 1, therefore we have a fairly easy time to navigate around among hk island, Kowloon and even Lantau island. It was a very strategic location we picked and it gave us easy access to abundant restaurants, shopping opportunities, cinemas and the simple joy of people watching :o Well, there comes the glass half empty side: there were way too many people in the vicinity of the hotel. Everyday we had to push through throngs and throngs of people to get anywhere. Location, location, location, that's what we paid for and the only good thing we got out of this hotel.

We stayed for 6 nights and paid around $ 140 as the average daily rate. 1) From the pictures on Booking.com, the room looked very differently from what we got. The room was very small, around 15 sqm (without the bathroom). The queen bed occupied almost the entire space and the writing desk was squeezed in so tightly that if you sit in the chair, you don't get enough leg room to feel comfortable. 2) The flat panel tv was way too high up on the wall, facing the bed. That was the most weird location to put a tv that we ever encountered. My boyfriend is 184 cm and he made a joke that he would need to grow half of his height in his neck to be able to watch that tv comfortably. Basically, you need to be a giraffe to watch that tv, seriously. 3) First time we had house keeping staff cleaning our room while we were inside the room without permission, which was very weird. 4) The check-in took forever since they wanted full 6 days room rated (plus service charge) deposited in cash and plus 500 hkd for damages or mini bars. Nobody in the lobby bothered to help us with the luggage while 3 of them were just standing there. There was only one very small counter as front desk and maximum 2 guest services agents available. 5) Password for Internet given to us turned out to be invalid and it took us 3 calls plus 2 days waiting to get it solved. 6) I ordered an iron and an ironing board on this website, but it was missing for the entire 6 days. I called front desk twice, but it just never got delivered. In the end I gave up. In conclusion, I won't recommend this hotel to anybody that I care about.

The staff was excellent and professional. The room was very clean and had all of the amenities of a 5 star hotel. Also, the location was a 5 minute walk to the MTR and very quiet even though the neighborhood was filled with street restaurants. I will stay here again in the future.

Close to the mtr and shopping districts, very efficient and polite staff, always helpful. Able to leave bags prior to check in and after check out, so we could have freedom to see Hong Kong on the days we arrived and left without having to take them with us. Our non smoking room was clean and sweet smelling with enough room for our bags.

The airconditioning in the breakfast room was freezing and you needed a warm jacket to eat there.

It was very close to many shops, restaurants, the ladies market and stations

The rooms were so small it was very difficult to move around in them. Because of renovations, the foyer was very small also and difficult to get past pepple checking in and out.

Great for foodies & shopping esp electronics and ladies wear. Has michelin star one Tim sum restaurant nearby. Walking distance to MTR station. Hotel recently revonated as room is quite nice, has hair dryer, water heater to make coffee, and free WiFi.

A little too far from main road if luggage is big and heavy to drag along as road is always crowded and surface not even. Not advisable to use airport bus unless travel light. Taxi fare from hotel to airport is HK235 if 3 suitcases.

the hotel is just a walk away from shopping malls, restaurants, and MTR station.

smells cigarette smoke in the lobby and inside the lift. should have at least 1 cartoon channel for kids.

The location of the Hotel l, is excellent, it close to everything.. shopping eating, But The prices is too high for the quality of the hotel. Everything is too old. , The only thing i don't like is, they do not have bar soap.

Only thing is the location.

The Stanford Hotel staff are friendly and efficient. The hotel is very conveniently located in Mong Kok. I've now stayed at the Stanford Hotel on 3 occasions for holidays and would be happy to return for a forth stay. The breakfast at the hotel is very good. I like too how each room now has a safe. It's more convenient than using a safe deposit box in the lobby.

The beds are very hard. They take a while to get used too. The pillows are not firm but this was easily fixed as I asked for another pillow and it was quickly provided. On arrival, I needed to advise the hotel staff of the tariff and breakfast costs I was quoted by www.booking.com. The cost they quoted me on arrival were a little more but they quickly agreed on the initial website price.

MTR's quite a distance away, about 10-15 minutes walk. thank goodness it was winter when we went, ensuring we didn't perspire with all the walking needed to go to the MTR.

No bell boy to take care of luggage offered proactively. No clear communication to guest esp foriegners on kind of meals availablw.
