I didn't want to leave!
I stayed at Fresh Sheets for a couple weeks and had a perfect time. This
place is custom made for a traveler like me. I have been on the road
alone on a "self-imposed" sabbatical for a couple years. I
prefer smaller, less formal settings. Other than being available for
requests, the relaxed yet attentive staff leaves you alone to make
yourself at home and settle in without scrutiny.
The space is so beautiful, comfortable, soulful - modern design that is respectful of its historic setting. The location is unbeatable. I stayed in two other apartments (locations) in old town - both great - but not as gratifying. Every room I stayed in (with their upgrades I experienced nearly all!) was large, very comfortable, and had a lovely view. Breakfast in the morning is delicious, varied, and at a shared table. I met many other nice visitors. There is a shared refrigerator so guests can buy and store their own food. But there is always food out provided by the staff - welcome platters of charcuterie, fruit bowls, herb bread and olive oil, pastries.
The staff and owners are exceptional. I felt like I was staying with family. I would be out at night and see Jon and Sanja out with their son, walking their dog. They would come right over, say hello, check in on my stay, introduce me to friends. I had the same experience with Alex and Antonija at breakfast in the morning and throughout the day. Always warm welcomes, friendly conversations, absolute care of my visit and well-being.
They offered upgrades at no charge whenever possible. When they couldn't accommodate a 2-night extension of my visit, Sanja found me a lovely apartment with a friend. My last night, I wanted to do something special for a friend before departing Dubrovnik, and Antonija took me around old town, on her own time, helping me gather wine and other items for a dinner in my room. Generous.
