a hotel of great heritage and history. modern interior with some special decoration like the sea shell, old styled table lamp... staff is very helpful in planning our tour and transporation routes. breadfast in the glass- roof restaruant is very special. highly recommend!
Our stay in general is quite pleasant and this place offers a nice choice for a weekend getaway from the busy city life. The staff is friendly and helpful but not exactly trained enough to provide 5 star services.
The renovation is nicely done but not everything is designed for comfort. For instance, bathroom is spacious but fitted with a tiny sink and a standing jacuzzi that doesn't quite work - why bother? And quite out of a place for a heritage property of this nature!
Staff were very polite and helpful Very luxurious rooms with everything you could want or need in the room. Stunning views. Peaceful and a pleasant walk to the village. The restaurant food was good and better than we expected having read some reviews. We stayed in a downstairs room and had read that tourists can look in when they are looking around - this is not true. There are blinds to ensure no one can look in or even walk close to your window. It felt private and exclusive.
Interesting hotel, wonderful location, a real one-off.
This boutique hotel offers high quality comfortable furnishings. The unique location amid the simple fishing village of Tai O is ideal for travellers or local citizens to get away from it all ... for a day or 2. The hotel is part of a social enterprise project, hence it offers services from the heart not necessarily over the top 5 star though. The staff will help if they can and are friendly. The cafe is simple but superb setting. In fact, the only place of this quality in Tai O.
You need to keep your door open to have the ocean view. The door is hard to open. Should provide written instruction to operate the sophisticated TV. Else, should run through a short demo session when guests are shown to the room. Should offer pick up and drop off service from bus terminal via boat.
Beautiful setting. quite getaway. accommodating staff. a haven from the hustle and bustle of downtown HK. Tasteful design and renovation.
Hard to get there. Cars are not allowed.only buses or designated taxis.
The idea of conserve and revitalize heritage of Hong Kong is the main reason I stay in this hotel
Location is pretty inconvenient and poor value for money
The building is historical and unique.
Privacy is a main concern. All rooms on ground floor are exposed to the public for viewing. The staff should have more professional training to upgrade their service. The rooms are very expensive to cover their cost but the breakfast is very basic and should be upgraded to match the charge.
Nothing could beat arriving at the hotel by water taxi as the sun set over the sea. We were welcomed and shown to our room Treasure Pond which was large and comfortable with a marble bathroom. This room overlooks the sea on the ground floor. We had a good dinner in the hotel restaurant which tasty food and well served.
We were very happy in rural HongKong and there was nothing we did not like. Except the rubbish on the beaches which is not the hotel's fault.
Quiet, restful holiday in a living museum. Beautiful interiors and luxuriously comfortable furnishings. Tai O village is full of character. Good coffee at Solo. Light, fresh aroma of prawn paste from the shops, so different from the pungent smells of other fishing villages. Amazingly fresh seafood.
As this is a living museum, ground-floor rooms get curious tourists peeking in the day. Feel sorry for the overworked staff. Hard to get hold of the staff in the evenings as the concierge on duty was always busy. Lack of regular maintenance, eg we struggled to open our wooden front door (probably expanded over time with sun exposure). These are trifles though, and understandable, as the hotel is run on a not-for-profit basis. I wouldn't hesitate to stay there again, and will choose an upper-floor room the next time.
The hotel was beautiful itself and it carries part of Hong Kong's history with it. Staying in this hotel makes customers better understand the architectures and culture of Hong Kong in older days. The hotel was renovated based on an old police station and it keeps many of the structures and some decorations unchanged. The hotel and surrounding environments are stunningly breathtaking and it is so comfortable to stay in their room. It was also a delight to enjoy any meal of the day at their restaurant as their glass root allows sunshine or moon beam to shine through. Staying in this hotel was a relaxing way to experience Hong Kong, even for a Hong Konger like myself.
If you are not fond of little friends like gekkos, you would not enjoy your stay. Still, gekkos and very small insects were what we saw. There was no trace of roaches or rats.
This is a very quiet area of Hong Kong. The local sea foods are excellent, the view from hotel is good.
Too much tourists visit the Heritage building, so it is quite noisy in the morning.
This is a very quiet area of Hong Kong a little off the beaten tourist route. The local sea foods are excellent, and little food stalls well worth sampling
they have no comfortable seating if arriving early.A 2 or 3 seater settee would be great, Restaurant chairs should having padding available for those requiring it.
Nice environment and view, along the seaside
The staff didn't tell me I can take 2 mins boats to the hotel and it takes me around 30mins walking cross the village alone. Cats and dogs are around and scares me.
it is a wonderful hotel. both the room n toilet was sooo big that my family (2A1C) enjoyed staying in this comfortable room. the free tour provided by hotel was interesting.
Location . restaurant high tea very good. Eveming meal also.
Room quite dark and at times damp.
The scenery is very nice
I found a used female underwear under a chair.
1. We were on the top floor - the room was big with a separate lounge area 2. Quiet, peaceful and lovely location 3. Beautiful heritage building
1. Service could be improved. We were lost on our way there and I rang 4 times before the receptionist picked up the phone
Overall feel of the whole property. Welcoming and very helpful staff.
no complaints at all
The mountain & seaview in front of the hotel. The quietness of the place at night.
Beautifully restored place rooms very comfortable, great beds and attentive staff.
Quite a drive from HK and/or airport and no beach within close reach.
Very friendly and helpful staff! Amazing spot at Tai O!
The one and only restaurant is way over-priced for the quality of food!
nice colonial feeling, great view and quiet surroundings. Interesting walk ( 20 mn) through a typical Chinese fishing village before reaching destination (travel light).Comfortable rooms with good linen, large bathroom . Nespresso free coffee.
the stains on the couch in the bedroom, the food quality and wine list are tourist hotel level, staff needs training to adjust to Heritage hotel experience.
I had a room on the upper floor. It was very nice with excellent view. The staff is very friendly.
Great escape from the busy city life in a heritage hotel. Spacious room with excellent facilities provided.
Building tours meaning constant disturbs from outsiders, especially curtain next to the desk cannot be closed properly jeopardizing privacy of the guests.
