Be carefull when your booked . in the web hotel villa argentina appears as five luxury star hotel , and it's but they have a second building crossing the road that you pay a room as one at the principal bulding .the difference in price was just from 20 € up to 50 € per night , but rooms in this secundary building were as a mousetrap .I made the reservation 7 months before my trip and in booking web site I can not choose sea or garden view .the view from my room was a wall al around that you can touch with your fingers from your window and we're in ground floor. We paied 240€/per night .dON'T you think is too much for a mousetrap ?.I can send photos if you liked .booking we bsite for brithish and germans could choose type of rooms. Not posible when I booked 3 double rooms for 3 nights in this hotel 2.070 €of mouse traps

Not single traveler friendly, staff from my experience gave less service to me a single traveler than to larger parties. The hotel beach facilities are used by the general public and it was always difficult to get a beach chair and umbrella. Was charged for drinks onto my room that I never ordered. Apparently the front desk told me it was a common occurrence, hotel staff never asked for your surname when you ordered drinks or food from the bar or restaurant just your room number therefore anyone could just say a room number and not pay, most hotels have a policy that you must give your room number and surname to the waiter to verify who you are. Grand Villa Argentine should implement this and do the same for the beach chairs and umbrella, the public is entitled to use the beach but if someone is paying close to $300 EUR a night and cannot get a hotel beach chair and umbrella and be charged for drinks onto your room that you didn't ordered this is a serious security failure of the hotel.

Sea view was great, beds were good and the room was clean, breakfast was also good. We booked a "cheap" room, if you can call 190 euro per night cheap, so we knew that we could not expect the luxury of some other rooms. However, a five-star hotel should not even have the kind of room that we had in the villa opposite the main building. There was nearly no day-light, since the wall of the adjacent build, one metre from our window, prevented it all. Also the textiles used were dark and dated. If you book this hotel, you should probably book only a room with sea view.

On our arrival we were a bit disappointed to find that we had no balcony as we thought that is what we booked. The pictures of the rooms were confusing. As well as we were not aware that we were not staying in the main hotel but across the road which was fine but would have been nice to have been made very clear to us rather that in very small print at the bottom of our booking form. As for the hotel it was amazing, the facilities are beautiful, the location is fantastic, the hotel staff were just superb. The reception staff went out of their way to help us with information and went beyond their call of duty - they really deserve a big thank you from us.

Facilities and location overall were fabulous. Service was not compatible for a five star hotel. Staff was not customer service and not too helpful. Bellman dropped our luggage in the room and just left without providing any explanation on room or facilities. Food at the pool area was expensive, tasteless, and with poor presentation. Service at the restaurant for breakfast was poor. There is no one to greet you with a "friendly smile" and tables were left dirty for over an hour which caused area to be full of flies. On the first day we waited over 20 minutes for a waiter and finally had to get up and ask the head waiter for coffee for our table.

Lovely view from room: sea, anchored liners, nearby island and best of all the walls of Dubrovnik. We booked a room in the main building with sea view but no balcony which was a good move: we were on the top floor (7) and the rooms with balconies appeared to be on floors 5 and below and I suspect their views could have been partially obscured by the hotel breakfast area. Wonderful swimming area in sea at base of hotel (take the lift on the left hand side to floor 0 which goes to one level above the swimming area, the other lift only goes as far down as floor 1 which is several storeys higher up). Good buffet breakfast. Very helpful staff--when we asked for advice about onward travel by ferry to one of the islands, the receptionist was spot on with information and also arranged our transfers (including the one at the other end). Good location--we could walk into the walled centre of Dubrovnik in about 10 minutes (possibly slightly less on the way there as it was downhill!) A small point but we asked for a double room and got two twin beds made up separately with separate bedding and duvets and pushed together. This was the case in three of the four places we stayed in Croatia. (In the fourth we still got two beds but they were made up as a double, so perhaps this is just what they do here.) The bathroom extractor fan did not work. Everything else about the room was fine so we didn't ask to be moved. It was not a problem for us, but other potential guests might want to note that the swimming area would not be particularly suitable for children--there's a small pool and a big swimming area in the sea (access via ladders, straight into fairly deep water). There were lots of sunloungers and umbrellas, so perfect for quiet relaxation, but no beach or anywhere for children to play.

