Food was delicious and the rooms very clean and nicely decorated. Kids loved the animals and the play area the hotel had. Excellent for couples or families with young kids.

Fabulous location five minutes walk from the lower lakes at Plitvice and the boat to the upper lakes. Staff very friendly and helpful. Dinner very good, as long as the set menus suit you.

Soundproofing between rooms very poor - can easily hear people next door, and lots of noise as people move around above you. Rooms very dark with small windows and low energy lighting. Repetitive soundtrack played everywhere - if I hear 'one moment in time' ever again it will be far too soon! No Internet connectivity which made booking my next location difficult. Wasn't given a receipt so unable to verify charges which concerned me. Compared to staying just outside the national park very expensive and rates don't seem to reflect the fact that the place is still being built (April 2013) although they were very considerate about noise of construction.

Evereything about Ethno House is fantastic! The staff were friendly and helpful the rooms are comfortable. The restaurant was good and don't forget to book a message and relax in the salt room after a day walking the lakes. We can't say enough about Ethno house

The gps was not able to find the hotel on the map so we drove for an hour in the woods and we had to ask twice for the way

I really couldn't imagine staying anywhere else, for a visit to this part of Croatia. I hope they keep up with the positive trend and once it is all finished, it will be even more special. The rooms are very charming and cosy and the decor is excellent. The bathrooms are very nice and modern but still very rustic. The breakfast was very good. All of the staff is excellent, very polite and accommodating. The location is absolutely fantastic, right in the park and away from everything. The property dog, a Bernadene dog Berni is fantastic and we got to take him for a walk. Very happy with our stay here, and will be back!

The only negative aspect would be the poor sound isolation. Try to get a room on the top floor. You will also hear the conversations of guests staying in the rooms next to you. That is really the only bad thing. I would suggest including a more sophisticated array of amenities in the bathroom, if i would need to make a suggestion.

The rooms and staff were lovely and affordable.

We, too were dropped at the entrance to the park to find out that we were no where close to the Ethno Houses. Finally someone at another hotel got an answer and the owners picked us up and took us back to the entrance-- however, the trip cost us $50. The food was good but there was no other choice and it was very pricey.

The rustic lodge (with modern amenities) was a pleasant change for the city hotels. How can one not be satisfied when staying at the Plitsvice Lakes! We enjoyed the best evening meal of our trip here. Would definitely return and recommend to friends and family.

I liked Most the staff. They are so Friendly. I went there in Winter where Snow was allover the Place so landscapes was really good. its a very good place to stay in if you visit Plitvice Park. The houses are wooden houses and very nice.

We loved everything about Ethno Houses. The rooms were wonderful, well insulated, cosy in winter, and I'm sure would be cool in summer (all rooms have air conditioning heat pumps, anyway). Everything was well built/maintained and spotless. The rooms are beautiful, well designed, and spacious. The restaurant on site produces good food, and plenty of it. The hosts, Nikola and Ivana are both really lovely, friendly but not invasive. The whole set up is wonderful, with a great children's play area. And within easy walking distance to gate 3 of the Plitvice Lakes area, though note, you have to buy your tickets from the main gate beforehand. We absolutely loved staying there, and would certainly do so again should we get the chance.

Modern villas which were run by young people committed to provide good service. Very comfortable, especially the bedding. Had a great nights sleep. Restaurant provided quality food and exceptional service. Close location to Plitciva National park.

Brand new with another house currently being built, Ethno Houses is only a twelve minute walk to the lake, far from the madding crowd of packaged tourism. The room is really comfortable, even though the noise of moving chairs from upstairs could detract from the calm. The restaurant was good-personable service and a tasty, if limited choice of main courses and desserts.

The manageress was somewhat impersonal but warmed up as our stay progressed. She needs to be sensitive to feedback on items, which need fixing such as the shower leaking or an electrical bulk requiring replacing.

The wooden cabin style of the rooms was just lovely. The rooms were warm, cosy, welcoming and a real treat.

No prices advertised in the restaurant. Beers very expensive and billing system is primitive. They also don't take credit cards so be prepared to take an adequate amount of cash.

Rustic accommodation right inside Plitvice Lakes National Park and within walking distance to the park's tourist paths and foot bridges. Good restaurant on site. Rooms are neat, very clean and the wooden finish creates a special atmosphere

Someone had a unique vision for this place. Lovely large rooms, double bed + couch, bathroom all made of wood. Comfortable bedding. Restaurant on site serving a multi-course dinner (choice of maybe 4 entrees), and a great breakfast spread. Playground, bocce, table tennis, etc. Looks like a pool will be a future asset. But the reason for staying is access to the Plitvice Lakes National Park. A short walk to paths with overlooks to the tallest falls. In the other direction, you can walk to the much less crowded Entrance 3 and walk or take the boat ride to the rest of the park.

