눉I have been staying at this hotel many times each year for about 5 years now, as I am working on a project in Croatia. Generally, this hotel has been rather good, and is of course located within easy walking distance of the airport--- maybe 5-7 minute walk. This last visit was not so good however. After walking to the hotel in the rain, I was told that their credit card machine was "broken", and I had to pay cash for my stay. I didn't have enough cash with me to do that. So, I had to walk back to the airport in the rain to use a cash machine. (the clerk at the hotel said they could have their taxi take me--- for 50 kuna each way--- to fix what was basically the hotels problem!!) I paid my bill but wasn't at all happy. The clerk on the morning shift told me it had been broken for 3 or 4 days. Really--- couldn't they have found a solution by then? Combined with other deferred maintenance issues, which seem to be common in Croatia-- but of course not unique to Croatia--- such as light fixtures with 3 out of 5 bulbs burnt out, showers with low water flow that didn't drain properly, cheap toilet seats that didn't fit properly, etc., my recent visit was very disappointing. As a new hotel--- even closer to the airport--- is about open right around the corner, it is time for this place to get its act together.
눇Generally, this hotel works for me when I visit several times a year. Its quirky design and odd internal circulation system are almost part of its charm. Its easy walking access from the airport, and a pleasant staff, plus a decent breakfast, have helped it work for me.