Very nice hotel, mainly if you had a room with a sea view. The staff is very kind and helpful. Pool area and gardens have a wonderful view of the old city. For me and my wife it was great! Breakfast in the outside area (with a nice view of the old city) had a lot of bees and flies, but you have the option to get inside. A front- sea room is essencial, so if you would like to stay in this hotel, pay more to get it (really expensive). It does not worth the price if you get a room without a front sea view

Great location 10 min from the old city with great views pool area just divine. We received a Sea view upgrade with we thought would be fantastic. Upon receiving our room key did we notice our room wasn't even in the hotel. We had to walk up 70 steps to our room with out a lift, every time we wanted to go to our room. Shower pressure was terrible including hot water we requested it to be fixed, twice with no avail. Room was also small value for money 1/5

I thought the staff were very friendly, professional , and very obliging. I loved the bath robes, the beds and pillows and the l'octane soaps shampoos/ conditioners. I loved the champagne breakfast. Note, Jo Hinge has completed this review. Travelling companion of Jennifer Robey One two minor issues, there was only one computer to access the internet in the business centre and when you have thick hair you need a hair dryer with a more intense output.

The Location of this Hotel is one of the best in Dubrovik. The View of Old Town is magnificent looking from all parts of this Hotel, it is just 10-15 minutes leisure walk to Old Town.. Great Breakfast selection, and the waiters are very friendly and attentive (Mr. Ivo). We tried the restaurant, excellent Octopus Salad and Fried Calamari... There is Private Beach, you could plunge directly to Adriatic sea... Good size swimming pool. I would definitely return to this Hotel. The price is on the High side, but we felt it was worth it..!!! With this kind of price bracket, it would be necessary for the hotel to provide in-room complementary Tea/Coffee/mineral water... There was no Evening Turn-down service (House Keeping).. I wonder why..??

The staff were very friendly and helpful. Always happy to help with any question or request. We were travelling with our baby and it was frustrating that the restaurant didn't open until 19h00 which is too late for the baby to eat, so we always had to go into town to get food though it would have been nice to eat at the hotel. The other problem was that there was no kettle in the room. Having stayed in hotels all around the world, I believe it is the first time the room hasn't had complementary tea/coffee in to room with a kettle. This meant that when we needed boiling water for the baby's bottles we always had to call room service.

Public spaces were lovely and staff was excellent. The location within walking distance to the old city was great. Rooms were very small including the bathroom. Rooms overlooking the land was very very noisy, couldn't even watch TV with the window open. If someone wanted to stay there they should opt for the ocean view although for the money the rooms are still very small.

Firstly the fantastic location! Right on the sea front and a very short stroll into old Dubrovnik. The standard at this hotel is good. The staff were friendly and the hotel valet unloaded my car and parked it. I didn´t worry about it again until I checked out two days later! Our room (superior double) was of course not cheap but the standard reflected the cost in my opinion. The salt water pool situated on the sea edge was refreshing and clean with sufficient sunbeds for the hotel´s guests even in peak season. Another good point for the sunbathing area was the free towel set up. Not necessary to check towles in and out of reception when you arrive as they are placed by the pool entrance in abundance on a daily basis. Lunch at the "beach bar?" Two flights of steps up from the poolside was good value and good quality. Any sceptic people who do not believe the countless praises of the view of Old Dubrovnik from the breakfast area should be prepared for a shock. It really is that good! We did eat one evening meal in the hotel´s best dining room where the staff were very friendly and attentive but the quality of the food did not do the hotel justice in my opinion. Little choice of sea food bizarrley given the location and the ´á la carte´ food served to us was not a good advertisment for the argentina.
