Score from 500 reviews Very good
Loved the layout of the rooms in their own apartments with shared living areas. Great environment to form friendships with other travellers.
Good place to stay, owners are really nice.
Staff is kind.
cheap water, excellent location, super clean, friendly atmosphere, there is even a kitchen with fridge and free hot water.
the boss kept constantly looking into guest's rooms. have to queu for the bathroom but I guess that happens everywhere
Close to the bus stop A21 from the airport (Nathan Hotel stop); close to MRT station; clean rooms; very secure
Great place to stay if you don't that's right budget
I made the mistake of paying in cash for 3 nights on arrival- without getting a receipt (naive, first-time hostel booker). I was then shown the room (5 beds instead of 4- and I had booked a bed in 4 bed dorm room). I was given a top bunk- where it's extremely stuffy and bed was very hard. no space for any luggage in the room- had to put my stuff in locker outside of the room. Then at 11.40 when I was trying to sleep- the staff member (male- Chinese without a word of spoken English) kept coming into the room and switching on the lights! Then a bunch of guests were just checking out- completely oblivious to anyone else trying to sleep. I left that evening- and was refused a refund for the other 3 nights. tried to arrange to come for a refund the next morning but was told to come in the afternoon - I didn't bother, as I fully expected to be ignored on arrival. Also- dead insects in the rooms and corridor and dirty bathroom. building unsafe and too far from any mate station. Huge window facing a major road meant ridiculous light and air pollution- impossible to actually sleep. All I needed this hostel for was to sleep and shower - and I couldn't do either! Do not go there!!
May li (the owner) is very kind. The room is so clean and tidy.
Its not so fR away frm the MTr but mayb only me felt that lol becuz im lazy to walk lol and the lift looks so old..
Super-seedy neighborhood but all the better for it. The rooms are like oases, clean, bright and functional if small. Our part of the guesthouse was a short walk from the advertised address fand right at the entrance to the Temple street market.
The large cockroach which fell out of my bag one morning and scuttled off to who-knows where.
quick easy communication for very last minute booking, easy check in. nice comfortable 4 bed female dorm.
No windows, not a lot of space - however compared to other hostels and budget hotels this was way better. I have slept in many broom cupboard size rooms in Hong Kong, so this was good by comparison. There were some strange guys sleeping on the couch in the common area. I was having trouble sleeping due to jetlag so wanted to sit in there to work on my computer, but these guys seemed to be using it as their bedroom.
very close to the night market!
old building, rooms pretty small
I like to stay in Tai An guest house, because it is very accessible place for shopping. I like the attitude of the ladies in-charge of the rooms because they try to accommodate our needs or complains even though they could hardly speak English. The owner are very considerate to what ever request we did pertaining to the rooms. The price of the rooms are very affordable.
The only concerned of mine was one of the room my friends stayed, the restroom was not cleaned and the door was broken the first day we arrived.
Its location 2 mins walk from MTR Clean room.
Room very small but this is Hong Kong
The place was secure, and it was very clean.
Staff was barely present. There was no receptionist present to welcome anyone in the building. One had to figure things out on his own, without being able to speak the language.
Location is very good.
For two people, the room is very small.
It's dirty! No Airconditioning! And we had to share the bathroom! I think Booking.com don't know what they selling :(
Very comfy living room and dorm room, in a good location with good value for money.
The staff were friendly but didn't speak much english. This is okay for me because I can speak mandarin but I should let other travellers know this. Also they were disorganised upon my arrival couldn't find my booking, had to ask me how much I would be charged, haha.
Could have a little bit more customer service with a smile.
I meet a lot of different countries solo traveler in Tai An Guest House. That was a amazing and awesome experience for me as a first time backpacker. We manage to share with each other our travel experience in Hong Kong at the cozy living hall. Besides that, we travel together although we just get to know each other. The owner and staffs are friendly, helpful and make us feeling like home. The facilities is pretty great for a backpacker usage.
The proximity of the area to the attractions that we went to, we managed to breeze thru our prepared itinerary without difficulty using either the bus or the MTR.
They should put more English speaking front staff to welcome guests to avoid confusion on bookings made and how to go about payment.
clean, friendly and good location. near market and mrt station.
