It had a central location within walking distance of everything The staff had been very friendly and pleasant throughout until we queried something on the bill when checking out. We were charged on our bill for refreshments we had already paid for when we had them. Staff just shrugged and suddenly their english wasn't good so we double paid! Luckily it wasn't much but it left a negative impression. Be warned, a twin had a lovely double but with a rollout bed added to the room, not 2 beds |

In one respect, Hotel Bastion is quite well located near the historic sites of Zadar: the Roman forum and museum, the churches, the seawall promenade. In another, though, it's quite close to the ferries, so those looking for peace and quiet free of boat whistles should consider other options especially during the high season. We did not have a real problem finding the hotel, though we did have to circumnavigate the core district once to find the best ramp up to the hotel, which is just within the city wall. The room was clean and comfortable, though the decor was a bit dark and edgy. Great bathroom, a key differentiator as most travelers probably know. Staff are courteous and helpful. Overall, we had a very nice stay. Eat at Fosa, nearby. No business center that offered internet access. We were traveling without laptops and relied on hotels for this purpose. |

The wonderful location at the edge of the walled city was quite a surprise and we enjoyed our stay in the beautiful accommodation. Well, the only thing we did not like was the music at breakfast - it just wasn't suitable for a 4-star hotel. American singers screaming words in English are pretty tasteless. How about a little Mozart instead. |

The staff were very helpful, good English. Rooms were well furnished. Location was perfect. Would have liked the spa to have been included in the price |

Very central, close to everything, not a large room but very comfortable with an excellent bathroom. Good breakfast. A la carte dinner was expensive, better options in town. |

The location. It was close to all the main attractions Seemed a bit pricey. I stayed in another hotel in Zadar which was a third of the price we paid at the Bastion, but this was out of town. |

We loved the Hotel Bastion. The Hotel is beautiful, easy to get to with convenient parking, and in the best location imaginable to see the amazing old town of Zadar. Breakfast was excellent-we didn't eat dinner in the restaurant. Very, very comfortable room in a lively, but still quiet neighborhood. This is just one review, and many of the reviews for this hotel complain about the price and the fact that the spa and parking are extra, but everyone has the opportunity to find cheaper lodging, so I don't see the criticism as fair. We wouldn't stay anywhere else and had a wonderful stay here. |

Hotel was well-located (a few minutes walking near the old town). Parking facilities. Kind staff. We booked a non-smoking room but it smelt strongly of cigarette smoke. Fortunately the staff changed it for another one. Poor breakfast for a 4* hotel. Price is too high. |

Just a bit too pricey but they are playing on their unique location which is highly convenient and the utter lack of competition - only one other hotel in the Old Town. |

The hotel is very modern and well decorated. The location is also good. One person attending all the restaurant for the breakfast is clearly not enough and therefore the related service was really poor and disapointing for this kind of hotel. Many customers were complaining. As an example there were not spoons in the table and you needed to ask for. |

Room was in very good condition. Hotel staff were helpful. Hotel offers laptop usage in the lobby if you need. Restaurant's room service and food were excellent. It is an expensive hotel! Expect to pay a 5 star hotel price. |

This hotel was a little expensive for a holiday hotel, but we certainly received value for money! The spa + treatments were fantastic (we tried the big package and loved it!) and the meals on the terass in the evenings were magnificent. The restaurant was many times better than at the usual grill/restaurant, but not that much more expensive. Nothing! It was a pity that there were no balconies in the rooms, but this is an old protected building that doesn't fit with such amenities. The terass/courtyard was a good alternative for an evening drink. |

Excellent location - next to the Garden Bar, terrific service and helpful staff as well. We used it as a stopover on the first night on our way south, and liked it so much we booked again for the return flight. Zadar is a very under-rated city - well worth a couple of days visit. |

No. Nb Where in all the categories above does one find the usual reason (I hope) for going on holiday, i.e. culture / sightseeing? |
