Hotel Fala is a very simple, down to earth place to spend a night or two while in Zagreb. Staff is very friendly and accommodating. They serve hearty breakfast to set you up for day in town.

Location of hotel is somewhat convenient (I traveled by car - don't know how easily accessible by public transportation), but surrounding area is not very appealing. If you don't mind surroundings its a good value place to stay.

Friendly staff. Handy for airport (on bus route).

Bit too far from city centre. Card reader didn't work, had to pay with cash which would have been a problem if I didn't have any when leaving for airport at 7am!

The hotel is very good, we were placed in the annex, which is about 50 meters from hotel.Hotel is surrounded by small houses, and although close to the main road you can enjoy in birds singing.Staff is friendly and willing to help in every situation.For breakfast you can choose hot or cold meal or both.If you go into town center we recommend a taxi (30 kn = 6 $).

As a last minute planning Hotel Fala was the best choice for the money. It's location was very close to the concert hall I had to be in. Even without the public transport it took me only 15 mins to walk to the tourist center of the city. The staff was friendly and helpful. I was even provided with a rental adapter because I did not have the correct voltage. Breakfast was included and always fresh when I arrived.

It is conviniently located and the staf is very friendly.

The hotel was extremely clean. The paint was new. There were special areas for sitting and smoking/ reading. The manager/ owner of the hotel is one of its staff. When I came at 23:00 I was very hungry. She opened the kitchen especially for me and offered me all the food that was in the kitchen. When she understood that I am not eating cheese and butter she bought a Tuna canning especially for me and gave it to me at the breakfast. And she didn't agree to take money for what she has done.

The staff was very friendly and helpful. Breakfast times were longer than I have experienced in other hotels (convenient for people who like to get up a bit later in their holidays) and the breakfast buffet offered a wide choice of different items. The room and bathroom were very clean.

A water boiler in the room or coffee machine in the hall would have been nice. Also, the window of my room looked to the inside of the house, which created a bit of a basement-feeling.

The woman at reception was extremely helpful with checking it, my questions about the air conditioner, and finding food on a national holiday. The rooms are basic but pretty clean and have air conditioning. The sheets are nice but the blanket is pretty basic. There is a master room light right above the bed which is pretty convenient.

The front door is locked after about midnight. You have to ring someone to let you in or out (hopefully there's a fire exit somewhere). Also one night I came home very late and smelled sewer gas in the bathroom, although I never smelled it again.

Good location for the price, 15 minutes walk from city center

Staff was extremely friendly. Even offered to feed me one night when places nearby were closed. Breakfast was good and they made eggs to order for you. Location is good, you can get to train station or bus station fairly easy. Air conditioning worked really well which was great. A great place to stay.

Reception staff very kidness and polite.

Extremely friendly staff who were helpful in every way. Only 5 minutes by bus south of the train station it is easy to get to central Zagreb. The buses are accessed to the south of the station by going under the railway track along a subterranean 'shopping mall'. Tip: Buy a Zagreb Card for 'free' buses and trams and discounts. The Airport bus goes past the hotel so if coming from the airport ask the driver to stop.

The area the hotel is in has few shops nearby although there is a bakery about 5-10 minutes away.

The room was a bit small. If you are traveling by foot, the location is a bit far from the center of the city.

Very friendly and helpful staff at reception. The room we got was stuffy and the bathroom was smelling, so the girl at the reception did her very best by showing us some other rooms till we found one which was acceptable. The staff seemed to be aware of the problem (other reviews have also mentioned the smelly bathrooms), so we wondered why they haven't done anything about it so far. Excellent breakfast.

The rooms in the main building are mostly very old, stuffy and the bathrooms have faulty piping or something, because they smell awfully. The hotel is located in a sort of industrial area, rather ugly. They have a new building just behind the main one, where the rooms are slightly better, newer. It is a low-budget hotel but they should do something to ventilate the rooms better and improve the plumbing.

The staffs are friendly and trying to solve the problem.

The room was smelly with a smell of sewage system. In the wash basin there was no running hot water. The breakfast quality must be improved. Though nearby bus stop available but far away from city center.

The hotel staff is very friendly and informative. They try to help for any difficulties. They also have nice information for Zagreb city at the hotel office. They communicate in good English. So language was not a problem. There is a bus stop near the just outside the hotel where the local buses, airport transfer buses stop.

The room was very small. The room has some smell of sewage. There was some problem of hot water in the wash basin. The breakfast should also contain egg.

Mentioned in Lonely Planet and that's how I first took notice. I also found good reviews on Trip Advisor. I did find the guesthouse to be a very pleasant family- run place. The staff is very friendly; would call the airport bus for me and even wait with me until I have safely boarded the bus. Cornelia who often worked the front desk even sat to chat with me for a bit one day about my travels. Excellent breakfast, comfortable dining area and I loved the potted plants they have throughout. I do not mind the 15 minute walk to the old town centre. The main bus station was 25 to 30 minutes by foot but tram number 5 gets you there too. From the airport, take the Croatia Airlines bus (30 Kunas) and tell the driver you wish to go to Hotel Fala. If they do not know the hotel then say you'd like to be dropped off at the "Sunce" (medical??) building and the hotel is across the street.

Comfort may depend on the room you end up with. Room 4 had the "funny" smell of old pipes/plumbing, bathroom door would not close completely and lock to the room door should have been in need of repairing (hard to lock). Room 3 was much better. I stayed at this hotel 6 nights total ( not continously) and have always been in the rooms on the side of the main road - the street is extremely noisy with the traffic, even at night so bring ear plus or else opening the window may not be tolerable. Wifi signal is weak in the rooms, adequate in the dining area.

We showed up later in the evening, to find the desk empty- which was at first disconcerting. But then the receptionist walked in from nowhere to efficiently check us in- tell us everything we need, and bid us a wonderful evening in the city (even making sure we knew what we were doing. In the morning, we wandered into the dining room for breakfast, and there was the same lady (or her identical clone), ready and waiting for us. Then she made ham and eggs, and I'd have to say- that was the best plate of ham and eggs I've had anywhere. Then we had to check out as soon as we finished, as we were taking the train to Budapest- so she came out to check us out, despite being during the busy breakfast hours. She didn't seem rushed at all, overall wonderful service. Our room was great too, very modern and comfortable.

The radiator in the bathroom was far too close to the toilet. I'm not a fat dude and my girlfriend is pretty thin, but both of us had to sit at awkward angles to avoid having our whole thighs touch the radiator.

The staff is extremely nice and helpful. All my needs were met 110%. The hotel is a good and cheap option for those travelling to Zagreb.