Wood construction made for less soundproofing between rooms. Hard to find. We had two GPS's going with the address and lat/long coordinates and they both failed. Asked at another hotel, and were given easy directions. Heading north, pass Entrance 1 and 2 to the park, keep going until you cross a bridge, take sharp left to backtrack towards park on the other side (Plitvice Selo area). Signage was good once we found the correct turn.

Very well localized near the P3 entrance of Plitvica Jezera National Park. Nice decoration, wooden made rooms and furniture.

Hotel staff failed twice to arrange a taxi for us: first to pick us up at one of the entrance of the parks - even though they said they'd be picking us up 20 min later; and the latter when we scheduled a taxi for 6.25 am to go to the bus station and no one showed up at the time, only arriving at 7.00 am and no explanation was given. A little bit of profissionalism would suit well...

I liked the overall wood decor of the place reminiscent of older houses of yesteryear.

Location is a little out of the way. Rates were expensive for what you get - with breakfast was additional (peeked at this but didn't look appetizing). Optional dinner at €20. Wifi was down due to power failure 2 days prior so we drove to nearby Dejenica Cafe which had wifi and good food.

Nice hotel, polite friendly staff, cosy rooms and great location. It is very near to Plitvice Lakes, it was convenient to make a trip about nature reserve. The hotel is rather difficult to find but it is still possible it is located abot 3 km from the main road and first available restorante so we had to decide whether to stay in the hotel for dinner or go by car to nearest restorante. We chose to stay in the hotel and did not regret. Restorante in the hotel serves very big and tasty dinner. Although it is based on set menu the dinner is rather multivarious - you may choose main course from 3 options.

Heating system is manual and it was off when we came and it was warm in the room so we did not understand that heating was off. However, in the evening it was getting colder and we found we should turn the battery on, but in the night it became so hot that I woke up and had to open the window and turn off the system again. I would advise the hotel staff to inform travellers about these specific details and hold the battery in the medium level to avoid overcooling or overheating of rooms.

It was restful and in lovely surroundings. Use of natural timber in the interior was most attractive. Waiter in restaurant was lovely and very helpful. Rooms were well heated and warm throughout the cool Autumn night. Decor most attractive.

Access was difficult and GPS unreliable. Had us going through a national park road that was closed. The route to the hotel wasn't obvious from the main road.There was no Wifi, even to pay for, and a place this expensive should have had it available. Not acceptable for a hotel in this price range to not accept credit cards. For the price and as it was in the middle of nowhere, breakfast should have been included in the price. Having said that, the breakfast was good. It was so out of the way there were really no other meal options, besides the hotel restaurant and this was not pointed out at time of booking. Receptionist very cool when we arrived, although she had improved by the next day.

Exceptionnal location even if hard to find (do not arrive after sunset). All wooden yet modernized construction. Good Croatian food in the private dining room. Very nice staff. Still under construction for the whole site but already ok. Good value for money. Best small hotel in the park.

Difficult to find. Not enough sign boards to guide you. Real challenge if you arrive after dark. No credit cards accepted. The park entrance near the hotel does not accept cards or euros as well. Expensive dinner and breakfast. As there are no nearby options you don't have a choice.

Very interesting palce. The dark interior was initially a put off put it was nice for sleeping. Very friendly and helpfull staff. The location near P3 was perfect for entering the park! They're in the midle of significant construction and the place will be larger and have more features to offer soon.

Lets be honest; this hotel is not quite open yet. Its having a soft opening this season but will be fully open next year. What does that mean practically? Basically, workmen building next to you for 5 days a week. When its finished, its going to be beautiful; 6 Swiss style chalets built of local wood divided into 6 cosy apartments, all new materials and with a restaurant on site. For visiting the lakes, it couldnt be closer; 5 minutes stroll in either direction and you are either on the boat landing or by the big waterfall. The young staff are lovely, food is good, its not cheap but its not a rip off, the rooms are clean and new and there is a family run sense at the place. Is it 4 star? Well, nowhere in the Balkans is really 4 star. But if you are looking to get away from it all over the weekend, either with friends, family or on your own, its pretty perfect. Clean, new, hip-ish and with good TV channels too....

Its just not ready yet. Its quite tricky to find. In the week its probably a building site but its lovely and quiet at the weekends. because the rooms are wood, you can hear everything next door. But as its not for parties, thats kind of ok. Its not super-professional but its got a real easy vibe. No cards as yet so bring cash but they didnt mind me paying in a basket of currencies and didn't rip me off at all. Good people, nice place. Go....

I loved it, it was a great surprise as the hotel is new. When all the facilities are finished, it will be even better. I highly recomend it as the quality of the hotel is very good and everyone is very nice. The location is also very good, as it is just a 10 minute walk to p3 entrance of Plitvice National Park. If you enter there, you'll avoid the big ques in the 2 main entrances of the Park. If I ever return to Plityvice I will stay in this hotel for sure.
